I have finally got my car back. It took a while, but it looks really good. I'm pretty happy with the job. The new exhaust looks and sounds really good too. Thanks for sending me there guys. Even though it took a while, I'd rather have someone working on the car that knows something about the car. The only downside is that when they were buffing the car, they pulled off the "GTST" sticker, but it doesn't look too bad without it. I haven't stopped driving the car since i got it back. Am even trying to figure out how i can ditch work so that i can get back to the car.
  2. I totally agree that the Bracks government is messed up. They need more money, so the up the fines. Not really a fair way to do things at all. But I'm sure that they will pay for it at the next election. I've seen the way that they justify these reductions in speed around schools. It is shocking. Realistically, there are no crashes around schools. This whole reduction thing is just to make the government look good, and get the votes from the parents. If you ask me, there are so many better things that $23 Million could be spent on.
  3. There are going to be 16 of these 'shopping strips' speed reductions around the state. Some have already gone in such as Clayton Rd. As for the yellow light cameras, they are constantly on. If you speed through the intersection at any time, they will get you. So you can get 2 tickets at once. I think that there are 110 of these around the state, but when you think of the number of intersections in the state, it is only a small number. As for speed reductions, get ready for lower speeds around schools. The speed will be reduced to 40km/h on most roads around schools. Depending on the road, it may be permanent, or a time based system. I guess the government is just pushing for lower speeds all round.
  4. The lower speed limits haven't come into effect yet. They are going to be put in around Christmas. The speed will range from 50-80 depending on how fast you should be going around the corners in certain areas. I had a look at the plans last week. The section between Lorne and Apollo Bay will be they slowest, as it is the tightest.

That is true. I park the car that I'm driving now where ever i like, and don't think twice. Go over speed humps at 80km/h and not care. Don't have to worry about steep driveways either. But still, i wouldn't trade all that for my skyline. It is fun teaching those V8's a lesson.

The exhaust was...um...damaged in the crash so he said for the same cost of replacing the original one, he could put on one that i wanted. Although, depending on the final cost of it, i might have to put in a little bit extra, which i think is fair enough. I am getting a better system than before for basically nothing. We shall say that it is for all the problems that the guy who hit me has caused

hehehe. I'm getting a bigger exhaust put on as well so there will be a bit more power to play with. So that will add to my fun. I drove my gf's car the other day that is a manual and didn't put the clutch in when i started it as i thought that i was in an auto. She wasn't too happy when i almost bounced into the car parked in front of me. Better not do that to the skyline.

Cool. I was going to ask you if you've been down there lately and if you've seen my car, but now you've answered all that. It is going to be so weird getting back in the Skyline. I've been driving an auto for the past 6 weeks (that has no power), so a manual is going to be weird again. Looking forward to the power too. I'm going to go through so much petrol the first few days that i get it back.

Thanks for that Inark. Makes me feel a whole lot better. I've been a bit worried as i haven't had a chance to get down there and see what has been going on. I think that I'm just getting sick of driving my mothers seca around. I so want me car back.

Ok. so getting sick of waiting for my car. It has almost been 4 weeks for a 2 week job. I know that the insurance company slowed them down a little when they had to get something else assessed, but this is not funny anymore. I've sort of gone easy on them as they are replacing the exhaust with a bigger one for me, and touching up a few areas, but maybe it is time to get on their backs a little. I've been told that I'll get my car back this Friday. I guess that i'll have to wait and see. I'm not holding my breath though.
  11. I wouldn't mind it too if you can send it to me. My address is [email protected] Thanks

    Upcomig Track Days

I'm sure that I'll have my car back by then, so I could be interested. Would love to take the car around a track.
  13. I'll come along if my car is out of the shop by then. The rate that it is going I will never get it back. Hope that it is a nice dry day. Not a fn of driving down there in the wet.
  14. There is a plug at the bottom of the steering wheel. If you disconnect this, the airbag won't go off. Just disconnecting the battery might not do it as airbags have compacitors in them which will hold the charge incase the battery is destroyed in an accident.

i gave the insurance company a call today and got them all sorted. It is so hard to be mean to some people when they are being so nice. They originally told me that i had to get 2 quotes for them, then when i call them today, that said that i only needed the one, and one from Palm would have been enough. If they had of told me this 2 weeks ago, it would have all been fixed now. I'm sure that if we spoke to the guys at Palm, they might do something for us. There is enough of our cars there already.

I dropped down last night to see what was going on and was amazed at what he showed me. Not only is the rear panel destroyed, the actual floor of the boot is all warped. I didn't think that the damage was that bad. When i say warped, i really mean it. Con told me that you guys had been down and seen the car. Also told me that Just Cars are being rather difficult for him, so I'm going to have to give them a call today and sort them out. I'm really missing my car. The exhaust is also pretty messed up, so I'm going to get that replaced with a bigger system. I was going to do it anyway, and now it will cost me less. Whistla, what sort of spoiler are you going to be putting on your car?
  17. I'm after the A pillar cover.

It is hard to say how damaged it is. It looks like it has popped out the sides a little, but really not a huge amount. The bumper is totally stuffed, the lights are now away from the panel, and the back panel has been pushed in a bit. I guess that you could do the dodgy and just repair the bumper and the rear panel without fixing the rest. I guess that I'll just have to assume that they will do a good job, and if not, i'll worry about it then. Not the best way to go, but with the lack of knowledge that i have, what more can i do. I'm sure that they won't try and screw me over.

I'm with just cars at the moment. But the place that they are sending me to just sounds like your average local body shop. So i will have to us the genuine new parts deal. Palm told me that the both back quarters and the roof would need respraying. I hope that others think the same.

I might have to steal my mothers car so that i can get around, but that is a dodgy seca. That thing is way too slow for me. I just called the insurance company and they want me to take it to one of their approved repairers to get a quote from. I just hope that it is high so that i can take it back to Palms and get them to look after it. I don't want someone who knows nothing about skylines to look after it. I might have to shock him with some info about how hard they are to fix. Any ideas?

I dropped into that Palms place on Saturday morning. He said that it is going to take a bit of work to get it all fixed. Said that it should cost about $4000, and he'll need my car for about 2 weeks. But he did really sound like he knows what he is doing, so i figure that i will go back there. I'm just going to go through my insurance company and let them chase him for the money. I'm now wondering what I'm going to do for 2 weeks without my line. I don't think that I'll be able to handle it.
  22. The damage is not all that bad. The bumper is all pushed in and the boot lid now sticks out a bit, but he is going to pay for it, so i don't mind. Just means that I'll be without my car for a bit while it gets fixed

That depends when your heading down there, can't get down there at the moment as I'm still at work. But, i think that i might just have to leave early. My car is more important than my job, although, the job does allow me do play with the car.

It can't hurt to go and see them. I'm almost willing to spend most of the day getting quotes, just as long as i get a good job. If anyone else knows of others, throw them in. I'll go and see them too. Thanks for all those that have given me some help so far.

I'll have to give these guys a call. As you said, I'm not paying for it, so I'm happy to go to someone who might cost a bit more, but will do it right the first time. I will just have to make sure that i get a few other quotes around their price. I agree with what your saying regarding not going to a place he might suggest. For all i know, it could be one of his mates doing the dodgy for him. He is in the wrong, so he will do as i want. I don't want to screw this guy over, but I'm not going to get screwed in the process of being decent.
