If you can get professional custom work done for a significantly lower price than a major brand (and feel confident in its quality) - more power to you
-
Hey, no offence intended - just "calling a spade a spade". Custom work is great when you need something special fabricated - but when there's a perfectly good product on the shelf - why bother?

If you've got the nutz to uproot and come all the way to japan - you should have the nutz to be a teacher. Excellent English schools aren't a (factual) requirement for most places - but I wish it was! (I cringe at some of the things I've seen... it's no wonder engrish/japlish is so prevalent). As for curriculum - I have no idea about the corporates - but they will be using a set text. With JET there is a pile of workshops, meetings, etc that will build your skills. Personally, I've found teaching very natural, which was kind of surprising. These are a few 'essentials' for japan: * English skills - if you r a l33t typa, may b not a good fing 4 you 2 come. Seriously though, you're going to need a workable grasp of punctuation and grammar etc - people will ask you questions! * Be a people person! Be genki! I'm neither of those, but I manage! Definitely helps if you can do it naturally. * Learn my mantra: "It's not my culture, it's theirs... It's not wrong, just different". The absolute #1 problem people have in Japan is dealing with cultural difference. People ALWAYS resort to "in my country..." or "why isn't it like this..." - it p1sses me off! You will have problems/issues - deal with them intelligently. And take a deep breath! I actually find 'reverse culture shock' (coming home) to be worse - people starting fights in public places, not being able to happily walk down a dark street at night, people f@cking with my sh1t - you guys largely take that as part of life - in that regard, Japan is 99.9% wonderful! * Part of the above, but very basically: Respect is important. * I think of some more later

"- I know a good exhaust shop that's done most of my cars. Thinking of getting a custom made rather than Brand Name." Why bother? The major multinational japanese companies (HKS, etc) have put a hell of a lot more blood, sweat, tears and R&D into their products - as opposed to something knocked up in someones shed (I don't care how good they can weld...)

whats better: R32 GTR or R33 GTR?
DaiOni replied to samboR34's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I'm going to also go on the line and say that, stock v stock, the 33 will beat the 32 in a circuit race. Close but comfortably. The visual evidence I have seen backs that up (with different drivers, different course, result the same...) The dynamics of the r32 may make it more of a 'pure' sports car (that's why they went back to some of the design elements with the 34 - wasn't a performance issue in any department). It is, from all reports, a more 'on the edge' car than the 33. -

that wasn't a dig by the way - I'd be genuinely interested in seeing some official nissan data -

Christian: where are the official times? do you have a copy? I'm only going by what I saw - stock car v. stock car. Both cars were awesome, but it was the 33 that won by a car length. -

ps: I've read the import reviews too - but do they actually test a stock (vs stock) car? hmm... -

"the 33 is where its at... but the 32 is quicker." I believe this statement to be a myth. Having watched a stock v-spec 32 vs a v-spec 33 - the 33 is the clear victor. In terms of equipment - r33 is a clear winner In terms of aesthetics - the r32 is considered by many, to be far superior. Personally, I'd take the r34 over both of them - but who wouldn't? -

Does this GTS-T have a body kit?
DaiOni replied to HappyPuppy's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
link not working for me -
which bodykit do you hate? there are literally hundreds of kits out there. A very similar bonnet is entirely possible.

Bride quality is up there with recaro etc - nice seats. -
legal because it came with the car and legal because other cars have it - are two VERY different things. The HID thread is a good example of this.
-
Interestingly, a recent thread on PF suggests that these (any light upgrades) are illegal and thus an obvious defect. It's a shame, they are one of the most impressive things I have seen on a car (when I first saw a lexus with them).

Mitsubishi Diamante (magna/verada here) has already been there for a long time. But yeah, it would be the monaro (GTO) -
Yes. Missed it last year due to travel commitments - this year I actually rescheduled flights to fit it in. Arrive at Narita on the friday and will be attending on the saturday. Went to OAS last year - that was sweet.

In my experience the japanese use their own system of dating at least 80% of the time.

unfortunately, pretty much nothing is actually 100% legal - inc ecu

Which is the ultimate? Supra VS GT-R

FF - is also how the japanese refer to FWD cars, so somehow... I don't think so

R35! R35!

I wonder how many people here have forgotten that it's forced induction + big capacity. Has winner written all over it.

I've posted this before, but here it goes again - some actual data - instead of biased owners rambling on with opinion Bearing in mind, of course, that we are referring to the mighty v-spec in this comparo (which is taken from bestmotoring in 96): * RX7 RS - 1280kg - 265ps. (4.83kg/ps). Standard sports model. RWD. * RX7 RZ - 1250kg (recaro racing seats, no rear seats) - 265ps. (4.72kg/ps). Top line car (but only mildly upgraded). RWD. * Supra RZ-S - 1490kg - 280ps. (5.32kg/ps). RWD. * GTO MR (3000GT) - 1610kg - 280ps. (6.6kg/ps). 4WD. * NSX-R - 1230kg - 280ps. (4.39kg/ps). RWD. * NSX - 1350kg - 280ps. (4.82kg/ps). RWD. * R33 GTR V-spec - 1530kg - 280ps.
