The Ultimate Exhaust Sound Level Thread
FrangaR33 replied to FrangaR33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
According to the ESMP (Engine Speed At Maximum Power) EPA Manual It specifies the EPA test for a: RB26DETT - 5100rpm RB25DET - 4800rpm Yeah I know about the 92db limit in Japan, its just a pity we dont have any manufacturers (that I know of) making EPA compliant after market exhausts here, especially considering the fact a stock exhaust wont pass. They would make an absolute killing. -

So basically the only conclusion one can draw from this is, Nissan, Japanese Performance part manufacturers = FAIL. Racepace = Awesome. -
I'm eager to find out how you go with your case. I look forward to the new thread to see how it goes. Good Luck mate.

The Ultimate Exhaust Sound Level Thread

I was looking for a EPA friendly (less than 90db exhaust for the R33 GTR) but it appears they dont exist....even stock. So it looks like the custom route is the only way. Has anyone ever found a way to pass EPA with a custom made exhaust and if so what sort of set up. R33, Stock, ~$2k To Spend.
FrangaR33 replied to HtwCHACtkh's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yeah thats the interior retrim I was thinking of, I've seen them do some great things on Commodores and Statesmans for not too much money. I'm thinking of getting it done to my VP wagon, fix up the inside real nice, worked V8, outside looking like a tired old commo, ultimate sleeper. -
Man your huge Terry, Oh wait......grams I see what you did there

LOL I tried with that Dynolicous I got 4hp. It will be interesting to see if there are any other reliable pocket dyno apps.

Dyno Master for android. Not sure how accurate it is but its worth a crack.

Imo the next step should be getting a good quality catback exhaust, will up the boost a few psi and give you a bit more power across the rev range. Definetly replace your Pod with a panel filter after you've reinstalled the airbox to avoid a defect or a trip to the EPA. If your mainly concerned about the interior and dont want it to ricey, retrimming the interior is always an options I've heard good things about those retrim kits on ebay that fit over the your current seats after the current seat material has been removed, it can be done at home or by them for a price. -
I completely agree with you about the cheering when these f**kers die. I have spoken to friends who are cops and they reckon theres so much paperwork, red tape and hand holding going on, their hands are tied when they want to catch real criminals. Dare I start sounding like a broken record but the Government has no trouble taking away our rights to a trial with a jury of our peers and innocent until proven guilty as long as its a motoring related offence. But when were talking about hardened criminals its a completely different story. My brother got off with community service for an armed robbery, The guy before in the court got off with community service for assault with a deadly weapon and armed robbery. Its totally f**ked up, even when the cops do their jobs absolutely perfectly, these judges hear these hard luck cases and throw them back on the street to reoffend. I admire the patience of people in law enforcement seeing violent crimals they fought so hard to catch just walk free, I couldnt do that for a living and i'm sure many of us couldnt. (no wonder cops are in such a shitty mood sometimes) In some places i'm beginning to think a fire arm is necessary to defend ones self, especially considering most people who get attacked these days are attacked by groups of people as opposed to a single person. And Matt well played going the non violent road, its always better to walk away to fight another day when the odds are stacked against you.

V8 Conversion For R32 Gtst

+1 For the LS1, LS2. They can be found for 5k or less with the gearbox in wrecks all day long generally with less than 150,000k's on the clock. They go like crazy and will take a hell of a lot of punishment. I saw a LS1 crank out 400hp at the rears with only injectors, tune and induction done, end result 2 snapped tail shafts. But bang for buck and in terms of reliability you cant be the LS series motors. LS series motors are also used in light aircraft kits and in a great deal of kit cars and smaller scale production automotive manufacturers. -
Import = Dangerous Street Racer
FrangaR33 replied to spranga's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Most street racers i've ever encountered have been in Commodores, Falcons or WRX's. All of which are Australian delivered or built cars. If you actually do the math import drivers dont make up such a large number of the cars impounded under the hoon laws, the vast majority are Commodores. I just find it amusing that my dad who is 1 year away from the old age pension has his car V8 Commodore with the loudest exhaust known to man (He's nearly completely deaf in one ear from a work related accident), but he never gets pulled over by the coppers even though he's always street racing "those young guys in their SS's and XR8's" -
Have you considered modern muscle cars, if your just looking for straight line performance and cruise potential. The newer Mustangs may be in your price range. 65-90k depending on spec. Links to Mustang Pics Even a current model Corvette can be had for 90k with the 7.0L LS7 V8

Welcome to SAU. Brilliant looking car. Normally I think body kits look generally shit, but in this case its a big exception it looks great especially with that great paintwork and good clean simple rims.

+1 to buying games online, I bought my COD MW2 for the PS3 online for $60 on Play asia, its tops if you've got a PS3 because games are region free.

They work a treat my kill death ratio thanks you Another one I worked out is MP5 akimbo, Marathon Pro, Stopping Power, Steady Aim. Once you know where they are start firing just before you come around the corner, the bullets are already heading right for them by the time they react

I completely agree with you Alan. I reckon having a SAU sticker on the back of your car should be a privledge that shows you are responsible member of an enthusaist car club not a dickhead looking to show off. These idiots should be named and shamed and kicked out your 100% right. The local paper in my area is currently naming and shaming all drink drivers in the area with all there names and some photos being published on an entire page, its great it really teaches these idiots a lesson that you cant just sweep it under the rug and every one will know what an idiot you really are. -

Because I actually know a bit about turbo cars, I always had my brothers mates asking me about BOVs on there Falcons by drilling holes in the exhaust and shit, absolute idiots. Did you ask the seller if he could include some speed holes I hear they make the car go faster too -
WTF man that is f**king crazy. Did you get there plates? I have no idea what motivates people to do this sort of shit why cant they just go home and play burnout if they want to drive around like f**k wits.
