  1. VG30 sucks on the RB20.. Very soft hitting boost and it doesn't really start pulling hard until at least 4k. I had a vg30 turbo on my old rb20 some years ago. Only lasted a week before I got sick of it and threw the stocker back on again. Stocker running 1 bar was much more fun and quicker. Maybe not at 7000rpm but the difference was really stuff all. Mid range and average power is where its at. not peaky crap.
  2. I wouldn't recommend any of them for street use. Expect 4.5k+ boost with any of the above. I would personally look at a Roy setup. The TD06-20G appears to work damn well. Lots of average power from 4k onwards.
  3. RB20 box is still going strong behind the rb30det. Even though its only making 176rwkw its torque that kills box's not so much outright power. It does whine and make funny noises though. First and second are rather loud.
  4. Gary, With regards to the swaybar setup you mentioned above. Does the setup of using 27 mm front and 24 mm rear case the car to have a tendency to oversteer or understeer? At the moment with the stock setup my 32 has a tendency for oversteer, zero understeer. For example if I turn a really long corner and slowly increase speed it will have the arse end stepping out nice and slowly, luckly no understeer. Very controllable, no snapping about I really dislike understeer.
  5. How much power are you making Hungry? Do you have a pod adaptor in front of it that isn't the full 80mm? Making 176rwkw my RB20 AFM was hitting 4.9v, .2v left to make another 30rwkw or so. Attaching the Z32 saw the AFM voltage drop to ~4v.
  6. Its bad.. I'd much prefer to make the car go harder than wasting money on body kits, bov's, neon lights etc.. Once its going hard then sure. Do the body kit but please no neon lights, they belong on Hyundai's. I see a riced up car with big go fast wings, 6" exhaust tips big loud bov, watch it take off with its stock smooth clutch and think hrmm ok.. lol
  7. I wouldn't mind one of those 'only milk comes in 2ltrs' stickers for the back window of my 32. Stirr a few ppls no doubt.
  8. Yer theoretically, what holds the bov shut is the stock spring tension + the boost from the plenum. In practice it may not always hold true.
  9. GTR Bov's differ to that of the std RB20/25DET bov? Theoretically the stock single turbo bov's should hold well as they have a boost feed that applies pressure on the opposite side of the diaphram to hold it shut.
  10. Cold start this morning and the motor is noticably noisier with Castrol 10w60 than when it was running the Motul 8100 5w40. Noisier being piston slap. Prior it could hardly be heard, only with the bonnet up. Now it is noticable when standing next to the car. Does bear some relevance to Motul. I would have thought the thicker oil would = a quieter piston slap. The Motul 8100 5w40 is also a clearer or more transparent colour over the Castrol 10w60. In my Jonny Walker I can't see through the Castrol 10w60 oil as it is a dark colour, the Motul 8100 5w40 I can, Just.
  11. I didn't bother with springs on mine as the tensioners are locking types. That pic was thanks to another bloke.. I forget his name.
  12. The EL thermo's are super thin. Pop down to a wrecker and check one out.
  13. Definitely a good deal ppls. Buy this sell your old motor!
  14. I removed the little box that resides between the slave cylinder and the master cylinder. I simple straightened then bent the existing metal line from the master cyl. in to a 180degree bend that mates up with the rubber brake line that then connects to the slave cylinder. The clutch feels lighter and more progressive. It has more of the usual spring to it now instead of the usual same weight all the way through. Its much nicer to drive. Ignore the rust mark on the floor pan. Thats an old heater that went pop under the inlet manifold. The camera really shows it up as orange.
  15. Maybe its a wannabe and has some issues. All it needs now is some guards, a bonnet/grill and ... A GTR BADGE! or not.
  16. My RB30's oil restrictors were exactly 2 x 1.8mm. The RB20DET's were exactly 2 x 2.4mm. I took a pic after an oil change today.. On idle it looks like there's plenty of oil on the cam lobe. I poured the 4.5ltrs in to the motor as quickly as the 5ltr container would allow. It didn't over flow and drained in to the sump super quick. Much quicker than the rb20det used to as the rb20det would to overflow if I poored oil in too quickly.
  17. I've just had a look at the guide and it doesn't state anywhere the width of the 94407 belt. It does state that the gates belt has been cut down from 30mm to 25mm in the factory. I don't really know I used that information from some one else so it's only hearsay. I'll find that rb20det belt and measure the sucker.
  18. I'll update the pdf. I've got an old RB20DET Nissan belt around here. I will measure it. I suspect they are infact all 25mm's.
  19. Off topic a little. I've recently moved to Castrol 10w60 over Motul 8100 5w40. The left over 5w40 (~700ml) I used to throw in an old Jonny Walker bottle. Shaking it used to easily turn it to froth. The Castrol 10w60 on the other hand is really hard to get air in to it. You get the few little bubbles but it doesn't turn to froth like the Motul gear. It is also noticable thicker. With regards to the colour of the oil, I find its always dark.
  20. Yep could be available. I'm cooking some wog food up (sauce) then will be freezing it so providing we are not too log it should be ok. Where about is the car?
  21. Yep sure 'was' busy.. I'm going to give it a nice wash and polish after I eat some grub.
  22. Does it come with a filter relocation etc
  23. Sorry $350. lol http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=81255 I had just finished looking at the IC for $175.
  24. Oil wont spray everywhere unless you have the motor running while you pull it off. haha Don't forget to remove the wires connecting to it first. Doing an oil change at the same time will make life easier as it won't have an oil filter on it.
  25. RB25 harmonic balancer & RB30 drive cog. I just had a quick measure and it is indeed ~25mm. I don't know if a 30mm belt could fit in there to be honest. Are u using the R32 RB25 head or??
