Should We Put A Stop To Organised 'regular' Cruises
Cubes replied to Cubes's topic in South Australia
Don't take offence its just a bad attempt at humour from the other closed thread. I think the point is if we present ourselves as a street oriented 'organised' club (especially when we are not an official club) this is where the problems begin. -
Hi All, No doubt I will cop it from the 'family'. Don't shoot the messenger. Please read and absorb the entire post before making a post. ---- I have received multiple concerned emails/pm's/msn's with some suggesting we put a stop to the bunny and Stag 'regular'organised' cruises due to the police attention they have received. It has been suggested we create a 'Cruising Tonight...' thread where in an unorganised manner SAU 'friends' meet up and go for a drive. As such this is not classified as an 'organised' and regular meet and is unlikely to attract such attention. Hopefully It has also been suggested we do not hold regular cruises and go back to the way it was in the past where randoms create the odd cruise of which did not attract the unwanted attention we are receiving now. Street orientated Car clubs do not work. Times have changed by organising regular cruises and 'presenting' SAU/SA as a street oriented car club we are bound to attract such attention due to the hype of 'hoon' import drivers. Cruises will not stop but rather the frequency and method of organising them of them will change. Keep this thread VERY CLEAN. No Bagging only constructive comments on how to rectify the situation essentially the bunny/stag cruises have put us all in. Voting is obviously anonymous. I can't see shit nor would I really care who votes for what. ---- The Poll has been closed as we are now looking at another approach. The primary concern is Police conducting vehicle inspections at cruises organised on SAU/SA This is simply not acceptable. If we were to be acting in a hoonish manner on these cruises by all means we deserve to cop it but we don't. We have a history of sedate sensible cruises that are almost boring where people complain about standing around and talking too much. If a middle ground cannot be negotiated it will go back to the way cruises have been organised in the past. If they simply cannot leave the meet spots alone (providing every one is well behaved) then its probably wise those who have organised cruises in the past and are known by the police wash their hands and take a step back for their own good. If Neil is 'expecting' to be notified he won't be happy if the previous organisers have stated they will notify him and then don't. Police attending future cruises and 'looking' for dangerous/excessive mods will prevent any skyline that is modified from attending. Think of the big picture people and try not to simply think about what is good for you and only you but for the SA/SAU's forum and future as a club when it gets off the ground.

This thread has said all it has to say. Closed.
-
My question is has SAU/SA been backed in to a corner where future 'regular' cruises have no option other to notify the police or fear if the police do find out the meet spot every one is pretty much a goner?
-
So were they notified of the cruise yesterday or they read the forums and simply turned up? Curious as Kellie's new cruise thread states she will be working with Neil and he will be at all future cruises. So obviously Kellie will be notifying Neil of future events.
-
That isn't stating Kellie is banning anyone - Its stating what kellie is doing in a round about way is 'banning' any one that has anything more than a stock looking turbo. Nothing against Kellie maybe she's in a difficult position, kind of forced to invite the police if you will - if she doesn't they will go to town on any future events that they happen to find out about. I rarely attend SAU cruises anyway so I have little to be concerned about. However it would have been nice to meet you one day though Ruby.

IMO EBC's are there to simply 'tweak' the boost level close to what the actuator is rated at. I'm attempting something a little different. I have went with a large diaphragm 14psi actuator that has a really really stiff spring. It appears to do the trick as I have been easily able to run 18psi up over 5000rpm where as previously it would tail to 16.6psi. -
SLED, Your previous post is exactly my thoughts/concern.
-
Understood that the police where reasonable and lenient BUT were there stags with highmounts?

Ahh yep... BUT there is a point where tweaking the EBC fails to work any further. -
uhhh they are popping hoods.......
-
Its not ludicrous to open bonnets but to invite a hood popping is another thing. So there was Stags there with high mount turbo's etc and the police simply turned a blind eye? A highflow or turbo sitting in its stock position with heat shields etc all over it is not counted.
-
Ruby.. So pretty much what Kel is doing is 'banning' any one with a car that has anything more than a stock turbo......
-
As Nene outlined in the other thread. All hoods were popped. Maybe fine for a Stagea cruise where the cars a predominately stock but for a Skyline cruise where a few have high mounts etc its definitely not wise to cruise under Kellie Umbrella. Its great to have a relationship with the police and for them to show their presence possibly ensure tyres are all good but for them to pop your hoods and have a look is just ludicrous. Its more of Defect Kellie cruise for those that have anything more than a stock turbo. Funny thing is its usually the idiots with just a front mount exhaust and a little boost that cause the most trouble or the odd tag along VN commodore/falcons. Almost a tad worried now If those associated with the police attend other events organised such as Dyno days etc if the police will 'attend' :S This is ONE of the primary reasons I backed off from setting up SAU/SA as all it was going to turn in to was a Street Cruise club. SAU/SA Motorsport only. bah Nissan Datsun car club FTW.

RPM Offset? Explain? If the gate is being blown open due to back pressure behind the flapper over coming the wastegates spring there's not a lot you can do about it apart from run a larger exhaust a/r or stiffer actuator. -
I simply don't understand. Dumbfounded I think is the word. If it were myself attempting to build a relationship with the police and they mentioned we will be popping hoods I'd cut all ties. Its just all too weird.
-
My apologies i was taken back a little. I still feel you should cut ties and run a 'normal' cruise. Sure taking note of tyres is fine but checking for mods. Thats crossing the line.
-
Its just a matter of time. You can pat a dog but still beware it may bite.
-
All things aside.. So this was their idea or?
-
You no comprende? A fair worry.
-
So who's going... I'm curious to know who's suicidal.
-
If they hear a tidy stock looking RB rock up with a slightly lopey idle Im sure they won't turn a blind eye. --- Please don't invite Neil to other SAU events. There's simply no need.
-
Awesome.. Obvious Dangerous mods: Car too low Wheels too big etc etc. I don't think you'll have too much having trouble banning people as there will be no one/very little attending.

Not sure... The dyno I run on reads the same as mainline dynos. One of the lower reading dyno's in SA. Same dyno Whatsisname made 260-270rwkw and ran a 120mph TS. So it was definitely the .6 surge slotted comp cover GT30 you had? -

The $380 price is if you have a set of std GTR cams to start with. $1k is grinding up a set of billets. As for water/oil lines I dropped through pirtek and used bundy tube. ~$40 each line and its done. So ~120 all up. Bundy tube is the same metal tuning Nissan used from factory. Can be bent relatively easily.
