  1. Hey guys, I've been searching on here for approx 3 hours now, and i cant find any how-to guides on removing the lower control arms for an R33 GTS-T... I might be using the wrong search terms or maybe there isn't one, either way can someone (or multiple someones) "hook a brother up" ? I stacked my car on the weekend and so far i've got the damage down to bent drivers side lower control arms (front & rear), bent drivers side front rack end, radiator top tank shat itself (but not bothered by that = easy fix), and obvious panel damage that can be easily replaced. I work in a servo so funds are minimal, but i'm pretty hands on when it comes to diving in & having a go at fixing busted stuff. I should have the necessary parts (control arms / rack ends / tie rod ends) lined up from a dude on here, and i want to have a crack at replacing this stuff myself. Can some of you guys point me in the right direction (with directions), so i can at least have a bit of confidence to start pulling my suspension apart without worrying that a spring is gonna fly across my garage BTW i have TEIN coilovers all-round if that makes any difference (prolly not).. The sooner i get some pointers/confidence from people who have done it a few times instead of from a bottle of wild the sphincter of the universe, the sooner i can buy the parts off this dude and start hooking in. Cheers..
  2. GOD-DAMN DUDE !! Sounds like you've invested a little more time than a simple weekend sussing out your options & putting the right combo together - thats luto !! What sort of cooler set-up are you going to pair with that combo ? Stand-alone air cooled, or combo of stock plus an added front mounted air cooler I had no idea a 5 speed was optioned, well there's my new thing i learned for the day. But if theres a good chance the 4 speed is slightly stronger, i'm sticking with it.. So from what i've read, sounds like the tiptronic is essentially the same box as what i have now, only it has an electronic gear selector added. I already assume i'd need the box's computer to go with the 34's tiptronic function.. And a manual valvebody conversion is already on the check list waiting to be ticked off. This info is good guys, cheers for this. If anyone else has anything more to add then don't be shy. It's good for what i'm trying to find out & also good for future searches from other members.
  3. Just a query.. Are the 33 & 34 auto's pretty much the same strength & physical measurements ? I have been toying with the idea of slotting a tiptronic R34 auto into my 33, purely for the tiptronic option. But have no clue whether the R34 boxes are any stronger or weaker than my current R33 auto.. Any takers on this one ? Any rumours anyones heard, or has anyone here already done it & had some results they can throw my way. please keep the "just get a manual" comments out of this thread, its my cash & my car - so get over it. Cheers guys.
  4. Personally wouldn't recomend Matty Spry @ Pitstop Performance only for his customer service. Alternatively his tuning ability may be all well and good though. Have had alot of good reports about his experience and abilities with regard to tuning turbocharged vehicles. So i'm not in any way slagging off his expertise, only his attitude toward myself as a customer. I was a big fan of his from my Gemini days when he owned/tuned/ran HYPO4. Was not happy with his customer service 100%, i spoke with him personally @ his workshop and he treated me like a P.O.S from the word g'day. He told me he had no intention of touching my so called "P.O.S" skyline unless i fitted various parts that he stated i had to fit for it to be worth touching let alone worth looking at. His "demands" were a Motec or Autronic computer or a min of Apexi SAFC, but even then he said he'd "probably be too busy to look at it". I don't know if it was 'God Syndrome' or whether he was having a shocker at work. It's just not good business etiquette to turn your back on and laugh at a customer that asks to have a HKS Fuel Cut Defender fitted & AFR's checked, then walk off while the customer is asking whats so funny/bad about wanting to have one fitted. Within 2 hours later, i had a quote and excellent service & advice from both 'Chiptorque' and 'Millenium Motorsport'. In the end, i got Millenium to fit the FCD and check the AFR's and i was very happy with them overall in both work carried out & customer service. Like i said earlier, i'm not bad mouthing any workshops abilities or expertise in regard to tuning. Only my experience with customer service, all three workshops mentioned have countless evidence of their workmanship that i would never argue with.
  5. What sort of horsepower & torque do you have for them to quote twin coolers like that ? Is the standard tranny cooler inside the bottom of the radiator ?? Because i thought it was the piss poor cooler in front of my radiator on the drivers side, but am now thinking it's only the power steer cooler.. It'd be a bitch to pull it off and replace it then find out its only the power steer unit.. I only ask coz i have been getting frothing of my fluid (can hear it frothing through the lines @ 150+ kph at full throttle) and am looking at putting a large(ish) front mounted tranny cooler on to see if that helps with some synthetic fluid as well. I searched this entire forum, and there's surprisingly very little regarding transmission coolers in here... I've been to the wreckers, and found 2 different coolers that "might" be ok. One is a 'honeycomb' type from a VP Commodore - looks like it flows a fare amout, but wouldn't have a clue on it's cooling capabilities. The other is a tube & fin style from a VT Commodore - looks like it'd cool reasonably well, but not sure how well it'd flow... We need more info in here on tranny coolers eg; sizes, where from (brand/shop/other vehicle etc.), results, etc. If people are running aftermarket coolers, please share with us as much details as you can for future searches in this forum. Cheers
  6. I'm also interested to know what/which oil coolers people on here are recommending/using.. I was gonna ask about which tranny cooler people would recommend for my S1 GTS-T, but this bassicaly covers my question. I was considering a V8 cooler from something like a Commodore or maybe a Soarer, cause i assumed if it was made for the reasonably high torque they put out then it would probably be fine for me as well.. I had a close look at my standard tranny cooler, and i gotta admit - it was a piss poor effort from the factory at Nissan. So yeah, start throwing cooler ideas & opinions into this thread so anyone else with an auto can have a gander..
  7. Any chance of some old pics of the Carbon Fibre Pod Shroud & Veilside Sideskirts fitted to get an idea on what they look like on the car ?? Cheers mate
  8. How many K's are on the auto dash, and what kind of nick is it in ?
  9. Chasing prices on rotors for front & rear of my S1 R33 GTS-T, frieght is to 4214 FRONTS = Slotted/Grooved & Dimpled REARS = Slotted/Grooved Cheers bloke. Also, quick curiosity question.. Are the rotors a simple slip off & slip on job, with just the wheel bearings to freshen up & nip in ?? I had someone tell me that they needed a press to get the bearings on & off - sounds a bit much to me just to fit a pair of rotors. I've changed them on a SII RX-7 and a Gemini, and had no dramas or needed any special tools...
