Funny you should mention as I have looked in to it and will get down to the local wrecker and or pull-it parts to check a few out.

Lol. I'm still planning on coming across a cheap ballast.
-
That it is. Second hand they appear to be quite expensive. I gave Adelaide Jap a buzz and they quoted $175. I said to the lady Nissan sell it for basically the same price and if thats the price they want to sell it for I'll send the extra few $$ and get a new one from Nissan. As I was finishing off the word Nissan she hung up on me.

Higher boost. R32's generally are up around the 11-12psi mark with an exhaust.

Fuel economy, what you can do about it.
Cubes replied to AlexCim's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
The fuel economy issues some Skylines have has always baffled me. My little RB20DET used to consistently run 10.5-11L/100km's. The Rb30DET is slightly heavier and returns a consistent 11.5-12L per 100km's. Its always on boost as the poor little rb20det turbo doesn't allow the motor to breathe freely at low rpm. I'm soon to replace injectors that have been cleaned and flowed. It should be interestering if I notice a drop or increase in fuel economy. -
I've measured the Comp wheel and taken pictures. From my measurements (not really sure what to measure) the smaller top part of the comp wheel measured up at 46mm. The larger bottom part of the comp wheel measured up at 63mm. That would make the wheel a 53.3trim? Trim = ((inducer)squared / (exducer)squared) X 100 Does garret list specs for this wheel? The closest I can find to a 53trim is a TO4 54trim? I will have a bit more of a look when I get some more time.

Thanks Steve. From Nissan: Injector Dropping Resistor $197.60 22698-05U10

Hi ppls, In an attempt to track down a injector resistor ballast box I've decided upon asking nissan. Before I do so, Where abouts is it located?

http://www.sdcc.asn.au/lonsdale.html I've been told to be there around 9:30am, I've been told to enter the car it costs $25 and for a temp cams license its also $25, or a year basic cams license its $40. I'm not 100% sure on the pricing as that is what I've been told. I won't be entering my car 1. No moneys and more importantly I don't want to have the injectors bouncing off 100% duty as for some reason when they hang on 100% duty for a length of time number 3 injector drops out. Which is not good. http://www.motorkhana-sa.com/

There's a good blitz on this weekend.

Will any one care to elaborate one why not to run a car with the battery disconnected. I've done it multiple times on multiple cars when I don't have jumper leads handy in an attempt to get a car started to recharge the battery.

Charged: $100 Mods: FMIC, 3" Turbo Back Exhaust, PFC, RB30DET. Tuned By: Shaun @ Boostworx in Adelaide, SA Time Taken: 1hr (I Hung Around) Comments: Very happy, The 3ltr only 'just' ran on the stock RB20DET 2ltr PFC base map. Very good tune for bugger all bills. The tune was 90% wot tuning with a few little light load adjustments. It made 176rwkw with the stock RB20DET turbo running 9psi @ 4400rpm-4950rpm, power drops off rapidly after this rpm. I've reached the limit of the stock rb20 turbo and injectors as they are hitting 100%. I will be installing injectors and a larger turbo soon, I've been told the tune will cost $200-$300 as he will have to completely go over the light load map. This is what takes time, not the WOT.

A live chat area for those that have donated or those that are long time members? Found it. http://www.invisionchat.com/ http://www.invisionchat.com/?features Annual subscription though. -
Hi ppls, I've been thinking about this one for a while. Is there any chance we can integrate some sort of live chat in the state sections that are only available to maybe those who donate as a nice perk? It would be awesome to have one in the state sections and possibly a logged one for forced induction or where ever. All mods should have mod privileges in these chat sections, this would ensure there is some one fairly close that can kick some arse should the need arise.

My old man is ping tone deaf. He held it down in his EF Fairmont some time back and it was rattling its head off. I was like aaaaahhhhhh stop.... Its pinging its head off, No wonder its blowing smoke in the revision mirror. I can't hear it pinging he said.

Every one seems to have them down here in Adelaide. But as said.. They want $550-$600 for them.

Hiflo T3/t4 Hybrid Or Stock R33 Gts-t Turbo?advice
Cubes replied to soccerplayer_20's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Spool time will depend on the wheels used. One reason why the GT30 is a better option, sure more expensive but more responsive. -
Hiflo T3/t4 Hybrid Or Stock R33 Gts-t Turbo?advice
Cubes replied to soccerplayer_20's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The vlt t3/4 will make more power than the 'stock' rb25 turbo. So it is better so to speak. Bush bearing vs ball bearing really isn't a big factor, it has more to do with the wheels used. Bush being half the price (~1k for a highflow) vs 2k for a BB highflow is the other difference. Ball bearing turbo's will last a lot longer where as bush generally need a reco every 30-40k or so when used in high boost applications. -
Saturday is no good for me.. Heading out on the boat fishing all day. <hugs his sea sickness tablets> lol Last weekend we went out with another boat, they were all puking up over the side as the swell was rather large. I had sea sick tablets and was perfectly fine. Got home and slept the rest of the day mind you. lol.

Hiflo T3/t4 Hybrid Or Stock R33 Gts-t Turbo?advice
Cubes replied to soccerplayer_20's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
erm.. you replace the ceramic wheel. If you already have the t3/4 highflow bolt it on and see how it goes. Obviously you will require some intake plumbing mods and a new dump pipe as the vlt is different in this area. The rb25 highflow will simply bolt on. The better ways to go about a larger turbo it is to buy a GT30 core (turbine and comp wheel) then machine up your comp and turbine housings to suit. Or.. ignore machining up your comp cover and use the gt30 .6 or .7 comp cover to allow for higher efficiency's at high boost. Myself.. I'm grabbing a GT30 700382-12 CHRA (core, turbine wheel, comp wheel & .6 comp cover) and then machining up my Vg30deT turbine housing that measures up around the .7 a/r mark. It should make around 280rwkw without the need for silly boost and pull strong from 3300rpm (rb30det). -
fatz, is that the xr6t turbo? On a RB30DET (rb25 head) the GT35R (.7 comp & .82 turbine) with mild 256 cams, makes 1 bar (only just) by 3500rpm and will make what ever boost you dial in by 4000rpm. Throw on another 500rpm or slightly less in spool time for the rb26.
-
Thats a nice video of the xr6t. 3rd could pull harder though. hehe
-
Sounds good. Eventually this too will influence my decision on cars. When I finish Uni I will most definitely buy a family car so to speak as the R32 is simply too small. I've got a 6month old little boy, it was a nitemare trying to get him in and out of the baby seat when it was in the capsule position. Now it is facing forward so it is much easier. My little buzz box will do for another 3 years I estimate. By that time I will be in my own house, finished uni and have worked for a good solid year. Then... I honestly will look at either a performance commodore or ford. I am now hooked on forced induction so it will be either the xr6t ford or possible V8 Commodore with a nice APS twin turbo kit.. hah.. I wish.. What I am most likely to do is grab a XR6T, quiet exhaust a little more boost and an edit. Keep the R32, gut it, slap a roll cage in it and enjoy it down at Mallala. Well.. thats what I would like to do.. hah money permits.
