I was only out there to test the half tuned Autronic SM4 because tuner and I want to see how well the cooling system cope with running max boost on the twin low mount turbo with minimal timing . I was only able to do 3-3.5 laps before oil temp got to 125C Car had crappy old Toyo RA-1 and still has not been lowered properly since the defect clearance. I checked wheel alignment when I got home and it was all over the place. Front height was 360-370mm and rear was 380mm. God know what the toes were doing lol I was told, I did a 58.5 It has been a while since I drove out there. It would be good to get things sorted and get some more practice with this car without chop and change to please Transport inspector or Lakeside residents

I removed my race exhaust, got an exhaust shop to chopped up my old HKS street exhaust and weld in an Australian muffler and it was not enough..so I gave up. Yes the race exhaust is back...it's probably making in excess of 105dB at the moment. Quite loud without the helmet.

Did you hang around for the afternoon mate or did you have to leave? It would have been nice to catch up. Last time I was at Lakeside I was asked to leave. My car even with the street legal exhaust was 2dB over the reduced peak noise limit (95dB) at Lakeside. This was measure at the far end of the back straight where the car was in high gear and rpm. I could have slowed down around there but it defeat the purpose of "time trial". I would love to come back but don't want to transport the car all the way up there to only have a few laps and a black flag for 97dB at 9krpm. I also got defected before for using RE55 on the street. I am so over driving car with restrictions now (from QLD transport or Lakeside). I will turn it into a full track car and make QR it's home Come over and say hello next time Marlin. I have the black r32 with the white wheels and was testing the tin can on the boot lol

Would a stronger pair of wastegates' actuators redice this loss in high rev range Martin?

Hks Japan 2.8 Engine Build
9krpm replied to elrodeo666's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
It's good to see your project is progressing well but I cringe every time I see these pics. elrodeo666 please help your mate and tell him to wear a P1 mask (equivalent to a paper mask at least). The aluminium dust is associated with Alzheimer and early dementia, not to mention other problems associated with metals and silica impurities exposure from the casted head. -
Dazmo's R33gtr Build

My Autronic SM4 is hooked up to an oil pressure sensor and drops the max rpm if it reads lower oil pressure than usual. You can also rig up a pressure switch sensor with cuts ignition/injectors if pressure is below certain level. -
Hks Japan 2.8 Engine Build

Thanks Matt Thanks for the "expensive carrot" mate. It would be nice to have some more midrange power but I have to save it for tyres and other bits for the circuit. The car has missed enough track days for R&D. It's time to get back and have some fun and worry about the midrange power later. I do hope that you get it though -

Hks Japan 2.8 Engine Build

That's awesome news Matt. If you can, could you show the dyno of vcam off and vcam on? What rpm does the cam switch over and is it a gradual switch or immediate? Beside, rpm is there any other factor (eg throttle position, load etc) that affect this transition? It's very interesting that you are using the v-cam with a small-ish pair of turbo. Most results I've seen are with huge turbo, which make this even more interesting to see -
No prob with mine

Hks Japan 2.8 Engine Build
9krpm replied to elrodeo666's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
It's never enough power with sticky tyres and especially once you get the hang of it. It sounds like a good idea to install the V-cam later for comparison but don't you have to reshim the lifters etc etc It might costs more in the end. From what you are describing it sounds like one will get more out of the v-cam with an ecu that is capable of dual maps. One map for the v-cam off and one map for the v-cam on. That probably explains why your mate at HKS doesn't think the FC is capable. Most other ECUs in Australia, Autronic or Vipec/G4 or Motec, should be able to do this though. -

I would love to test it out on my OS rb26/30 + Jun 11.35 setup but fund doesn't permit either and was hoping that elrodeo666 did not change his mind. -

Very nice build mate. It's interesting that you ditched the v-cam. I am hoping to see some good analysis of them. Please keep us posted tangomatt What is the max cam lift with the V-cam? -
Trust 517z Vs Hks Gt-ss Vs Garrett 2860-7's
9krpm replied to ChakGTR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yes I had them on rb26 as well. Xrate in Tasmania had them on pretty much the same setup as mine. They are good balance for street, circuit and drag. There is some lag, but not much to affect results. Just for some comparison, I did 11.1 with them on first run at the drag strip and second run snapped an axle. This was with aggressive camber and semislicks. I've not been back because i will probably get kicked off. Xrate ran 10's with them in the straight. At QR raceway, I did 57sec on the sprint track with them around 4 years ago. Fastest GTR at the time was doing 55s. This was with a heavy sound system in the car as well lol Car will definitely be easier and might be faster to drive on the track with a smaller pair of turbo. With the rb2630, they are a bit restrictive for top end. Car felt like a v8 with turbo and then dies at around 7krpms. It will be awesome for circuit but a bit boring for other things so I went bigger Hope that helps -
If you want someone who can actually tune the factory R35 ECU, give these guys a call http://www.bpschiptek.com.au/content/?id=2 I am fairly happy with their services.

Sorry I can't let you know who did it because of forum's rule. It was not done on the GC. There wasn't an authorised dealer in GC at the time.

Installing Ruzic Torque Split Controller
9krpm replied to tricstar's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The product is obsolete or almost obsolete. It's Paul's hobby and not really a mainstream business. He only made a couple for enthusiasts so there was not enough profit to put a lot of R&D in the instruction. I think he has been making a few more as requested but he is busy with other projects now. I intalled mine and thought the instruction was fairly straight forward. You should get a power source that is on when the key is ON and remains on during Start. I wired up a relay switch from the ECU. -

Is a weld in cage legal in NSW Dirtgarage? -
Sorry Neil, it was meant to be short and simple but some how it became a medical blurb Your GP won't be able to send you for an MRI unless he has some good connection, only specialist can refer for MRI scan. The guideline will dictate that XR is the first line of investigation in your case and then if xr shows cervical spondylosis then MRI scan. That is because these guideline predate the abundance of MRI machines. Nowaday, MRI machines are everywhere and often with empty lists. So you can get them if your GP has the right connection. The evidence in the literature is that 70+% of people over 40 will have cervical spondylosis in XR, so 70% of people will waste their time and money with the XR. XR is around $100 and MRI scan can be done for $170-800+ (if you know where to go). You can not and should not get a cortisone infiltration (neck) until you have a MRI scan. The infiltration is "CAT machine assisted"...ie performed by a radiologist with the help of a CAT machine. You will get more benefit from an experienced radiologist. It's all good mate. I know where you are coming from. I can't say I treat this daily but I see this 5 days per week I never treat any of them, I only assist them in making the right decision for their medical issue. I am in QLD so I can't offer any help with your issue Neil. I do hope that I am wrong and you are in the 90% of typical cases that do get better though. If you have any query, please feel free to shoot me a pm. Good luck Neil
