Good point guilt toy
-
Gotcha. Understand where you're coming from now. I still say check the CTS and AFM.
-
Low ignition timing causes high exhaust temps. I would take guilt toy up on his gracious offer for sure!! GT--where in eastern europe are you moving?
-
Most of the DSM guys recommend porting the internal gate. I would do it before you throw it on. Can do anything but help.
-
The ECU doesn't sense lower pressure and give more injector to make up for it. I'm not sure if that's what you were meaning though. OP-Does your air flow voltage spike along with the injector spike? It could be a loose connection to it or an intermittent boost leak. Also, if you have a faulty coolant temp sensor or loose connection to it, the ecu would see a really low temp for a second and push it into "start up" mode for a split second upping your fuel.

Exhaust Cannon Glowing Red With Ashes Coming Out

Most things I've seen say you actaully loose horespower doing that. De-cat pipe> high flow cat> regular cat> gutted cat when horspower is the determining factor. -
CEF, I think the control unit is a digital kinda thing, not analog 0-5v or 0-12v; unless you are talking about hooking it up the the motor directly. I don't know much about those things. Can you send me a link to the jaycar thing your talking about? I've never heard of jaycar--I'm assuming it's an aussie thing? Also, how much boost have you made it up to so far?
-
Yeah, I hope soon. There are a few people that are actually running them on gasoline engines with no ill effects so far (they are just manually opening and closing the variable a/r), but I'm waiting to see what the innards look like when the turbo comes off.
-
That first turbo you linked to is a variable geometry exhaust housing and will go anywhere from 5cm up to 22cm. It's LIGHT years ahead of anything garrett's putting out. Garrett with their "old tech" and all As soon as somebody figures out how to make it work with the computer controller not integrated into the factory ECU of a dodge pick up, it'll be the best turbo out there. Imagine a 600rwhp turbo that spools 1.5 bar by 2000rpm. That video was pretty interesting and it was cool seeing them blow those things up. Be ware of the copies.

My HX35/40 was originally internally gated, and we welded the flapper shut and put an external gate on it. My current HX40's 19cm ex housing is an external only design. CEF11 sounds like he found you just what you need, and going top mount, it'll be a snap to change the exhuast housings if you decide you need more top end pull
-
Yeah, 8 blade should get you there, but I'd hold out for the 7 blade if it were me. I always want more power though I'm not real familiar with the ex housing sixes for the HX35's. I'm not sure if the 12cm would limit you hp wise or not. They are cheap enough besides the install price though, so I say try both Are you going top mount or putting it on the stock mani?
-
I would bet money it's a typo. Never heard of it. To laggy for what? I think it would be great for spooling on a stock rb25. about a 90hp difference from the compressor maps.

Do R33 GTS4's have the same stout drivetrains a la GTR as the R32 versions do?

Holset Hx35w Installation In Standard Low Mount Position
Cjmartz2k replied to CEF11E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Sounds like you are really enjoying it man! I hope with that big old 3.0L you might evetually give an HX40 a shot, but it's going to be tough to fit that big sucker down there About the install, keep in mind that your installed price with you doing to the work is $1500, plus the turbo. A GT35r or something like it is going to have to have all the same stuff done to install it, it's just going to cost $1500 to start out with, then start adding in things for the install. GT35r is a good turbo though. Now let see some vids and dyno sheets! It'll motivate me to get mine up! -

I've never had the ring on, so I can't really compare, but it makes a pretty distinct sound from inside the cabin. Kinda like a jet engine starting or the sound a bus makes when it's puffing really hard trying to make it up a steep hill. You can hear it mostly from inside the car until the wastegates open and all hell breaks loose. Maybe yours is more noticeable since your running the internal gate. Could you post up a vid or something? Those vids of mine are with the old HX35/40 hybrid turbo and even a TO4e for some of them BTW, not the full boogy HX40. Your motivating me to make a nice compilation video with the new turbo on there now. That's cool to hear about spanking your CBR600R though. I have a healthy respect of bikes and know most cars will get blown away by most bikes. I took one of my buddies out for a spin after work one afternoon, and we got caught at the light next to a CBR600RR and a long straight stretch of road in front of us. He was blipping the throttle trying to antogonize me, and my buddy starts talking about how his brother has one and how the stupid cars try to race him all the time and get spanked and how cars are just no where as fast as bikes. The light turns green, and I start slipping the clutch but going slow waiting for him to get on it. He let me get a couple of cars down the road before he dumped, hung his legs back, it and put the front tire in the air. I punched (I'm on drag radials from the previous night's activites) it and spanky quickly realised he wasn't going to be able to play around with me. I saw him put the front tire down and tuck about half way through my second gear. Ran it out through the top of 4th and he never gained an inch. Scared the piss out of my passenger too. I told him to make sure and tell his brother about it. -

Just so I don't threadjack this thread, here's some info I posted up a while ago about my experience with holsets. If you can't find the info you're looking for in that, just ask me in that thread so I don't steal CEF11's thunder http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ho...-s-t247809.html -

I'm not knocking it, don't get me wrong. I was just expressing a little surprise. How did you like it on the scooby over all? -

Interesting. You said that was on a 2.5L, right? My HX35/40 hybrid was at a 1.5 bar by less than 4krpm. The vid is kind of deceiving. I have since learned to use the hand controller and just shoot for a certain boost number, get out of it, and look at the peaks. My full on HX40 with a 19cm housing does the same kind of numbers on the hand controller as the vid shows, but it's laggier for sure. I'd knock a few hundred rpm off of whatever you see on the vid as the tach seems to lag behind a bit. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Spoolin...id-a_147457.htm The HX30 I think would be to small for a RB25, but that's not experience speaking. -
That's a damn good idea. Hopefully I'll never have to use it, but I'm going to throw that one in the old bag-o-tricks for sure. Nice tip

Do you have a high volume oil pump? Most of the DSM guys in the states run restrictors on them depending on where they get the oil feed from and whether or not they have the "balance shafts" installed.
