  1. K, about there, GTS-T S1 swapping the ECU to a GTR R33 (both PFC's) I see only one thing, the throttle valve, is this like a high idle system? I dont see it on the GTS-T ECU pin out, but its there on the GTR. besides that its near identical besides the MAF vs/ mafs. Somone must have tried this before right? Thanks for the help guys!!!
  2. Just working out some options, if one removes the VVT on a RB25 with poncams which are obviously design for VVT, replace the cam grear, replace with adjustable gear, how much of the loss could one expect to make up by dialing the poncam VS having left it VVT? Cheers
  3. No, the air flow speed over the sensor would be slower in 100mm than 80mm, with hotwire the reduced speed would = a reduced temprature on the heated sensor = lower voltage.
  4. Yes this is complex, but honestly I cant see why the following is such a bad idea: Cut the sensor bar out of a Z32 or Q45 (ill use a Q45 because I have loads of them laying around) and make a mounting flange, and mount it into the 100mm intake, the effective area of a 80mm ID Q45 is 5024mm2 going to 100mm would make it 7850mm2, also what would be a pretty nifty idea would be to use a short 40mm length of 40mm ID lexan thin wall tube and actualy mount it around the sensor bar so that the air flow threw the sensor is straight and undisturbed. this will give you a MAF capable of a lot more CFM before maxing, and with the PFC one could just re-scale it as needed. Can anyone tell me why the above wouldnt work as a cheap and easy (well easy for me) method to solve maxing Z32 or Q45's ? another nice thing is it will have near no restriction.
  5. Im making enough that the Z32 maxed at 1.4bar and the Q45 maxed at 1.5bar, I used 3 different Z32's and 4 different Q45's all 7 maxed within .1bar of each other. I have double and tripple checked, there are no leaks what so ever anywhere and ive changed my intake setup 3-4 times over the last 2 years also with no change in being able to run more boost before it max's. If it wasnt for the Poncams/vvt i would rip it out and use a D-jet R33 PFC, I have had similar results using Z32's and Q45's on all the SR20's I have done as well, all come 320-350wkw they are right up in voltage, using all different set up's and hosts of different intake lenghts, air filters ectr, how you guys get so many WKW out of them/what im doing wrong is beyond me, but its repeatable threw all the vehicles I have done over the last 7-8 years...
  6. Humm, Are you guys that use Q45's using the newer year Q45 (pink sticker 31U00 E60 ) or older Q45 (yellow sticker 61U00 / P60) MAF's? All the ones I have here are the slightly older yellow sticker ones... which seem to be only hold slightly more than the Z32's
  7. I use my car to demonstrate to a lot of customers the ease of the PFC, I thought of going with a GTR PFC but ive got a set of poncams which are obviously design for the VVT to be active, which I would like to retain. Im not a fan of blow threw, Will look at the new lighting maf,
  8. Z32 and Q45 dont cut it, running a PFC in my RB25DET S1 Need larger, anyone tried cutting the sensor out the Z32 or Q45 and installing it into a larger diameter pipe? thinking of cutting out the sensor bar and installing it into my 100mm intake pipe as well as putting a smaller 40mm ID lexan tube round the sensor about 40mm long to stop air swirl or cross flow effecting it. Just wondering if anyones tired anything like this? thought of changing to a GTR ecu but ive just got poncams for the VVT, dont want to kill that now.
  9. South Africa, I think the added velocity in the piping would help a bit, obviously with in reason...Not that it should be used as an example but if you look at N/A cars how much a to large exhaust system hurts performance, that is because there is no velocity, not saying its the same on F/I cars, but you might find it has a similar effect. I know we just did 2 Seat Cupra touring cars (2L FSI turbo VW motors) at work and they have a very specific exhaust diameter they are spec'd to run with (besides for homoligation), one of the Spanish guys setting the car up was jabbering somthing about optimum flow while not hurting velocity, Suppose the only way to really know if your system is optimal for your setup is a lot of dyno work coupled with a exhaust presure and flow logging system (way to much effort!!!)
  10. Obviously the drop in velocity makes a big difference, Ive got my RB stuck in an S14 so its also very tight and can only fit 3" for a down pipe with my top mount GT35, Ill keep the system like it is and besides, 4" stainless here would work out to about $1000 excluding the flex pipe and mufflers.
  11. Plumb back in a long smooth radius right before the bottom flange of my down pipe, I run a turn down off the down pipe for drag's. I dont run a cat, dont need to, and from my down pipe to the tail pipe there is less than 80 degree's of bend threw out the system. My problem with going bigger than 76mm is ground clearance, some roads suck here, and on the street I like it to be fairly quiet, but if there is decent performance to be made, well yeah
  12. I see a lot of you guys running 3.5 or 4" exhausts with your 3076 and 35R sized turbo combo's, do you notice a good increase with performance running these size systems over a good manderal 3"? My GT3582R has the 4bolt 3" outlet, wondering if its worth ripping the manderal 3" out and putting a 4" in.
  13. Awsome, any advantages going with the R34 GTR vs the R32/33 GTR D-jetro or is it just pin out changes? What sort of prices would you guys think I could get for the 3 month old GTS-T powerfc (last one nengun sold) now that they are discontinued? Sorry, its bit off topic,
  14. A touch off topic, but is the S1 R33 GTS-T the same actual connector onto the ECU as the R33 or R34 GTR? I want to go with the D-Jetro on my car as well, presume its a simple re-pin on the ecu to get it working above the usual mods needed to run Map/temp ectr?
  15. I ran 300rwkw for 12 months and 352wkw for 6 months on my stock internaled RB25, was at every drag event, every track event, and used every day to work and back only now is it starting to get some blow by after 18 months of abuse. Got my poor S14 down the unprepaired 400m in 11.6 @210kph in full street trim with coil overs setup for track racing (10kg/8kg) I recon the methanol injection I run is a big part into why it lasted this long at 1.5 to 1.6bar on a hybrid GT3076R .82
  16. Just wondering what you guys think of thermal barrier coatings on turbo motors, mainly tubular turbo manifolds, exhaust housings and down pipes, External coatings are great like the Jet-hot and Cermakrome stuff from techline, what interests me more is the TLHB internal coatings, some guys swear by it, others say the risk of it coming off and hitting the turbo arnt worth the pro's in heat reduction and faster spool up. What you think?
  17. Even a pic of the engine bay during a rebuild will work if the heater hoses are in place still
  18. Man, Ive been batteling to get some heater hoses for my RB25 S14 for almost 2 years now, I see the R32 and R33/R34 look similar and samco make kits for them now, Please can somone post a picture of an R32 and a R33 or R34 engine bay with heater hoses still in place so i can see how similar they look, i presume they are 20mm on the GTR's? MANY THANKS!!!
  19. Agree, the run rotor's well but I have had drama with them on piston cars, especialy with coil packs. The Q45 I have on my shelf which was in the car a few weeks ago is 22680-61U00 A36-000-P60 3803R
  20. Oii, maybe I should stop buying intercoolers with holes in them or somthing... Clearly im doing somthing backwards because I have NEVER been able to get that much out of them! but I know for a fact that the Q45 im running now lets me run higher boost than the Z32 I had on, and that was all I changed, now from 1/2 way threw 2nd gear im running 5.1v to the finnish line in a semi pathetic 11.5 1/4 @210kph with a terrible 2.1sec 60ft (yep our local track is terrible)... ehh back to the drawing boards.
  21. 410rwkw on a single Z32? even at 300-320wkw on the SR20's ive done I get close maxing Z32's... how the hell do you get 410wkw out of one? Maybe this south african air is to dence
  22. should be, ive actualy changed it out twice (sold my ones to customers while i was waiting for other parts to arrive) all were the same, will confirm part numbers tonight as well.
  23. Ive actualy maxed it with a 3076R .82 at 370wkw at 1.65bar, previously maxed a z32 on the same setup at 1.45bar. Its now a 35R and I plan to run a lot of boost on the new motor and want to sort it
  24. RB25DET with a GT35R, Car is fitted with a PowerFC and an FC Edit, Problem is at 1.4bat im maxing the Q45 MAF, need to be able to support another 100wkw with my new build up, I see a lot of people talking about options (with keeping the PFC) like running dual filters, ectr but nothing cut and dry. Has anyone tried cutting the sensor out of the MAF and fitting it into a 100mm pipe? (wont be in the middle though) or using a cost effective MAP sensor converter or somthing thats not going to cost huge amounts of $$$ yet will support higher air flow? Thanks
  25. Just wondering what you guys think of Bob Remano Performance in QLD for performance work? in particular to Nissans? Thanks
