Hi all, The time has come for me to import, what is perhaps the last Sports Car in life... the R34 GTR...can you please help me with the following questions... 1. Which importer (agent) should I go to, to import my new car? 2. How would I know what to import, i.e. would it be something like ebay where I know exactly what I am going to purchase complete with pictures, specs and all details of the vehicle? 3. What's involved, e.g. do I place, say, a $2K deposit with the importer, they contact the Japanese provider, import it over and give me, say, 2 weeks' notice and I just come and pick up the car at their yard with a cheque for the remaining amount? 4. How much do I expect to play for a descent R34 GTR now-a-days? I have heard various suggestions from people ranging from $40K to $60K - I don't mind if there's some K's on the meter (not too high though), so how much should I expect? I'd hope to spend less than $60K where possible. 5. How long would this importing processs take? 6. Finally, after my vehicle is landed is it very hard to comply/register it for road use? Moreover, does the vehicle come with any sort of warranty, i.e. if the vehicle has some faults or damage, can I simply return it or does I wear it as it's landed? Your answers to the above would be great as I'd be looking at this matter in a couple of months after the new year... Thanks all. Kevin

I used to take my car there heaps of times... not bad despite what others think. That's sad news as Fred did say he was finding business a bit harder... poor guy.

Without knowing exactly what happened with the manual gearbox in question - I can only comment on characther - I know both Ferah and her brother, Memed, and their both top people not to mention really friendly. I wouldn't worry if purchasing off them - but of course, you should check anything you back second-hand as it doesn't come with a warranty. Good luck with the sale. Kevin

Thanks mate, I guess, leaving my wallet in there was a prelude to disaster, but as you rightfully said; it's such a arse that it was on the driveway and yet the poor bastard still came into break my window. Never mind, I had taken my car to the local car wash and have vacummed up all the broken class, opened up the door trim and also cleaned there not to mention reconnecting my speaking wires as the glass shattered internally as well and had cut them. So I guess it's all primed now and just awaiting a replacement window. Thanks fellas.

Thanks, Tai - appreciate your words. Pisses me off seriously - I mean, if it's a crack or scrap then at least I can still drive my hideous car around, but a broken window... I can't drive it anywhere as I can't live it parked, so it's basically off the road and has been so for a few weeks. Man, I'm still trying to get a replacement window for it... a few interstate guys are saying then can get me one, but it's the delays and hassles that I really want to avoid - would prefer local - but everyone wants a ridiculous price. If anyone has a cheap window they want to sell, please contact me. Thanks all.

Yeah, but O'Brien's are bloody expensive as hell... they wanted over $400 to provide and fit a passenger's side window to my R33. Seriously... that's too much.

Yeah, that's the thing... call me traditional, but can't touch it and see it in person - buying over the internet is, to some degree, still risky. However, using Paypal is good - it does give you added security as everything is done through Ebay's third-party preferred Paypal. You can call Ebay now, so I would call them up and seek assistance.

Thanks fellas,.... Yeah, it sucks... just the hassle... gotta get my annual work-provided Metcard replaced, the usual process of cancelling-reissuing process of bank cards and drivers license etc... And there's the window - I've actually got 4-5 PM's about replacement windows, so at least SAU members are helpful... now just a bit of extra money out the window and time and this should be fixed. Thanks fellas. Like most have noticed - watch out if you live in Footscray through to the Sunshine area...

Hey fallas, Just thought I'll bring this to everyone's attention. I noticed that the number of car vandalism cases in the Western suburbs have risen in recent months. Last month a mate of mine had his R34 GTR smashed, keyed and thousands of dollars in accessories stolen from his car in the Sunshine area. Last week another mate of mine had his s15 keyed and windows smashed, which appeared to be a random case of 'bullshit attacks.' Then comes my case - this morning at around 4am in the morning, my car's alarm went spastic, I rushed out only to find that some arsehole just smashed my car's passenger's-side window. They fled with only my wallet, some cash and my yearly met-card (which will be cancelled and replaced by work) - but yeah, now I gotta get my window replaced. To make it worst, this was parked on the drive way inside my front yard and metres from my bed room - what the heck is going on? So anyway, tough luck but just thought I'll bring it to your attention - so, if you go to watch a later movie at the Sunshine movie complex, bring a shitbox or risk having your car stolen or vandalised - it's farked!
