Homebuilt Rb28 Gtr33
Weapon replied to 33GTRV's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
I have just put a ball bearing Precision 6262 on my car and have not regretted it one bit. Strong low down response and torque on a bog stock 2.6 so a built 2.8 would be rediculous. You should go the slightly bigger 6265 i think it is to get the mid 400's -

Coming along nicely, Should be a great streeter when completed -
Agreed! this should be a good project. What sort of engine mods are you planning on? Or just getting a stock 25 in there and running before the performance bits?

Who Has A Surge Tank On Their Stagea
Weapon replied to GTR260's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I didn't see the point in changing my set up. I left the lift pump (in tank) as the stock GTR pump. These can be picked up for cheap to 2 litre custom surge tank that cost me less than $100 to get made Single 044 that I picked up for 190 Various fittings and lines totaled just over $150. Basically I never wanted any surge to happen on say a hard launch or on a track etc etc. Its good peace of mind for me as it removes one weak link out of my cars chain. I'd go the external set up any day -
Haha well yes if this car had Corona on board as a sponsor it may have been a 9 second GTR by now lol Fingers crossed I don't have to replace another gearbox within the next few months atleast lol

Tracking Down Original Owner Of Silvia In Japan

You know its bad when a vagina on wheels rolls past you -
Well finally some updates and pics for you guys. After purchasing a rather nice manifold and Precision Billet Series off a top bloke on this forum (Pete) and also some Bride seats off another member (Blitz) I had some goodies to play with on the car at long last. First issue as you can see with the manifold, the first are for concern was thefront wastegate pipe. As you can see the pipe landed smack bang on the engine mount This was easily removed and then we were hoping for smooth sailing..... However the next issue was cylinder 3 and 4 runners..... The only thing left to do was this...... As you can see the runners now have an alternate route compared to before. They now go over the top rather than under and back into the collector. Next issue was trying to squeeze the new 60mm gate in somewhere we ran it with 40NB stainless steampipe to aid a little more flow for the big sucka and then a flare out to waste gate seat The car is now only waiting for the new gasket to show up for the dump pipe and it can all be thrown on and started. This is how it sits as of tonight Due to the location of the manifold etc it was pretty much a forgone conclusion that the comp housing be T88 mounted... on this size turbo it looks a little strange but its growing on me More pics to come tomorrow for you guys

Turbo Lag, A Thing Of The Past?
Weapon replied to Silvia GTR's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Lag is like foreplay.... There aint anything wrong with a little bit but to much teasing and it gets just as boring lol -
Getting there slowly thats for sure lol. Manifold has been modded and fits good now with the big 60mm gate dropped in a good location. Runners 3 and 4 had to be re routed and also waste gate completely changed around to suit new gate. The only thing holding this thing up from final assembly is one stupid V Band clamp to affix the gate to manifold and the awesome thing about Townsville is that shock horror no one has anything to suit... The search continues

That picture = WIN!

well finally some progress with some collected parts. Also some very average quality pics for now until I get some more over the weekend when the new kit should all be mounted up and turn key The manifold that came with the turbine was definitely a bit more of an issue than originally planned but will work very nicely. The biggest issue is the location of the new gate but all should roll through nicely now that its been sorted.

Haha reading this entire thread was worth it just to see that last post by Marko R1 haha I own a GTR (33) yes probably the softest GTR model and all things considered it has its great aspects and bloody horrible ones like any other car. Lets just all admit to wanting an original 1969 KPGC10 GTR Every one is forgetting What Brian Spilner finally realised in the fifth movie... If you going to have a shot at taking down this guy..... You would need one of these.....

I'm with you on that one snozzle.... 6k is just bulls**t Cheap! -
Agreed I have some Deka 750's in my stock rail and they have been just fine. .82 rear housing 3076R's that are internally gated on 3 cars I have now seen have been real let downs as far as ramping on boost hard and fast plus they just don't seem to perform in terms of returning good kw figures. Have seen some issues with boost spikes (not huge ones) however have seen an externall gated 3076 running a tial 44 that was still stuck on the stock manifold and it was an absolute animal of a car... Just my two sence. If it was me I'd go an external gate option (plumbed in or screamer) doesn't really phase me but they just seem to work a lot more efficiently and get up an go quicker
-
Hi Guys, I have a spare rear housing available for purchase that I received as part of a kit that I recently purchased. I opted to keep the 0.83 housing on and sell on this one as its just a paper weight on my desk atm haha As stated its suitable for the new Billet Series Precision turbo's the one mine is for is a 6262SP Has been HPC coated black and comes with housing bolts, would be suitable for someone that is looking for a little better response out of their set up without having to wait a few weeks to obtain one from the States. From memory these are around the $500-600 mark new plus the coating. Chasing $350 delivered anywhere in Aus. Item located in Townsville North Queensland and is ready to ship immediately. As I am on a work computer I am unable to up load a pic of the housing so please feel free to shoot me a txt on 0438840407 and I will happilly forward required pics. Cheers Marty
