  1. I've always suspected nasty unequal reversion due to the stock exh. manifold. Which is why I asked about detonation, similiar to mine with the stock turbo. As you near peak power and over it the motor can generally take more ignition timing. Not the case with mine, it goes backwards due to backpressure.
  2. Thats a little low for a GTR, sure the sender could be dodgy. Hrmm Those of you who have spun bearings prior, did you notice a drop in oil pressure?
  3. xr6 turbo + rb30det = me.. Near xmas.
  4. Breathless, Peak power isn't everything, compare the average power and the turbo will leave the n/a for dead.
  5. I've dug. The blokes name is mait32 With regards to boost control. It seems even steve had a few little issues even with an external gate. As can be seen here roughly half way down.
  6. Its going to take me a little time.. This forums search function is dicky.
  7. How many people are making this sort of power with the stock exhaust manifold? Any issues with detonation? Another question.. Who's doing the tuning?
  8. Magnaflow make 3" x 2 internal single mufflers.
  9. What sort of power are you making legend? All on the stock rb20 g/box? Those tyres look they would much it.
  10. Sounds like a very well matched package. I've since seen your thread on AUS LS1. Very nice result. That initial 150rwkw is pretty awesome. What RPM was the dyno run started at? 13.2 1/4 was run after the mods?
  11. No. Boost ramps up harder. Try not to think about it too much. It works, that is why adjustable rods were created. The RB25/VG30 actuator is quite soft and can be adjusted by hand, the RB20 on the other hand requires a big dirty screw driver to be levered against the elbow.
  12. Flap doesn't open as wide. Exactly the same way an adjustable rod works.
  13. pulling towards the front of the engine bay. So I guess thats out.
  14. Modify the actuator bracket.. Elongate the holes, exactly the same as a adjustable rod. Works well, I had my rb20det turbo holding a stead 16psi with no boost controller.
  15. I've done the calcs and had a read of the resistor specs. The 10w is ok and the resistors will handle it, I believe there's another bloke on SAU running 10w and a few over at SDU, you wouldn't want them getting hot, though. I wouldn't do it. The injectors see a little more than 12v. More like 13.8v, I use the 25w Aluminium Housed Resistors to be on the safe side.
  16. There is no option for selecting injector types. There is only a trim. Inside the PFC it has stored the stock injector values, you then either do an overall trim or change every cell in the map to achieve the correct afr's. The issue with an overall trim is you often run out of adjustment via the pfc. From memory 1.4? is the most you can adjust to. If making a lot of power and using a trim this WILL cause problems. The only propper way to do it is do a complete fuel map tune with no trimming.
  17. That it would, especially with the 3ltr's. What mods have been done to the LS1?
  18. There is one bloke that owns one. I'll try and track him down.
  19. I've had issues with cracked plugs, that was such a nightmare. I had the plugs out 2 times and couldn't see any cracks, the third I found one plug with a crack, the tuner found another 1. Need to be very very carefull tightening the suckers up. Keep it 90degree's, I was lazy and left the cross over pipe on and used a swivel.
  20. Who's doing the work? Steve with his HKS3037S had no issues holding 22-23psi.
  21. A good closed loop EBC is needed. An EBC that is able to change duty cycle on the fly to obtain the boost pressure you require. There's a few that do this, the well known ones being the AVCR, Blitz SBC-iD.
  22. Is the condition known? The $600 1/1.5/2way second hand items have an unknown condition/possible rebuild. $800-$900 second hand are generally a good second hand item. Thats what I've came across anyhow. Obviously there are some good deals floating around, just need to be in the right place at the right time.
  23. You can get the stock item shimmed. The cost is usually around $350. Not as good as the real thing but it is 1/3rd the price.
  24. Have a look at the diff. The old VLSD may be getting a little tired.
  25. Thats a point I missed. In all seriousness though, the size of your mufflers, I expected the car to be so damn loud it wasn't funny. Its quieter than a dude around the corner that has a 2.0"-2.5" exhaust and a cannon on his NA Corolla.
