I would say the gains would be minimal. But good enough. The catback itself would have given the biggest gain. In my experience, i started with the HKS Catback, then put on a de-cat pipe and there was squat all difference. Basically you wont fell any noticable gain.

Wheel Sizes & Offsets For Skylines
gotRICE? replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I want that so bad! But shit peopel ask a premium for 34GTR wheels! Looks good man. Maybe add a bit of camber th the rear, help with clearance? -
I think it has a similar effect to a balance pipe in v8's. If you didnt have it it would be like having two 4cylinder motors creaming their balls off, and you would loose the V8 grumble. And in this case, two 3cylinder turbo motors. I wonder what that would sound like

It usually gets blown out the tailpipe when you really floor that shit. Carbon buildup is a funny thing, its not good, but half the time when you run an engine cleaner or whatever through the oil and fuel you tend to start burning oil and blowing blue smoke.. So sometimes the carbon buildup is a good thing as its sealing off its wear and tear from being old. Id be shit scared to run any in the oil in my Hiace, 400,000km (that the speedo reads, its wayyy more) and piston slap when its really cold... dam if i cleaned the carbon out of that id probly burn more oil than i could put in it.

Yeah its a pretty good price, so ill have a good inspection of it before it goes on. I always thought that x-force stuff wasnt the greatest, iv seen a set of their headers, and shit. The S/S is paper thin!! Build quality looks great tho, and in this case, the x-force is more expensive. We will see.

R33 Misfire After Water Temp Gauge Install...?
gotRICE? replied to swanny180's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Do you consider a misfire the burble noise you hear, or the loud pop, more often than not followed by a orange flame out the tailpipe? Just curious.. mine very rarely burbles under decelleration, but between gear changes when giving it max boost blah blah, it pops. Also with that little "tap" on decel it will too But thats for Baller flame effect y0. (im a very new skyline owner, so the flame was ammusing for a while untill i read it can be deadly to your exhaust wheel ) -
From what nearly every thread that questions like this have been asked, it more or less is irrelivent what the final number is (within reason) so long as each cylinder is pretty much the same within 4-5 points i believe.

Can Anyone Tell Me What Type Of Rims Are These?
gotRICE? replied to Styline GTR's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
They look like Volk Evo 3's. Could be wrong, but i was bidding hard on a set for my 33 not so long ago and theyre pretty much identical! -
I always thought black cars looked a bit odd with CF bonnets.. You get that sexy black effect, then a asshat grey bonnet. I always wanted to get an OEM style CF bonnet, but paint it the colour of the car. Less in-your-face-look-at-me kinda. And i also had the plan of re-clearing it with a tinted clear so it pretty much looks like the factory colour, but when your up close you can see a hint of CF weave

Have you tried a wrecker? Probly the best bet!
-
Are you saying i should ceramic coat a stainless one too? Or is that just mild steel?
-
Do they have a webpage? Will be interested to get a price on them, if he will ship to NZ
-
I was hoping maybe you could shed some light into the matter as i was looking at one myself haha, but if you had a good reason not to go there id keep hunting! I guess it depends on what you want to spend! I mean the HKS front pipe alone is around $400, and with that you still have the stock dump pipe.. For the price personally it looks pretty dam good! Especially as its a split dump pipe, and front pipe in one. And will directly bolt up to OEM turbo and cat/decat. Ill just go ahead and get it and let you know.
-
Any reason why you dont like the JJR one?

Move to NZ. De-cat isnt illegal
-
Interesting! I might nip out with the 'ol G-Timer and see what my 33 will do. On the g-timer i was getting 5.8 0-100km/h in my Integra Type R, i never had the balls to do a full 1/4 on the street so never got a g-reading. But a 13.8 was an official 1/4. I think id struggle to get into the 13's with a Intake and 3" exhaust on a 33? (de-cat, HKS Hi-Power Silent)

It wouldnt be a bad idea covering your pod, simple job so just do it. But yeah i agree, soak it all with degreaser, let it sit, then blast away. So long as you dont be silly, and like direct the spray onto electrics and hold it there lol. A quick sqipe over isnt going to hurt. I high pressure cleaned the shit out of my Hiace, it was so fffing dirty, was going at it for about 20 mins. Never missed a beat. Also used to soak the ITR engine in degreaser, and just hose it off. That worked too.
-
The theory is there, but if your Turbo is boosting at 9psi and is limited to that via a solenoid or boost controller, then the limit will still apply, each filter will just be doing half the work. Does adding a 3rd pod filter triple the intake capacity? I wouldnt think so. And in the case of a twin turbo, each turbo has its own filter. Totally different scenario!
-
Would it be sucking in twice as much air? Or would each pod filter be sucking half each of what the original one was? "It makes you Think" (you'd probly need to be a Kiwi to get that )

Personally i think having 3 gagues on the pillar looks a bit much. I didnt read everything but the way i see it, if your into the track, like i am, having the gagues on the DIN of the headunit makes you look away from the road for too long, as you almost have to turn your head and look down. (actually, even on the street, where it could cause more problems!) Whereas on the pillar you barely have to glance at them to see whats going on. This is the Setup on my old ITR. I custom made the pods, and it didnt obstruct the view too much as to become a problem. If id had my way they would have hugged the pillar more, but it was hard work as it was Yes POS Autogague ones But they were more for piece of mind that i wasnt going to skyrocket oil temps or loose pressure, i just read them as if it went a hell of alot higher than normaland kept going, it was getting warm. (Read 90deg normal, 140 after 20-30 mins track ) I dont have experience with Dash mounted ones, but IMHO they look like ass unless you have an OEM gage holder like R34's have. Then it looks nice.
-
Hey man, dash looks good! Do you know if the light in the A'pexi EL2 can be changed? Iv never seen a black faced one lit up at night before, and now seeing yours, i was wondering if you can change it to white (not face, the illumination) Cos the dash on my 33 is really white with brilliant red needles, so wanted the A'pexi gague to look as similar as possible Ok so it doesnt look that white in the photo But im going to get either white LED's or the bulbs i use as parklights (soo white! ) Need to get rid of the poo poo yellow coming through the boost gague, and odometer bits Has anoyne had experience with white LED's? Every time i get them they end up being purple :s Hence giving up.

Wheel Sizes & Offsets For Skylines
gotRICE? replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Im having alot of issues with wheel choice! Iv come down to a set of 17x8 and 17x9 Wedsport SA-90's for my R33 S2 25-t. They dont come in alot of offsets and i was wondering if anyone could advise me on what to get? I was thinking +35 for the rear, and +25 for the front.. does anyone know if this will actually work? Would i be better off going for +35 on the front too or whaaa? in 9" you can only get +35 and +20.. so limited for choice there! and 8" you can get +25, +35 and +42.. hmmm -
You should be fine man. I had a Mugen 1.3bar on my Integra Type R, and they are known to have top tank weaknesses. Had it on for 3 years and was at the racetrack running 8500rpm constantly.

R34gtt Intercooler Into Stagea
gotRICE? replied to Sydneykid's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
This has been a great read! I was lucky enough to pick up an R34 GTT Intercooler for $70NZD Picked it up tonight. Some of this R&R (WTF?) and timing stuff gives me a headache tho Im so new to the turbo scene that i really dont know alot about it. Currently i have a 98 R33, with 49,000km, HKS Silent Power cat-back exhaust, A'PEXi intake and earthed stock solenoid. So essentially still running stock boost. I have a de-cat pipe on its way (yay for no cat regs (YET!) in NZ )) seeing as i know squat, am i going to have any pinging issues or anything i should be doing to aid with these mods? Will be getting a split dump/front pipe very soon too. Noticed the bumper and rear end in general is getting rather fuel-dirty, and i know that the 33's tend to run rich when you free them up (is this what R&R is?) So i guess after the R34 Intercooler, some sort of fuel management might be needed. Has new stock gapped copper plugs too.
