Carbonfiber trunk lid ftw?

I just like how the Veyron doesn't have a tachometer, it has a horsepower gauge instead. 0-1001hp. weeeeeee.

That doesn't look like an intercooler to me. Theres one on the other side too. I'm on 56k so I didn't watch the video, but I'm guessing this is the motor out of the Bugatti Veyron?

Which Car Would Win In A 1/4 Race?
Rabid replied to habibskyline's topic in General Automotive Discussion
The E36 M3 wasn't very fast. 6.0sec 0-60mph and 14.6sec 1/4 mile time. Wasn't until the next generation that the M3 became a rocket. I have no idea what the SS runs in the 1/4, but I have driven the E36 M3 and its nothing to write home about. Only a shade faster than the Viggen and cost $10k more, but thats a different argument entirely. Anyways, look up the 1/4 mile numbers on the Commodore and if its faster than 14.6sec it will beat the M3. Side note - The M3 would whoop the Commodores ass around a proper track though. -
Rhys Millen has won 2 Formula D championships in a GTO. Sam Hubinette won another in a Viper. So it seems that we hold up pretty well against the D1 drivers/cars. Even though Rhys is from NZ and Sam is from Sweden, they are still listed as American drivers, since I think both currently live in the US. Tanner Foust (another American driver) is in the points lead this year, but last I knew he was driving a 240sx (180sx) or a 350Z. I'm not really a big fan of anything bigger than a 4 banger, but I cant deny the v8's and v10's are doing well here. Since theres plenty of v8's to chose from in Australia, maybe you guys will follow suit. The big problem that the American drift circuit had when it first started was that a lot of the cars trying to compete looked like garbage. When your trying to promote a new motorsport, you don't want people coming to see a bunch of derby cars drifting the track, you want them to see something nice. I personally would enjoy the sport either way, but the majority of people out there wanna see nice cars driving around the track, not shitters. One of the things that really helped move the sport along was that a few drivers got factory sponsorships. Also the Formula Drift competitors wear full leathers and full face helmets. I know thats been one of the big complaints about Drift Australia. I guess its just a bit more polished here, even though its only been around for 4 years now. Yeh, they call him Bubba Drift (real name is Mike Peters). He's hella popular. It's a 450hp+ v8 automatic El Camino. Very fun to watch.

There are tons of judged sports out there that are highly popular. I'm sure you have all heard of the X-Games. Skateboarding, Snowboarding, Skiing, Dirt Bike stunts etc. In Formula D (US drift) there are plenty of V8's and bigger. In fact, I don't think a Japanese car has won a championship yet. We have GTO's, Vipers, Mustangs, even an old El Camino. It makes for a lot more competition. Some of the top Japanese drivers are also joining in the mix now as well.

Put the money towards a down payment on an M5 . Just make sure he lets you drive it .

I just test drove one that was a year old. Had 30k miles and still drove/looked/smelled new. Considering trading in my parents car for it. The Mazda3 is just the newer version of the Protoge. This one would be 3 years newer, 10k miles less, and only $1500 difference after trade. Hard to go wrong on that. Also as long as you don't wanna load up on options like SATNAV and stuff, they start at a little under $17000usd here. Best of luck to ya anyways.

If your gonna go up a size (the Corolla is up a size), you should look at the Mazda3. Specially the hatchback. Will for sure have plenty of room.

Cars You Want, But Your Country Wont Import.
Rabid replied to Rabid's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Yeh, I have some Aussie friends who post here, and are always linking me to these forums, so I figured if I was gonna read all the posts anyways I might as well reply. This is the "General Automotive Discussion" forum is it not? I'd also like to add the Toyota Chaser to my list. -
Theres so many great cars the US doesn't even get. Half the time we don't even always get the good versions of AMERICAN cars. It's even worse with imports. When they finally do bring a good car over here, they dumb it down and change its styling to the point that it looks nothing like the car it was supposed to be. Then when no one buys it the manufacturers are like "see, we told you there was no market for that car here". For every great car we don't get, someone builds an SUV. Anyways these are a few of the cars I would love to see in the US. Not all of them are new. Nissan Skyline Nissan Silvia Nissan Cefiro (first gen, we got it when it became the Maxima) Honda Civic Type R Vauxhall Astra VXR Ford Focus ST (euro) Ford Mondeo (euro) Ford Fiesta ST (euro) Alfa Romea 147 GTA I mean, thats just a few cars. Theres prolly 50 more that I would kill for. Like the early generation Evo's and STi's, or the AWD Celica's. I'm also curious to see what cars you guys would like to import if it was possible.

I'd go for the Mazda2. It's a pretty nice looking car, has a great interior, gets 55mpg. And... it's a Mazda, which means it will have superior build quality and excellent reliability for years to come. They are the best Japanese car manufacturer out there right now in my opinion. Also in recent 5 year tests, Mazda was rated the most reliable car company. My parents own a Protoge5 that is almost perfect for a daily car. It's a little underpowered, but it handles very nicely, can seat 5 (4 very comfortably), gets 40mpg highway and hasn't needed anything except for oil changes and tyres/brakes. Can also put the dog in the back with no trouble (and he's a 100lb Bernese Mountain Dog), or load it up with groceries, tools, or whatever else. Unfortunately we don't have the Mazda2 here yet so I can't comment on that specific car from experience. I didn't like the Yaris though, not even a little bit. I have a few friends who also own Mazda products though and all of them are very happy with their cars.

Someone with 20's and a retarded custom plate crashed their car? How can this be possible? Think you would be happy theres one less ghetto skyline on the road. Hopefully the dudes ok though. Someone should recommend he pimps a Yugo next time. They don't go fast enough to crash.
-
If it has a motor, they have probably tried it on Pikes Peak.
-
Someone punch that dude in the ovaries.
-
Definitely looks nice and clean. Getting a new car always rocks, especially if its one you've wanted for a while. Someone look up the definition of 'Rice Boy' for me.
-
I have family in England, and I get to see their cars on a fairly regular basis. Always shed a single tear before I come home to SUV's and Trucks.

Theres some fast as f**k 4cyl cars out there. Also some dog ass slow 6cyl ones. I don't think thats a good idea. In the US there is no limitation on what kind of car you can own, no matter what your age is. I live way out in the boonies, but the majority of accidents here are caused by drunk drivers (which is FAR worse than what this kid did). Most of the kids around here drive shitters, or Neon's (still a shitter). I see more accidents from college age kids, than from new drivers.
-
We get the GTi and the R32, but none of those others. I would kill for a euro Focus ST.
-
FWD (or AWD) is almost a necessity where I live. We get snow 5 months a year here and RWD is balls in the snow. The problem with powerful front drive cars is torque steer. Mazda pretty much eliminated all torque steer in their Mazdaspeed 3 though. Front drive can also handle and brake just as well as RWD, but in order to do so, it eats up tyres. I'm very curious to see a TRD Corolla, especially since the Celica GT-S is gone. The US is at a huge loss in the powerful hatchback market.

http://www.circuit-days.co.uk/cannon.php?page_id=15 The United States does one called the Gumball 3000. It's a drive from NY to LA. Just curious if Australia does anything similar.

Why Are Automatic Brake Pedals So Large?
Rabid replied to Rabid's topic in General Automotive Discussion
amen to that. -
While driving on I-90 the other day, I was passed by a Pontiac Grand AM with no less than 5 stickers on the back of it saying "Grand AM". I took a picture.

Twin Turbo Straight Six Cylinder Engine
Rabid replied to Forged's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Check out the torque spread for the Saab Viggen. I'll post it if I find it before you do. But yes, the BMW is amazing and they are an amazing car manufacturer. -
It definitely wouldn't surprise me much, especially with the fact they are no longer making the Celica (at least in the US they aren't). I would definitely be interested to see how it looks. Do you have any pictures?
