I had Chris Milton Engineering rebuild/port/polish the head, Andrew from City Dismantlers (who has now left) rebuild the rb30 bottom end and bolt the head on. I pulled out the rb20det and dropped in the rb30det in my old mans shed. I origionally was going to assemble the motor my self but to be honest the cost assembly was stuff all, the expense comes with machining, pistons etc..

No GT35R just yet.. I have the custom .82 exhaust housing that bolts up to the stock manifold and has provision for the connection of an external wastegate. I've got a few things to get yet. Wastegate, CHRA, Comp Cover, Injectors. I'm still holding off a little on the Comp cover as I am deciding what I really want. Should I step down the Comp cover to a .5 and go the larger exhaust housing (similiar to the ford xr6t & improve top end VE) or should I go the smaller exhaust a/r with the larger comp cover. I think the ford setup will suit my needs a little better. All I am after is close to 300rwkw. 280rwkw I would be happy. I don't know.

I've got a little vid of one of the dyno runs. Not too much. I was more so watching any tell tale signs of detonation.

Unsure what the dip is in torque through the mid range. Probably a sideaffect from a 1hr tune. I think with a little more time spent on the tune and a RB25 turbo it will make 200rwkw without any problems. Would also be interestering if boost drops off like it has with the rb20det turbo.
-
Even with a bigger turbo.. Sky30's with stock cams made 290rwkw at 6000rpm. Thats fairly decent. Very close to where peak power is made on the RB20/25's (6200rpm).
-
Its the exhaust housing and compressor causing a lower peak rpm power. THe compressor is obviously maxing out its airflow and diving in to choke, which is why it is dropping boost. The exhaust housing is causing a massive restriction which causes reversion, hence reduced VE. High back pressure in the exhaust manifold lowers VE/Cylinder filling. Shaun had to pull a heap of ignition timing after 4800rpm as it was pinging really easy. He said it was due to the small hotside. Cams with more overlap i think will make it worse. Hurry and get yours tuned darren. I am really keen to see the difference your larger turbine wheel makes to where peak power is made.

Seat of the pants, it feels stronger everywhere and feels much much more rev happy. Even though the dyno graph shows it dropping off after 4800rpm it still easily pulls and feels like it is still accelerating hard until 6000rpm. Shaun told me to change just before 6000rpm. Definitely quicker than the rb20det running 16psi.

Had the stock turbo tuned today. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=70088 Boost peaked at 12psi then tapered off to 9psi @4800rpm where it made 176rwkw.

Hi ppls, I got the RB30DET tuned up today running the stock RB20DET turbo on the stock actuator pressure. Boost peaked at 12psi and made 100rwkw by 2000rpm, boost then quickly dropped to 11psi, held for a little while, then tapers off quickly, by 4800rpm boost was down to 9psi where it made 176rwkw. Not too bad for 9psi. The tune was only a 1hr tune. AFR's were adjusted to 12:1. By 6000rpm the injectors were hitting 100% duty with 12:0 afr's. Quite a bit of timing had to be pulled over 4800rpm, Shaun the tuner said it was due to the backpressure of the stock turbo. The exhausts dump pipe is a little bodgy which wouldn't have helped the back pressure issue.

ahh no problems. Any one wish to share their map. Simply out of curiosity. I'll be happy with a base map.

It needs to be tuned.

Paul, Is there any chance you could send me your or a Datalogit map for the rb25 or any rb? I'm keen to check out a few settings. Please.

steakout pics would be pretty damn funny but. Being an IT dude one would think he would be a little smarter. lol Especially when he logged to sau via his work (that happens to be located in Newcastle). Obviously IP's are logged.

rb25detcalais, I'm getting a 67kb/s download. Upload is a anywhere from 24 to 27kb/s. It appeared to halt up for a fraction of a sec so I assume you were hoggin the bandwidth. I max out at around 26-27kb/s anyhow so I would imagine there is still a little more head room for a faster upload to you.

He probably see's the interstate number and thinks.. hrmm.. i won't answer that. To block caller ID in SA I think the number you dial in front of the number is 1832 or something similiar. 1382.. 1832.. I 99% sure its 1832. Or maybe he has logged on and had a read of this thread.

I remember whatsisname was making around 250rwkw at the time. He went from the BCPR plugs to the BK NGK plugs as apparently thr BCPR's were breaking down. I generally only ever go the BCPR6E plugs. They are pre-gapped to 0.8mm and are V-groove plugs. The BCPR6ES plugs don't have the V-groove. I have had a few problems with these breaking down slightly on 16psi. Well not sure if they are breaking down but yer hessitations. They can be had from motor traders for $16.80 for 6. I have in the past ran them up to 30,000km's. They were still fine when I pulled them out and didn't notice any difference with the new plugs. Obviously higher horsepower (i was only on ~164rwkw) would have them needing to be replaced a lot sooner.

Mines set on 46mv or what the pfc reads .46v. It occasionally flicks between .46v & .47v. I always get 0% duty cycle when decelerating. Only when cold will it pop or run on a little while decelerating. If I set any lower than .46v I get a slight flat spot on the tip of the accelerator.

My stock ecu was pulling ignition timing and dumping fuel in well before the 5v mark. It was also running very lean over 6psi. So be very carefull, get it on the dyno and check it out. Over 6-7psi @ WOT my ecu was cutting fuel around 3000rpm. I have since learnt the AFM was not maxed out and the injectors were not maxed out either. Just before the cut afr's were 14:1. Very dangerous. I am not 100% sure why it was fuel cutting. I assume the ecu was freaking out as the airflow was too high for the rpm. Mine on 11psi was hitting around 4.98v. (PowerFC) The Z32 now reads 4v. This was on the RB20DET ecu so no doubt the R33 ECU will allow a little more head room. Still be very carefull. To max the stock AFM out you generally make up around 220rwkw. If its the stock small turbo I doubt you will be making 220rwkw. The AFM voltage is not linear. Even though you are hitting 4.7v you may still have quite a bit left in it. Well enough that your turbo won't max it out.

FS: R32 RB20DET Cylinder Head

Head and block SOLD!!!! -
Is this for the RX7 550cc injectors or RB25det injectors?
-
For 190 I would step down to heat 6. Too cool, the plugs will foul and miss.

rb25det - Rocker Cover Gasket query
Cubes replied to Boostn247's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Complete gasket sets are worth up around $275 from memory. Bu5ter's set is a good deal. -
Heat range 7? Are you up around 250rwkw? NKG's web page will be able to help you out with the specs on the plug.
