  1. I just thought I might plug my website after I did a really big update for 2008 including the D1SL and MSC dates http://www.d1gp.co.jp/topix/08/08_sch/D1_SCHE_HP.html http://www.d1gp.co.jp/d1_divisional_08_top.html http://www.motorsportscom.info/drift/schedule/ http://www.dr1ft.jp-a.googlepages.com/dr1ft.jp%3A%3Aevents Access maps and info are in the works, the questions I got from the SAU TAS thread were useful in working out what people needed to know. Hopefully I can make another site that is for other events as I know not everyone wants to see drifting.
  2. The total train travel time including the Shinkansen...Oh and I thought you were goint to Fuji today so the times I said yesterday were for today. The 16th is gymkhana and drift. So it won't be that great compared to Tsukuba. But at least you can look at the mountain! I can't find any times for the event
  3. LOL, I think I should have just come along, I am missing out on all the fun!Well if you are up for some Shinkansen action it will take about two hours to get there ¥4,330 for VIP 300km/h stylez (112mins) Tokyo Kodama -> Odawara :: Kodama shinkansen Odawara -> Shin-Matsuda/Matsuda :: Odakyu Line Shin-Matsuda/Matsuda -> Gotemba :: Gotemba Line ¥1,890 for povo-spec JR (136mins) Tokyo -> Kozu(Kanagawa) :: Tokaido Line(JR East) Kozu(Kanagawa) -> Gotemba :: Gotemba Line From Gotemba Station ¥4,220 to Mr Taxi guy
  4. No beer required... my reward is that justice has been done... ...hmmmm, maybe just one beer
  5. Big circuit 9:10-2:40Small circuit 9:30-4:25 (drifting is from 3:00-4:25) http://www.fsw.tv/guide/pdf/circuit_guide.pdf You would be better sending Blitz a PM... unfortunately I don't really know anything about street stuff in Tokyo
  6. When I talked to my local Nissan dealer he said it would be a three month wait to get one, then it would need to be "used" for 12 months... So 15 months minimum. One possible hurry up would be to buy and register the display stock (which is not for sale) and let the dealer keep it until it was released for sale, then you would get a shorter wait, a couple of months free parking and temptation would be locked safely away in a showroom.
  7. http://sph.egoiste.net/ It is the one in Saitama... The closest station is called Kodama http://www.jorudan.co.jp/english/norikae/e-norikeyin.html Easiest way there is from Ikebukuro on the Yamanote line take the Tobu-Tojo Line to Ogawamachi(Saitama) to Kodama. The station is 3.8km away.
  8. Aren't ya glad you didn't spend today in a big hall with a million other people looking at parked cars
  9. Wow, looked like a great night... unfortunately the police finish it before it starts down in Osaka Well the Toyota lesson for today is that that is a JZX110 Mark II, but there are so many different versions of those cars, but that is not important, what is important is that guy got 4th at MSC in Expert class so he is pretty damn good. I hope you got to see him in action before the car broke. You have got me jealous now
  10. Using this website http://www.jorudan.co.jp/english/norikae/e-norikeyin.html One-way fare:1,810 yen Distance:69.9 km 09:51am Shinagawa -> Akihabara 160yen [Yamanote Line] 10:15am Akihabara ->Moriya 800yen [Tsukuba Express] 10:54am Moriya -> Sodo 850yen [Kantetsu-Joso Line] 10:54am 11:30am arrival
  11. I hope it is good!!! I have just found out some very usefull info that I didn't know before... http://www.tkclub.jp/schedule.htm The event at Tsukuba is from 1pm to 4pm
  12. If anyone wants to see the video I made for TAS then it will be playing in the Stagea at the Looking booth. I hope everyone likes country music!!! This is all I have unfortunately

    Japan In March!

Why couldn't you help the thread starter with some non-car related things then? Read his post again and you will see that he never mentions cars at all... Why is it a good time to come to Japan in your opinion?... share the wealth edit: Something like this maybe http://www.japanvisitor.com/index.php?cID=366&pID=396 edit2: p.s. I live in Japan so feel free to come down to Osaka for a beer any time

    Japan In March!

Errr why are you here? By here I mean SAU. All you seem to do is tell us how uninterested you are in Skylines or that you are drunk or going snowboarding... it is very lame. There should be a lot of events on. Both car and non-car... I just don't know what they are yet
  15. LOL, I forgot what Aussies were like, maybe I have been in Japan too long but I don't really think of rice and performance and mutually exclusive, in fact here they seem to almost always go together. Have a look at Uras's signature pic for an example

    Japan Trip 08!

I have never been to TAS, but I have been to Osaka Automesse and you can see that in a day, but you are tired after it. It sort of depends, seeing cool cars sitting on carpet is all well and good but to be honest I would rather see them driving around. Even if it is the 2007 car and not the latest 2008 special with the latest V-Max Ultra Spec-R BOV. It may be the case that the D1 drivers and cars are all stuck in the TAS halls, so it could be a bunch of learners plodding around at Tsukuba, but it is a risk I would take. My suggestion would be to go to TAS the day before, see how far you get through it and then sleep on it and decide in the morning which you would like to go to. Either way you win.
  17. Well Autobacs is like a well stocked autObarn and Crystal is ricer paradise, dildo gearknobs from wall to wall I hear... http://www.c-jpn.com/shopguide/index.htm http://local.google.co.jp/maps?f=q&hl=...&iwloc=addr The closest train station is called Sports-Center on the Chibatoshi-Monorail

    Japan Trip 08!

It depends, definitely maybe.Honju is this place http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y49ei4oU3iQ Mobara is this one 19th? No, it isn't, it is just cone dodging on gymkhana course... I noticed that you have listed the 13th as TAS. This is a big mistake in my opinion. There are 60 people drifting and 25 people doing drift on the full circuit... it one of the only drift events on the full circuit and at the same time as TAS. I would reasonably assume that everybody who is interested in drifting near tokyo will be there. I would be very surprised if you didn't see some D1 cars there. If there is any event you intend to go to, then this is the one. I could of course be totally wrong Fuji on the 16th is drifting in the carpark circuit --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avN4H-vpveU Nikko on the 17th is drift practice with a rock, paper, scissors competition --> All the events could be great or could be boring... there is always a bit of luck involved.
  19. The one they recomment is Sodo station (the leftmost one in the map) which is on the Kantetsu-Joso Line and about 6km away. Also you may notice that the map is not "North Up" which is VERY common in Japan. Sometimes the map is the way you are looking, sometimes the map is North Up and sometimes the map is just random like the Tsukuba one. tsukuba_map.pdf
  20. Nikko - Utsunomiya Station The from the station you will need to take a taxi 17km which will cost ¥4,900 (one way) I have attached a map which will help the taxi driver so please try to print that out, you may want to arrange for the taxi driver to meet you at the end of the day.

    Japan Trip 08!

Yes... LOL... anyway if there is anything else you would like to see I can do some investigating These site has a lot of events http://www.soukoukai.com/ http://www.windsnet.ne.jp/car/ Not just drifting... as while it is the current thing, I know people are interested in other things.
  22. While it may have moved the weight to a better place I wonder how much extra weight the new gearbox and the massive "nose shaft" add. 20x9.5 and 20x10.5 wheels and massive tyres can't be light no matter what they are made out of, the brakes, everything. The car really is a monster in every sense of the word.
  23. Just for planning any sort of train travel one website is absolute gold to work out routes, costs and times. http://www.jorudan.co.jp/english/norikae/e-norikeyin.html The signs at Train stations are usually in both English and Japanese.

    Japan Trip 08!

Heheh well give the name of my website is dr1ft.jp you can probably guess what all of those events are. But to give you a hint, there is drifting, some are drift comps, there is some drift practice and some of them are drifting, also some drifting events and a I think one or two of them are drifting... oh yeah and one of them is 100% definitely drift. One day I might make gr1p.jp for people that prefer that sort of thing. It just means buying some other magazines, but that costs money and all that jazz.

    Japan Trip 08!

Well obviously I think you should check out some drifting, there is a suprising amount on when you are there. http://www.dr1ft.jp-a.googlepages.com/dr1ft.jp%3A%3Aevents Thursday, January 3 Ebisu Maze DEC Fuji Nikko Friday, January 4 Setonai Fuji Nikko Saturday, January 5 Maze Nikko Sunday, January 6 Mobara Fuji Honjyo Nikko Wednesday, January 9 Autopolis Thursday, January 10 Mobara Friday, January 11 Maze Saturday, January 12 Motorland SP I thought Goryokaku in Hakodate (South Hokkaido) was good. Also the olympic ski jump in Sapporo was pretty cool. The Sapporo beer factory was very very good... until the next morning.
