  1. You've got to get us a sound clip of the rb30det with its cams Ben.
  2. I met Shaun through Tim and Ivan @ RPM. Tim used to do all my work, Tim sold up Ivan took over with Shaun managing. Shaun's been around the scene for many years, he knows what he's doing and best of all..... He doesn't pop motors due to stating... 'ahh I'll pull another 20rwkw out of it', exactly how Tim used to work. Tuning isn't rocket science, some simply try to push it too hard, running too close to the edge.
  3. 14psi on ceramic wheel isn't really true to all turbo's. A good example of this is the RB25 turbo, the most you want to push that is really 12psi. Any idea what a tuned VG30DET would make running such boost? Many ppls running around reliably at such boost levels? Unsure if you know... The VG30DET turbo is actually quite a small turbo that favours exhaust flow, obviously as its bolted to a 3ltr. The VG30DET turbo is a Rb20DET turbo (same comp and turbine wheel) but with slightly larger compressor and turbine housings. If your up for a small upgrade if your turbo lets go grab a R33 S1 RB25DET turbo and bolt your turbine housing on to that.
  4. Slywine, Your in the VG30DET scene.... What do these turbo's usually get pushed to (PSI) on the VG30DET?
  5. I can't wait to see the results of yours mcstocky.
  6. There's your answer.
  7. Paul, Cam timing and ignition timing are not related as ignition timing is based on the crank's postion not the cam position. Which is why its always important to recheck ignition timing after you have fiddled with the cam's cam belt etc. Its not as simple as dropping the CAS back in its origional position. Adjusting the exhaust cam gears position or centerline is only going to change the position of the CAS in order to achieve a set ignition timing of say 15degree's.
  8. Well... maybe not just change tuners at the drop of a hat... Go back to them see what they say and if they will check it out and finish it properly this time. If not off to another tuner you go.
  9. HRthirtyone, Head down to Boostworx, tell him its running lean blah blah, chances are he will charge you stuff all... If it takes 1hr then he will charge you 1hr dyno time. So it might end up costing $100 or so. Dont be upset if the boostworx dyno reads a tad lower, it has a tendency to do so. BUT for a simple power run you can't go past blackwood auto and dyno.. $35 is stuff all.
  10. New tuner... He didn't spend enough time with it.
  11. Are you looking at big cams are you?
  12. An AFR graph would tell a little more.
  13. I've been in a R32 GT2510, R32 with a RB25 turbo and my own R32 when it was running a VG30 turbo. The RB25 turbo spooled a little quicker and felt as if it came on smoother than the GT2510. The GT2510 went well and went hard once on boost. The VG30 turbo sucked compared to the others.
  14. lol ... if only every one sold them at that price. The going price I've found is around $250-$350.
  15. Head up to Blackwood Auto and Dyno. $35 for a power run. My Rb30DET running the stock rb20det turbo where it made 176rwkw at 9psi, which is most definitely slower than how it feels now without a tune running the vg30det turbo. Mine will spool up to 13psi by 2100rpm (appears to surge or some thing under that) general driving say rolling out of a corner at low rpm and booting it will see 13psi or so at 2500rpm. It appears to pull hard until 5800rpm, all though it does go a lean after 5500rpm. Needs to be tuned.
  16. What sort of boost and power do you make out of the stock turbo? I have one on my rb30det, untuned.
  17. If only thats the way it worked in practice. You will find at some stage upping the boost will only make it ping. Thats if it actually holds boost to that stage.
  18. I wouldn't waste money on the rb20det unless you really can't afford the extra expense of the larger motor.
  19. We have our fair share of bodgy tuners here in Adelaide.
  20. 360kays sounds like you either really get stuck up it ever single acceleration OR the light load cruise etc is totally out of wack, being influenced by the O2 sensor etc.. My 3ltr DET running 12psi and stock rb25det base map (untuned) gets better than yours. :S
  21. Unique autosports sell 3.5" rezzys/mufflers. Right down the bottom.... http://www.nismo.com.au/pricelists/priceli...lineexhaust.htm
  22. I'm interested..
  23. It is very noticable on the dyno.
