Vids Of Your Cars At Motorsport Events
G_T_R replied to super_s13's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Quite obvoisly not me, but far more exciting to watch then anything i could ever do!!!!!! If the link does not work just copy and paste. For all those who have not seen this..............ENJOY! http://video.kenblockracing.com/flash/play...p;video_id=9183 -
I know its difficult to judge the general emotion of a post online Harry, so thought that a few of these might help ( ). Now i'm thinking maybe a box of kleenex will do the trick!! I dont recall "rushing to anyones defence". Harry, I was until recently unaware of your dissagreements with certain other members of this forums. That post for Lakeside was merely more info regarding to total track time between two different organisations, (both of which i do track days with). Perhaps you should take a bit more notice of you own words "bud"... "nothing like some healthy paranoina".

Still making new friends i see

No secret............will be sure to post it up when i find out, other matters were more pressing at the time of conversation . Regardless, all tyres he currently uses are capable of those times within a second or so of each other. There are quite a few more factors to take into account with this car that are a bigger contribution to those times.

I think its pretty safe to say its a mixture of them all, even though he was down 30rwkw at the time. If you really want to know, give him a call. I think it is also pretty safe to say that there is still quite a bit in it.....possibly another couple of seconds. Now I know some people may laugh at that, but they qoviosly dont know Sam. He was actually quite dissapointed with the car on the day.

SM Motorsport GTR Driver: Sam Markov Date: 24.10.2008 Winton lap time: 1.28.30 (max speed 215kph) More to come as still unhappy with suspension and down about 30 rwkw

Would love to do the last Lakeside sprint....but cant run on the Hoosier's..they wont let me(even though they are no quicker that semi's, oh, and some people cry about it) Anyone have a set of nearly stuffed RE55's in 255/40 17 they want to sell??
-
The only way to do it
-
Will they allow Hoosiers at Lakeside, when run by the QR guys?? Or are "R" tyres only allowed
-
Does anyone know of anywhere that has a pair of 4000 series (slotted only) rotors in stock. Rear rotors only req'd. Part no. 929 for v-spec 32, or 33/34. Apparently DBA doesn't have any in the country atm??????
-
The "DOT" is relative to the USA only....but even then there are legality issues. As stated above...there should still be a "not for highway use" or "for racing purposes only" somewhere on the sidewall. The R5/R6 Hoosier also has the DOT on the sidewall but with the accompanying "warning" about street use.

Geez...Noel no stuffing around with posting that up!! Ha ha congratulations and keep those times coming down good to see

Not sure if the V8 Supercars still run a heater for the oil but i know that they used to, (they also run water to oil coolers) . The only difference with them i guess is that they dont use multigrade oils. Its definitely of major benefit as any engine builder would agree to have oil at operating temp on start up, not to mention pre-priming the system (if possible). If the option is there, use it for sure. Maybe someone can confirm if the heaters are still in use with the V8's??

V8's To Get Olympic Park Street Circuit
G_T_R replied to Black Widow's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Street circuit ...........looks like a pretty crap layout too -
Good to hear.............but that M3 is one of Sams customers cars. It probably helps that Sam does all the work and gets to drive it but!
-
I cut the standard dump pipe off on a previous R32 Gtst of mine.....made a dump pipe for it and welded it on without heating the original "flange". Surprisingly it did not crack, even after 6 or 7 sprints. I then sold the car and the current owner hasn't had an issue with any cracking even after 3 years. I'm very surprised was expecting it to have cracked by now.
-
Hey Roy.......Sam should be there in the M3 and if its not raining, I think you might be impressed by some of the times he is expecting to do. (all going well of course)

I seen your car at QR last month...congrats on one of the cleanest 32's around.

Just to clarify......It was about 45 timed laps and and closer to 74 total for the day if you include warm up and cool down laps (+ 1 emergency last minute lap delivering a fire extinguisher). The number of laps is just an approximation from the odometer reading.Total track distance according to my odometer was 177klm (i did say about 180lkm). My first session wasn't timed as the timing was still being set up early on, but all the rest of them were. Another big thanks to the timing crew for their effort. Not saying that i dont like seeing my own lap times, i do....but if laps times are that important, just get a lap timer. They are not that expensive. I've got one in my car......but to tell you the truth, i'm just bloody excited that Lakeside is back up and running again, timing or no timing. I'm sure there will be permanant timing facilities in place eventually, but until then, who cares....especially if its raining for half the day. Bring on the next one.

Time Attack - Lakeside Trackday
G_T_R replied to MountainRunner's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Aside from the rain (ok for those of us with 4WD) and a couple of incidents it was a top day with plenty of track time for those who wanted it. Big thanks to Paul, all the volunteers, marshals and timing crew. Even with the rain and traffic, still managed to do a few low 59's and stay on the track, and drive home....so very happy. -
It might be half of what you pay with timeattack.com.au ( i assume you meant this "third party") but 3 maybe 4 runs (as per entry form) equals half of the track time. I just finished a sprint with Paul's Time attack at Lakeside and in total did about 180km of track time...........or about 45+ laps!!! I'd say thats pretty good value for money. Big thumbs up for a very good day as per usual. But...the more trackdays at Lakeside, the better i reckon!!!

As the topic says i'm after a standard set of R34 GTR diff gears.

I'll be sure to keep you all informed of the GTR times when its finished...the way that is looking it could be a while longer yet. C'mon its only a poor little beemer with a pissy little amount of grunt, less than half the power of most of the quick GTR's running around the circuits...........but duly noted, i'll refrain from posting Sam's times until his Skyline is going again.
