  1. I use Royal Purple 10W-40 in my car for the moment. My last oil change cost me around $105 all up for oil and K&N Oil filter (for my extra 11ty billion spare wheel kWs y0! lol). My next change I'm going to grab a 20L drum of ELF Excellium and hope it ends up being cheaper in the long run Did you take your car to Joel at Excite Autos for service? He was pretty cheap, pity he has decided to close up shop, assuming I assume correctly
  2. I hear an echo
  3. I'm pretty sure requirements are neck to wrist to ankle clothing, a helmet, CAMS L2S licence and your car. I'm sure someone will back me up on this
  4. For shits and giggles phone up NRMA for car insurance. Long story short, it was double the premium in comparison to Justcar, using my circumstances Shannons are pretty good, provided you have a garage . Unfortunately, I don't lol
  5. It is a bit late for me to reply, but yes I definitely went I had a great time, I'm starting to brake later and later for the 2nd corner. Someone hand timed me a 1'17" too, which is consistent with previous efforts There was a silver R33 GT-R there too, half way through the day it started making some weird noises... like oil supply issue noises. I hope it wasn't too bad
  6. Yes... my cousin drove around in a Subaru DL wagon, and the only reason why it was deemed "roadworthy" was because of that rule. I tell you now, having a manual switch to turn on and off the reverse lights because the signal from the gearbox doesn't work is really good for scaring people at traffic lights
  7. You could leave enough money aside to cover insurance, CTP, rego and a potential excess all year around... Just saying
  8. Well... my car has a stock SMIC, the 180 has a FMIC with MASSIVE piping (massive piping was selected due to the cost of it being free lol). Its not I have an advantage, she has a disadvantage. Still, it will be fun Ends up her best lap is around 2'16"... not the sub 2 mins I was thinking lol
  9. Not sure... I think last time she did under 2 mins, but that was before the CA18 broke. This will be her 3rd time at EC and my first, with my only advantage being lack of lag and wider tyres, assuming she doesn't go semis. I'm still trying to convince her that a failboat is better than her fail80
  10. I'm going to the Eastern Creek L2S day on they 23rd of Jan. I'm going to see if I'm faster than my friend in her SR20'd 180SX. I'm going to say... unlikely lol
  11. I'm going on the 9th Work told me I have too much leave, so I'm gonna burn it up with track days
  12. The only Skyline I could imagine being used as a cop car would be a R31 in the late 1980s. Though if someone can prove me wrong please do
  13. lol @ the thought of being thrown into the back of a Skyline/Supra/200SX cop car, being the sizable coupes they are. Personally, I don't see the police force investing in second hand cars to be made into patrol cars, especially ones that where never Australian delivered. The potential of inheriting a problem from the previous owner would be too high, whereas a brand new Falcon or Commodore carries less risk.
  14. When I bought my R33 it came with Potenza G-IIIs, and I don't recall being a massive difference in road noise between them and what I am currently running, Federal 595SSs. They did make a fair amount of noise, not enough to give me the shits after 6+ hour drives though. +1 on wet weather performance though, I think my Federals are slightly better in that department. Dry weather though, Potenzas had it hands down. The Potenzas where better to drift on too, until it rained anyways lol
  15. Spotted Mr Moo on the F3 on the way home today
  16. Usually not an issue on the track, unless you are off the track and in the dirt. Chubbeh... I suggest you get Tein, simply because they are Jap-spec and green. Everyone knows green jap-spec coilovers are ftw lol On a serious note, if and when you get new coilovers, let me know. I might know someone interested in putting them in another boat
  17. ZOMG I was spotted while not cruising with 11ty billion other Skylines You where obviously travelling in the other direction as my car is still mangled on the passenger side of my front bar... should go about painting my other one soon
  18. *Face palm...* I'll mention now that more often than not I pull off from the lights very quickly and that my driving record isn't exactly clean, but what I'm trying to say that it seems to be a little stupid to do these kind of things if someone is egging you on. The potential is there for it to be a cop so why bother? Not only that, do you get a trophy for winning? Any prize money? A kiss on the cheek? Seems to be very little returns for a fairly high risk... mlr - I'm sorry if you interpreted what I said to mean that I thought you wanted to race, I just wanted to say I have no sympathy for street racers who get caught. Believe me, if I thought you wanted to race, I would have got up you for setting a bad example for your son Jamie - I think you are missing the point... while the police might get a EVO here, a WRX there and a Lotus Exige in Bankstown, why risk getting stung by trying to race a vehicle commonly known as a police car? Considering more different cars are becoming police cars, why bother racing at all? It costs $110 for a speed off the street day at Wakefield and $120 for a private practice day at Eastern Creek. Much cheaper than most speeding fines and impound fees in my opinion. That pretty much sums it up
  19. Toyota Tarago, Honda Odyssey, Nissan Patrol He probably means his mates have hired some big cars. I'd offer my car up, but it is a GTS-t, stock and is kinda half munted dori spec atm. Hope your brother gets a good car
  20. I put Royal Purple Max-Gear 75W-90 in my gearbox. My car used to ALWAYS crunch 2nd when cold, and it doesn't any more. However... 4th and 5th at full noise still crunch without rev matching, but luckily I only encounter that when I'm doing more than 150 km/h, and my wage doesn't let me go to the track that often. My gearbox will get a rebuilt one day lol
  21. Why beware? Anyone with half a brain would realise a XR8 or a SS Commodore could potentially be a cop car. I have no sympathy for someone who gets booked like this, if you have something to prove do it on the track.
  22. The sump plug bolt isn't at all hard to get to. I can get at it without jacking my car up (stock ride hight). If your car is lower you might need to jack it up, but it would still be easy to get at.
  23. I bought the battery for my R33 from Supercheap, just a Bosch maintenance free lead acid one. Just make sure you take some measurements of the battery and the battery terminals before you buy, you want one that fits lol As for safe battery location, it is probably just as safe there as under the bonnet, as long as you keep it secured.
  24. +1 on throttle control. My car is stock power wise on 255 Federal 595SSs, and in the wet it is very easy to get the rears spinning, even on fresh tyres. I manage to keep traction though by keeping the revs below 2,500 rpm (even taking off from lights in 2nd) and taking it easy around corners. It is all about driving to the conditions. If you really can't do this, get a piece of plastic and block about 3/4 of your air filter. The resulting restriction should bring the power down so you will get no wheel spin at all
