  1. hey mates does the rb20det have an electric choke? i think mine may be stuck when starting. does the ecu control this? mine takes 3-5 cranks in the morning when cold to start and i dont think its ignition related. anything that could cause this problem? any valves or?
  2. hey mate your car sounded pretty mean but the screamer pipe does make some noise. the first post is my car, litte rb2 spoolin.
  3. ehh mates my rb20dets o2 sensor wire was cut from the loom, i reconnected, seems to running fine, but which wires go where as far as the two thinner wires? the big fat brown wire is a given, but do the other two matter if they are reversed or not? anyone know which goes where on what side of the o2 sensor or pinout?

  8. haha good one. It just sounds a little different in hot hot weather, not after any fast and furious mumbo jumbo, as people hear the slow wine of the rb20s turbo at around 2-3k. (blitz intake sus lm helps with turbo noise) sounds like sex! damn shes a loud one

  11. hey mates I've noticed when I rev my rb20 up with no load, it doesn't make the same ''chhhhhh'' noise as it did before. stock bov, blitz sus intake, high flow exhaust. maybe because it's alot warmer out now? I was thinking maybe the actuaor is getting worn? thinking about getting an hks adjustable one, anyone know about those? cheers
  12. borrow some coil packs, see if that works. Do one thing at a time, perhaps afm too. Mine was missfiring and running like crap, and it turned out to be the ecu. sounds like it could be a pack too. but theres several possibilities with these older cars, things get tired!

  14. hey mates, no p/s is getting on my nerves along with the rack's steering joint which pumps will work, lookin' for a non hicas pump , silvia has no hicas, tried taking the splines out of the back of the rb20 pump, did nothing. then lost some fluid and it was bloody screaming, so I guess its tin cans now
  15. brand new autometer gauge is off boost by 2-3 lbs! lol

  17. If my crank angle sensor was on its way out, would the engine have to turn over several times for the ecu to read where the crank is at, then fire? Takes me a long time to start my rb20 cold.
  18. i had some problems with my rb20, does it sound weak when idling? bubbly? try switching ECUs, solved my problem. I'd try all the little stuff, or borrow stuff, before spending alot on coil packs my .02
  19. I was running the silver tagged ECU on my rb20 until it died, using the blue tag ECU now, seems to be working fine, but has a horrible start up, cranks and cranks and sputters'fires up. Anyone tell me more about these? What would cause a rough start up? runs cherry after she pops up. Cheers
  20. from what i've been told rb20det coil packs should have resistance of .7 ohms to be healthy. my first coil pack read .3, second .0, when no testing is being done with my ohm meter there is a 1 on the screen. I tested the third pack and the 1 didn't move? Coil pack leads from front of pack go A_B_C I tested a-b bad pack?
  21. its a strong running motor, i just changed spark plugs , and now it breaks up at all rpms slightly, i used delco double platinum since thats the only ones i could find today, cross referenced with pfr5a-11 .... i am using the silvia non turbo stock fuel pump with 120 km on it..... maybe it is on its way out? the plugs look overheated
  22. hey guys my car studders at low rpm before boost, checked my spark plugs and the top of the electrodes looks like sandpaper gritt. I do extensive idling when on the way to work with a stock rb20det except for intake/exhaust. Half of the plug is brown/half white-ish colored. I heard a rumble when revving it, could be cas bearing, but it sort of went away. getting new sparkies soon , but they def. did not look like this before, looks unhealthy. leaking out? my camera sucks so be patient , just look at the half and half pictures to get an idea.
  23. i have a stock rb20det except for exhaust, hks, and blitz sus intake. i am running a high flow cat even. it studders/bucks at low rpm BEFORE boost, feels fine when its boosting. i just put a silvia non turbo bumper on and the intercooler isnt getting air until i cut the whole when i buy a blade for my jigsaw but i am not beating on it. i have my spark plug cover off and one bolt holding the ignition and ground wire to the block. the block is grounded at the intake and turbo side. any ideas? changeing spark plugs help? runs rich at low rpm, does anyone have a normal a/f metering chart/dyno graph i could look at? it dynoed 200hp to the wheels two months ago all stock max boost 8.3 pounds and went down to 7 over high rpm thanks shawn
  24. alright i got some voltage out of the white wire! I'm going to the dyno tomorrow to see how its running. turns out the rear trunk compartments on each end of the car had vents that were sucking exhaust fumes into the car when the windows are down. are the rear of the skylines sealed? I need a lower lip so the exhaust can't get sucked under...and a spoiler, and paint!
  25. I have a single LED light on my ECU , i'll check the diagnostics. anyone know the o2 sensor parameters to test (ohms)
