I had a great time yesterday! First time on a track and DJ Brave said I got a 1.19 at some point. No offence to Wayne but I think my stock car on street tyres would have been a little slower than that, but regardless it will give me something to aim to beat for next time I have found out I need to learn how to heal toe, I gotta brake way early at the moment with how I shift... or snap the clutch out and get compression lock up. Something to think about for my up comming driver's course at EC IMO, your Soarer was the best sounding car that day What a bomb
-
Must be lol But I thought the reason you left QLD was to escape the man love. Are you taking the stance of "if you can't beat, them join them" attitude? That doesn't sound very homophobic to me. I think its time you open the closet door Noel Jokes aside, different people are... well... different. Some people like to go fast, some people find going fast a frightening experience and avoid it at all times. Some people are attracted to the morbidly obese and for the life of me I can't figure that one out. You just have to learn not the get upset about it when people have different opinions than yourself. Then stand back on that corner with your leg out and get the money

I didn't realise you ran this country and dictated what people should and shouldn't do with their cars... Some people like to hang out in car parks and talk shit. Some people like to cruise in circles around the city. Some people like to hit the track. Some people like to leave their cars on their driveway, get on their computers and be keyboard warriors. Which one are you? Personally I'm about leaving for Goulburn in the next 15 mins for Wakefield tomorrow.

A more serious question this time... The rims that used to be on the back of my car still have rubber on them. Except they are down pretty much to the wear indicators, maybe a tiny but on the outside of the tyre. In the CAMS book it says something along the lines of "localised wear along the inside of the tyre" is acceptable, but I think these are a little past that point. Would these be allowed or will I have to find another place to burn the last of the rubber off legally ? Doesn't really matter if it doesn't, the tyres under my car at the moment will pass fine unless something bad happens *knocks wood*

So everyone ignores my misspelling of bar... My car is as standard as standard comes except for my rims which are 17", but with the tyres on there I think it would probably only a fly shit of difference. However, there is some merit in taking the already damaged one... I can smash it good and proper now!

Quick question, really unimportant but a question anyways... At the moment I have a choice of taking 2 front bars. One is white like the rest of my car (probably because its the factory one that came with it ) but has a gash in the side of it and the indicator/fog light surround is non existant. Lights are intact The other is black but is in almost perfect condition. Do I go to the track this weekend with a white or black bra? :laughing-smiley-014: .Perhaps saying bra instead of bar was intentional.

So hiding the keys to the GT-AHHHH in his sleep I've got a swag... you could just sleep beside your car on the side of the road, all ghetto spec This is great. I can't wait for Friday
-
Never been on the track before either, but I think if your tyres aren't bald/nearly bald and depending on how you drive the current set of tyres you have on your car is going to do just fine. Someone confirm this? Because if I'm wrong I might need some rubber Google maps says that it takes about 3.25 hours to get from the Northern Beaches of Sydney to Wakefield... I think one would be able to do it in less, without breaking any laws even.
-
To do either, esentially its doing the same thing. Making plastic go from that dirty opaque look to a clean clear look by removing layers of plastic. I have to tell you though to patient with it. Results aren't instant and the longer you take polishing them up the better they will look. Damn! Why didn't I think of Brasso I'll have to keep that in mind for when my headlights get eventually yellowed again and I run out of ScratchX

I've told most of my friends... and their response has been generally soft saying they lack the monetary capacity Won't stop me going, especially since I have paid lol

R33 Gts-t Calpier Seals
Cassbo replied to Cassbo's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Like I said, I really didn't know what I was doing. I have a mechanical enough mind to pull something apart and put it back together but not enough to know when to leave things be. I had a go and now face the consequences Just did some reasearch on rebuild kits. Z32 kits don't come with the seals I'm after, and I have a feeling that Nissan will follow suite with a Skyline. However the guide says to buy an O ring from a hardware shop like Bunnings. I shall see how I go -
Extinguisher installed with the rear seat still in

R33 Gts-t Calpier Seals
Cassbo replied to Cassbo's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I did I'll look into that locktite stuff. I image you could buy that stuff just about anywhere? How far apart... One side stayed on the car (cable tied to the strut to be exact) and the other side lived in the boot of my car, wraped in a rag (or more accurately, my work jumper). So I pulled them very apart Its weeping from between the 2 halves. When I put them back together I was in a bit of a rush, sun was going down, it was starting to rain and I needed my car on the road before morning. When I looked at it the other day I noticed the 2 halves don't sit as flush as the opposite side. $45 per side seems a bit steep just to fix my own f**k up, especially if I'm only after seals, but if thats what I have to get, I'll get it Its what I get for trying to fix my car with no real idea what I'm doing Thanks for the help guys. btw... where abouts would I be able to pick one of these rebuild kits? I'm just after options at this point so I'm not ruling out the locktite. -
Hey everybody, A few months back I drove my car off the road, did some pretty serious suspension damage. While I was repairing my car I pulled apart one of my calipers (passenger front if it matters) to get more room around the lower control arm/castor rod/tie rod. I put it all back together and am driving my car again, all seemed well... Until today I decided to have a look around my car, I noticed that said caliper I pulled apart was weeping fluid. Needless to say I quickly checked the brake fluid level and it was fine, as if it where full. However, my concern is with brake fluid being hydroscopic... absorbs water from the atmosphere which can turn into steam inside your brake lines giving you very limited brake capabilities... or so I'm told... So here are my few questions. 1. Do the calipers have seals of some kind? I didn't notice any while I was pulling them apart so I'm hoping I just didn't line them up very well... which I didn't lol 2. If they do use seals, where can I pick some up? Nissan Parramatta got me a tie rod, they would have some? Obviously I forsore the process ahead of me regardless of needing seals or not and bought some brake fluid. So when my questions are answered I'm going to pull them apart, put them back together and do a full brake flush. Untill then I'm just going to drive carefully, engine brake as much as possible (which for me to do more of is going to be a hard task in it self, I'm usually all over the gears ) and keep an eye on the fluid level. Thanks Matt

I can vouch for this book, its a very interesting read and is very hard to find, especially in Australia. Good luck with the sale

Maguires ScratchX worked fine on my headlights to get rid of the yellow haze, though I used it to buff out scratches left behind by 2000 grit abrasive paper. ScratchX mentioned earlier will work as a plastic polish, but I believe Maguires PlasticX is what your thinking about You keep the item you are sanding and the paper wet. It makes the sand paper less abrasive and therefore leaves finer scratches. The idea of sanding is to start with a more abrasive paper and finishing off with a polish. In English you sand the big lumps off first and work your way down to the small ones

SSS Automotive (02) 9896 6111 or (02) 9636 4301 Unit 6, 120 Gilba Road, Girraween I suggest taking in the bent parts for identification purposes. I had to go there twice because I picked up a driver's side lower control arm instead of a passenger side one. Wasn't a massive problem, just an easy swap, but it did involve driving there and back twice. Be careful there though, there are plenty of shiny things in there that will tempt you to spend more than you need to

Observation points go to you

That sounds like a challenge to me! What would you say if I suggested puting my old castor rod back on and have another go at it? I'd also suggest doing a advanced driving course of some kind. Not only do you learn things (for example, an R31 wagon with age old shocks and near bald tyres being driven by an 18 year old will stop in a shorter distance than a brand new LandCruiser with ABS being driven by his 55 year old dad, simply because LandCruisers weigh 11ty billion tonnes) but they are alot of fun too!

Spotted a heap of SAUers getting on the loose in the city on Saturday night

The car rides just as smooth as before. It pulls ever so slightly to the left, but I'm not sure if it did this before I bent stuff, not to mention the camber of the road will make the car want to do that any way. $600 (not including parts) in my head doesn't sound unreasonable, but thats only my guess if you did about the same damage to your car as mine. I would allow for more, but thats just me Put it this way, my insurance excess was going to be $2800. So far I have paid $2044 with my car being about 90% of what it used to be, aesthetic stuff, the front bar still has damage, but I drive my car every day and everywhere!
