  1. Car won't start. It won't turn over, it turns over but doesn't kick... ?!?!? Was your loom in the engine bay behind the turbo heat wrapped prior to hitting the track?
  2. I do know of some parts that holden no longer stock for the vl. Unsure if Nissan are different.
  3. Rolling downhill or decellerating in neutral uses more fuel. The efi cars cut fuel when decellerating as a method of improving fuel economy. I generally just pop it in third approaching traffic lights and let the engine do the majority of the braking.
  4. Its all about networking, uni is a very good place to start.
  5. Ahh no problems.. So whats your setup? 14" and a 10" on the back of the radiator no shroud? Std 12" blowing through the a/c? Keep it cool in that qld summer?
  6. Being accepted in to that job without a degree is the problem. Sure you may not use the knowledge initially but you will find later down the track your saying to your self.. thats right I remember something about that, where's that text book again. Don't forget the communication skills you now learn at uni as most courses incorporate psychology and english topics, i.e industrial psychology, professional english etc. All of which are very usefull in the work place.
  7. RB30's are much tougher than many realise. I wouldn't hessitate to push it to 300rwkw.
  8. No one lets the clutch out in one smooth action when the are learning, they don't have the co-ordination. Let it out in 2 stages, when it first grabs then once you are moving let the rest out, find the sweet spot (rolling speed) on the final stage. Let it out slow enough you should be able to take off without any acceleration. This is a good little test to get the hang of using your clutch.
  9. It must of been a fair wack as the 14" ebay fan I posted a link to was fairly heavy duty feeling, especially around the motor as it was metal. I've attached a link illustrating.... The only bits plastic are obviously where the motor screws on to the fan shroud and the blades. Did you break where the motor screws on to the shroud? I was rather impressed with the quality compared to 2 x 12" Davis fan's I pulled off some time earlier. Felt much more sturdier, quiet and don't vibrate. I also doubt a 16" will fit, depending on how it is mounted it should, on a shroud that is, radiators require shrouds to work effectively. My 2 x 12" thermo's were fine for every day driving until I hit the a/c and was stuck in traffic on a 33+ degree day, temps quickly shot up and wouldn't come down until moving. Removing the fans it looked as if only ~30-40% of the radiator had airflow through it via the fans.
  10. I've always explained how to use the clutch by the following. Slowly let out the clutch until it begins moving the car, once the car begins moving hold your position and don't let the clutch out any furthur, once the car is moving at a decent rate then continue to let the rest out. Take it nice and slow. Appears to work pretty much every time so far. I've adjusted my clutch so that it engages ~1/4 up from its total travel, much easier to launch and get those quick changes in.
  11. Nengun/Greenline have the pfc ebc kit, fairly cheap.
  12. Check the flinders uni course listings, i know they give you an indication of potential employers and type of job.
  13. I was in a similiar postion when I was 22. I decided to bite the bullet and go to Uni. 3years is now up, a couple of little bits here and there to tidy up and my degree is finished. 3years goes so damn quick its not funny. Do the study I say, just make sure you know what you want to do and aim realistically as uni can become very very hard if you make the wrong choice. Ive almost finished my B.I.T, I intend to do a little furthur study and hopefully get in to I.T education.
  14. Awesome.. GTS4 Make use of the first 2 gears, the rb30's torque really tries to chew up the tyres within the first 2 gears. Not good for rwd. Just watch that third gear.
  15. http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/index....showtopic=23649 http://ausrotary.dntinternet.com/forums/vi...a450ceb5b15dd4b There's a few more opinions via google. I would think its a toss up between the AVCR and Blitz SBC-id, really comes down to what features you will use. Then maybe look at the eboost if the above two are not available for some strange reason.
  16. I used a sensor off an R32 RB25DE that was red, my origional was yellow, appears to work fine. Temp readings via pfc are fine. It also looks as if the VL/R31's run the same sensor.
  17. Its been quite a year. If your only going a gt30 stick with a stock rb30, dont bother with forged rods or pistons.
  18. I run the stock bov. The VG30DET turbo is so much damn quieter than the rb20 and rb25 turbo's. It HAs to be the step in the turbo's intake. If you block off the little bleed hole in the stock bov it also makes spool rather quiet, I experienced roughly part throttle acceleration through the hills so I removed screw I used to block the bov's bleed hole.
  19. GTST, The VG30DET turbo and the Rb25 turbo run the same sized comp cover, the only differece once again being the vg30 is smooth where as the rb25 has a step up. The Rb25 turbo is a noisy bugger like the rb20 turbo. I am 99% sure its this little step in front of the comp wheel that causes the noise.
  20. I do see what you are getting at. If he can get a cheap ecu remap from dr drift then by all means, but if its a the usual $800 job then bugger that, suck and see then if need be grab a stock ecu.
  21. A turbo isn't a turbo.. Post the correct picture or state this is not the turbo but one like.. You can easily post a pic of the turbo in the engine bay, people will not call you stupid for doing so. With the recent rip off's you have to understand.
  22. Gear doesn't make a difference to power. Power = torque x rpm / 5252 In this case rpm = wheel speed.
  23. I just finished off a KFC Works burger combo with upgraded drink, Mountain dew.
