  1. GT30's fine providing you are chasing the power level and power delivery characteristics the GT30 provides.
  2. It would hopefully also pick up fuel economy... Possibly. Since the tune and new clean injectors I'm getting awesome fuel economy in the order of 10.6L/100km's.. Just the injectors and a new o2 sensor prior to the tune saw 11.1L/100km's. I personally think the diff solution is a bit of a bummer... Piston speed to road speed, raise the ratio high enough and it will have the same torque getting to the rear wheels as an rb25 or even rb20 maybe. :S Fairly pointless, especially if you stuck with the stock exh. manifold that restricts rev's a little.
  3. If you find its too savage another method to prevent wheel spin is to take advantage of the torque and drop a higher diff ratio in it. There's plenty to choose from from VL style ratio's right up through the 3.7's, 3.9's 4.08, 4.11, 4.363 and also 4.6 Here in Adelaide RB30's are everywhere for ~$100-$200. I have 2 sitting in the shed.. One has a bad gudgen but in otherwise perfect condition. Just as a comparison.. Tractive effort.. Torque.. Mine making ~190-200rwkw has the same tractive effort as an Rb25 making 313rwkw, being ~390-395nm. An Rb30det making ~312rwkw makes ~540nm. Huge difference. There appears to be one downside with the rb30det... If you plan on running the stock exh. manifold expect your rev range to be limited and power to begin dropping off over ~5500rpm.
  4. You don't have to mod anything.. Just screw the filter up as the vl and r31 boys/gals do.
  5. Bugger, good luck.
  6. I dropped cleaned gtr injectors in to my rb30det. Fuel economy dropped from 13-14L/100km's (stuffed injectors) to 11.1L/100km's, after the tune it has now came down to 10.6L/100km's. The usual city driving, up on boost a little not too often as the 3ltr lugs the car around quite quickly off boost.
  7. Gawd damn.... Doesn't appear to be any difference in fuel economy between turbo and N/A. I've only just had gtr injectors and a new genuine 02 sensor dropped in, trimmed back the pfc fuel correction to 58.5%, instantly it began getting 11.6L/100km's. Had it all tuned up and now gets a nice solid 10.6L/100km's of city driving. I'm pretty much just cruising around 90% of the time, occasionally I give it a little squirt that has it turning the rear's easily in second gear. So it is driven fairly easy. Prior the old crappy 260cc injectors were causing hard starts and slight flat spots on the tip of the accelerator pedal. Fuel economy was wofull. ~14L/100km's. On the stock ecu when the injectors were ok it was managing ~11.1L/100km's.
  8. You don't want to be decelerating a fresh motor. Very very bad for the bores. Max 4000rpm, lots of varied load and don't load it up for too long. No decelerating, drop it in neutral (critical within the first 50-100km's).
  9. Good thread.. Prevention is better than a cure. New bolts for me when the cams come out.
  10. Please post prices as per forum rules. Profec A
  11. Have a good look and smell of the oil, you will soon know if its a rear main or most likely gearbox input shaft oil seal that has gone. RB's don't generally have their rear mains leak.
  12. Depends on how happy the dyno is.
  13. Always worth double checking... I haven't had the opportunity to check out a turbo block in the flesh. Is yours up and running yet?
  14. There not piston oil squirters.. They squirt a little oil on the load side of the bore. Check the rb30 guide for a pic of piston crown oil squirters.
  15. With regards to off boost accel. Maxx's r33 RB25det felt as if it had the same low down urge as his s15 sr20det. HOWEVER, the sr20 didn't feel as revy and the power band felt shorter due to the shorter 6speed ratio's.
  16. I need to find the bloke who stated the rb30et blocks have oil squirters... Thread was around here some where.
  17. Motor mates used to be able to do custom stickers.
  18. I heard a quote floating around about Mick a while back. Some thing along tune to blow from memory. Can't quite put my finger on it. I may be wrong, or it may be some one else.
  19. If its not the gearbox its the diff.. If its not the diff its the crap n/a valve springs. EDIT: I didn't think it was possible for Martin to have bad hair days anymore?
  20. I can't run mine down the 1/4, not game to. Keeps twisting and breaking the gearbox as it is.. lol Awesome 32 Blue32.... I am stuck with the gtst until I finish Uni.
  21. I would say not having mesh is more for the wank factor... I went mesh to hide my fmic. Its the look I want.
  22. Daniel... As some one prior suggested the RB30ET blocks apparently have piston oil squirters. You having access to an rb30et block can you confirm this?
  23. Roy.... I was running std actuator pressure on the rb20det turbo to make 176rwkw. I suspect my dump pipe is crap as I've always had an issue with boost drop. I was running 12psi by ~2000rpm which would then tail off to 9psi by peak power. Now looking at the power curve it was most definitely starting to valve float a little over 4000rpm, now that I've tried running more boost through the new turbo it really pops its ugly head up and pumps up the lifters. But no it never died... Its got within spec shaft movement and feels better than the vg30 I slapped on there.

The 3ltr is a torque monster... Its was origionally making 100rwkw by 2000rpm then just over 110rwkw at 2500rpm. its now up to 128rwkw by 2500rpm.

Yep replaced 2 clutchs, one was a organic HD, that did ~110,000km's and still felt good when it came out, it was getting low though. Ive since dropped in a ceramic 9 puk 1 tonne job to hold the 3ltrs torque and power. I've clocked 30,000km's on mine now and it still feels new and has plenty of meat on it. I don't consider clutch's to be maintenance, they are like brake pads & shockers. I haven't replaced my shockers yet.. :S 204,000km's in total they have done. Still feel firm but could do with replacing.
