  1. The youth of today... Sacred cows we should call them, for they can do no wrong and must never be touched... Parents should only take 1/3 the blame, other 2/3s should go out to the lawyers and politicians that protect these scum! Stuff like this just pisses me off. If I did anything like that ever, my life would probably end at that point of time. Would be my parents filing the "trippen and fell into the gutter face first" report... I do admire your self restraint though. Just sitting on him? Not what my choice of action would be, but then again people go to jail for murder
  2. Got a bit of a conclusion at the end should you want to skip my stupidness First, why all the VL bashing? Its the only decent Commodore anyway (RB30E ). Besides, the term sh tbox should never be used. Sure, a Excel might not be a nice car, but if your on a clay pan in the middle of nowhere... who cares? In my experiences with insurance, a change of car in the eyes of the insurer is much more minor than a change of driver. Your idea of having your mother insured for the Skyline and you for the Mondeo could work, but I don't think you would save a significant amount of money (I'm too lazy to look it up so I might be wrong :laughing-smiley-014: ) Now for my long winded story. Got my red Ps in 2004 (no V8, turbo or performance restrictions, as far as I read the rules) and I got it in an '88 R31 Skyline GX Wagon. Drove it to and from school and probably nearly killed myself a couple of times while doing it, but I learned how to control a rear wheel drive car. Anyways, year after and its time to pay for insurance. No record good or bad, still 17 and I could only insure it with NRMA for around $1500, third party property. (car was previously written off by my dad, we kept the car and re-registered it, somehow most insurers don't like this...) Needless to say both my parents and I where fairly shocked at this, so we decided to insure it under dad's name with me as the yongest driver. Another year passes, same thing happens again but come this around when we phone NRMA they said I was not on the policy. Then to have it properly insured under my dad's and my name would save me a whopping $200 from the original $1500, big deal . Thus, will not insure with them again. "Thankfully" the car did not pass rego due to some rust on the A pillar... To this day the car sits on the front lawn... Then I got myself a V6 Magna, drove it for 2 months before my brother needed a car and I decided that it was too much of a luxury car, and I liked the "go-kart" feel of the R31. I bought myself a '91 Subaru Liberty GX, front wheel drive and almost all electric options. Insurance is easy, but it burns just as much fuel as my R31. Now I have enough cash for a tidy R33 GTS-t Series 2, but lack the balls to part with my money. Anyways, before I write an epic novel here I would just like to recommend a car should you not get you Skyline would be a Gen 3 Subaru Liberty (2002 - 2003). (IMO) Looks good, goes well and hole their value reletivly well untill you sell it for your Skyline. Or if you still want an import a Mitsubishi FTO, although, insurance isn't going to be much cheaper than the Skyline... Whatever you get just keep in mind that they all cars can break the speed limit, some just do it quicker than others Conclusion: Skyline insurance should be full comp, unless you earn roughly $20k a week or you get a really dodgey one and keep an open mind, look around for other cars that aren't "sh tboxes" (beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that stuff...)
  3. I watched this and decided I needed to watch Initial D again, with all them Japanese songs with random lines like "Rage your dreams" But onto the topic, in my opinion "no video, it didn't happen" unless obviously your admiting to losing... I mean, who lies about that? :laughing-smiley-014: Personally I would like to think that the Skyline would win that senario, mainly because front wheel drive cars scare me like nothing else, especially large ones like a V6 Magna... (3L V6 power in a 1400+ kg front wheel drive vehicle... good one Mitsu...). That being said... nothing quite understeers like a R31 Skyline Wagon with boat spec suspension and barely legal tyres going around round-a-bouts
  4. I coudln't believe it on Friday. On the way home from work (all of a 15 min drive) I saw 3 Skylinesm roughly around the 5:15pm mark. Black R33 White R33 GTS-t with green P plates (I think they where green) Silver R34 without a wing. I'm pretty sure this one lives on my street. All in Terrey Hills, I couldn't believe it! Love it
  5. Spotted a yellow Stagea on Friday 4th (around 8:30am) and Tuesday 8th of May (around 12:30pm) driving past St Leonards station. Driver probably saw me too, the guy on the footpath staring at your car with a big stupid grin on my face. If your here, I would like to say nice ride
  6. First off I'll say hey, seems appropriate I'm in a similar position as siddr20 as far as the R33 vs R34 question goes, except for in Siddr20's place I have a Suburu Liberty, which is quite clearly lacking in capacity, cylinders and a turbo or 2. And that isn't even going into that the Subie is 2WD... on the wrong wheels... I have set aside so far roughly $25k which I want to cover the car, rego and insurance. Having a look around shows me that this is plently for a nice R33 GTS-t Series 2, but then it hits me... A) Thats alot of money... and more importantly B) I saved up this much, why not go for a R34, or even a R32 GT-R... Out of any of these, I want to buy it and try and keep it stock (I'm told by nearly everyone that this is impossible, keeping it stock that is ). Guess I might be a little wierd in this way but meh. Also my main concerns are with cost to maintain (I'm no mechanic but I tell you changing the water pump on a RB30E is NOT fun!) and just how it feels to drive in general. Not very concerned with whats faster or goes around corners better... but they are pluses. So here is the question, R33 GTS-T, R34 GT-T or R32 GT-R? Or even something I have not considered . I'm leaning towards the R33 for purely cost reasons, but I would like to know someone's oppinion who knows the cars. I would add cars of the R31 series, but I know that I won't find one I'd be happy with. I have considered a domestic car, but a combination of the reliability of my R31 Skyline (long story short, work horse all its life and the only thing that stops it from starting is the battery that is currently in a Magna ) and a mate of mine recently bought a Mitsubishi FTO and I'll admit I'm a little green over it I want a little advice on this, as I feel that if I can't make up my mind I'll get some Grandpa mobile (like my brother's Magna ) or some Commonwhore.
