CAR IS SOLD
-
The car is sold
-
The price has been reduced to $1500.00 Ph 0402234528
-
I have now received a quote of $3600 to supply and install another motor with less than 100,000 ks
-
For anyone who might think of replacing the motor, Brisbane Motor Imports have stagea motors RB25det Neo motors for $2450.00
-
So that everyone knows what happened. I was cruising down the M1 when suddenly the engine lost power and stopped then all the smoke started pouring out from under the bonnet. My mechanic said it has dropped a hose from the back of the motor. The motor has no compression at all so it needs a rebuild. If someone bought it to part it out they could probably make a bit of money. The only thing not working is the motor. I will listen to reasonable offers

It is at North Maclean. about 10ks south of Browns Plains

Towing With The C34 Stagea - Our Experience
oldie replied to C34S2STAG's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I asked this question a few years ago and no one knew the answer. What is the official tow capacity of a series 2 stagea. I am pretty sure you cant just whack a 2500 kg tow bar on it and legally tow that weight. Craig -
You guys who are towing your race cars etc, are your tow bars legally rated to that weight. I want to know what happens if you have a prang towing 1300kg when your tow bar might be rated lower than that. Does the insurance company wipe you if your towbar is rated under what you tow. Craig

Ngk Iridium/platinum Spark Plugs
oldie replied to RS4StagMan's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Those of you who keep their plugs for 150,000k I can only assume you are taking them out every now and then cause if you dont I imagine you are going to be snapping plugs when you try to remove them -
For those of you in Brisbane wanting shift kits, Western Suburbs Automatics at Rocklea have given me a quote of $595.00 to have a shift kit installed in my series 2. It also includes a transmission service.

I did this trip recently in our motorhome. It is a great trip, the road is pretty smooth and wide so dont move off the road when the road trains come past just stay in your lane as there is plenty of room. If you move over into the dirt all you do is make it harder for them to see. When approaching Wedgetail eagles which are on the edge of the road slow down as they are very slow to get up off the road. At one stage in the motorhome we had two wedgies, wings fully spread only meters in front of our windsreen. A magnificent sight. The number of times we saw roadkill and then a dead wedgie 20 meters up the road because they couldnt get out of the way was very sad. Carry a CB radio as mobile phones are useless except in the towns. The little hand held ones will suffice. It can be a source of entertainment listening to the truckies. It is also a good way to tell the truckies you are about to pass. I dont want this to sound racist but do not stop for the indigenous people who "appear" to have broken down. If you are concernd about them report it at the next roadhouse. Do not stop at a small town called Elliot. You will understand why when you drive through it Take you time to visit some of the little pubs and roadhouses they can be amusing. It is not everday you can do a trip like this so take the time to enjoy it. Cheers Craig

Not Impressed With Well Known Workshop
oldie replied to oldie's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
For those of you who are interested as to where I received the great service and honesty the workshop is "Service Performance Automotive" at unit 2/20 Lancashire st Acacia Ridge. Ph 0433128957 or 37117700. cheers Craig -
My stagea S2 was due for it 100k service so I thought I would do the right thing and book it into a specialist Turbo place in Brisbane and asked for a general service as well. I even spoke to them about installing iridium plugs and what difference they make and not to take out the K&N panel. I left the car there for 1.5 days to give them plenty of time to do it properly. I went to pick up the car and they tell me they forgot to do the general service. I was pretty pissed off as I had driven 50K's just to use this well known workshop. But it was the "Ah well never mind attitude" just rebook it that I was put off by. He knew damn well I was too pissed off to come back to them. I was not going to drive to this place again. So I booked it in to a little workshop just near my work, He told me my Spark plugs were pretty old and had become rusted in. He got them out but broke 4 of them in the process. He claimed it looked like an attempt was started to remove the plugs very recently going by all the finger prints. So the conclusion I come to is, at the well known performance workshop they saw the problem with the plugs and thought it was just too hard to do the right thing and very easy to pretend they just forgot! Weak bastards! It is amazing to me the amount of trouble it is to get a decent mechanic for these cars. My new mechanic has the car running great now, His service was terrific he even cleaned the floor mats and wiped over the interior, cleaned the wheels and tyre blacked the wheels. He also charged a very fair price considering all he had to do. Craig

My S2 has just started doing some strange things too. When idling if I give the high beams a flash everything stops for a second, motor stops, lights go out. no ignition lights. Sometimes when I apply the brakes while driving everything gives a flicker. Today I turn the key to start up and nothing happens at all. Try again a few seconds later and everything works normally. Does this sound like a bad connection on main fuse perhaps. cheers Craig

I have my motorhome insured with Ken Tame Insurance brokers which is underwritten by Lumleys. I just asked them for a quote on my 98 series 2, full comprehensive, rating 1 protection, 1 windscreen per year. I nearly fell off my chair. $350.00 excess. 1 year is $433.00. I dont know if it is because I have the motorhome with them but hell that is good
-
I rang DGA insurance and they do not insure stagea's
-
Has anybody else had alternator problems, if so what did it cost to have fixed as I am sure I just got ripped off.
-
I used to go on a few Torana cruises so I could make an effort to come along to this one.
-
I have had several large cars over the last 30 years, HQ V8's, V8 commodores, Falcons and Mazda 929 and they all used to get around 11 - 13 lt/100Ks. I now get this same figure from my series 2 and none of them had the power I have now. 23 MPG is not that bad from a big car.

I havent seen a Stagea for months now there is an S1 across the road at work in Acacia Ridge
