S15 Wide Body Build
Weapon replied to Veilwest's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
I am using the ViPec Plug in which is almost identical to the V44 for features however i like the fact that you pull your standard ecu board out of the casing and the ViPec unit slides right in. totally un assunimg I used to run a power fc however unless you go for the Pro version it uses a fuel cut style rev limiter... i wasn't a fan of that plus my tuner was making a fortune out of guys with crazy GTR and Skyline builds by removing the power fc's and either using the Plug in, V44 or V88 as a replacement... With very noticible gains in the quality of the tune and also power and torque. I haven't regretted going ViPec and if your tuner is using them with great results you won't be disapointed either -
Thinking This May Be A "super Hicas" Issue
Weapon replied to Weapon's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yea i was thinking it was that, i have been sussing out the kit that replaces the whole rack and tie rod ends etc its about $100 more than just a normal lock bar so i think thats worth it. Its been in two suspnsion joints here in Townsville and they say nah mate she is all good lol so i don't really like taking it to "professionals"if i can avoid it -
Chasing an extremely annoying issue with my Series 3 R33 GTR. The car has done thise for a while now to be honest but is starting to get a little worse now. At speeds exceeding 80kp/h it starts to "shimmy" from time to time like the HICAS is making sterring inputs. Its really bad with more tyre wear and also on less than an 1/8th tank of fuel. I am toying with the idea of getting a HICAS lock bar with the replacement tie rod ends etc but just wanted to get some opinions before i make a move on anything really. I haven't been able to sight anything visually that is wrong with the bushes or mounts etc that would cause anything to "shift" Any thoughts or ideas woould be greaty appreciated. Cheers Marty

Hey man looks real good. Nice turbo choice to. The engine bay looks mint and will look even better with new plenum. Keeping an eye on this one for sure

34's would be in the same boat as 33's. i have 265/35/18 all round on 18x10.5 +12 SSR SP1R's and no issues with clearance or scrubbing

Haha most likely mid to late January I will pull the motor so I'll shoot you a txt when it happens It's a very streetable package atm but I do want to further develop it to a higher tune. Just the the thought of it is puting a smile on my face

That's all good, as I said I know I want to go bigger turbo wise but exactly what I end up with depends on what's available at the time I want to buy. The engine will be dealt with as priority and then the supporting factors for that engine will start coming into play. I am not trying to build a world beater just something I want to build. I am still unsure as to where I will get the work carried out but it will most likely end up getting it done in Brisbane. There's two mobs there have caught my interests in the form of Godzilla motorsports and GT Auto garage. However I am only as far as building up the parts basket at the moment so will cross that bridge when I get to it.

I still haven't decided which route, it will be between a to4z being the starting point and t51r Kai being the absolute biggest. I do know for sure that the 3582 will be taken off. I am very interested to see end result and also get the motor out and started in the new year. I just want to oliminate any forms of rb and also GTR driveline weaknesses. If done right there is no reason why this won't be a reliable 400-470kw car. I do intend to take this around the local tracks etc however more for fun than anything else. I don't mind how long it takes to get done aslong as it's done to the specs that I want it done to. There are areas of the car that I haven't discussed that will definitely be in need of attention with the above mentioned power

That's ok phil. I always expected these comments. To be completely honest I was getting a little sick of it however I came to my senses thank god and kept it. I don't take HPI as gospel nor is this motor going to cost me 50k By doing spittle re search it didn't mean reading HPI but thank you for your input Phil. I do take it on board and it still doesn't sway my decision as to my parts choice. I have no doubt that there are people out there that share the same opinion as you however I am more willing to listen to people that have had the various set ups/combo's and tested or tuned these. Not to worry phil its not your so you don't need to live with driving it, I do and I really can't wait

I didn't just pick a massive set up for the hell of it. A dyno/drag queen to me is a 26 with GT47 on it. That's stupid and useless in my view. The 5 speed is ok except the ratios aren't quite to my liking aswell as the strength factor. Also I have not broken a gearbox... I wasn't driving when 3rd went bye bye. My reasoning behind an aftermarket 6 speed is one for better ratios and also because I don't want to mess around with it again. This box is ok but like most standard things will have a used by date with anything over 400awkw. I don't mind the fact that this thing won't be steaming along until around 4-4500rpm. However the head will allow it to be revved as high as 9500rpm if it pleases me. Also as a side note the current set up is quicker onto boost than the standard junk. Don't knock something until you have tried it phil. I don't mind copping people's negative comments, there is always going to be that. End of the day is it's what I want my GTR to be if it pleases other people or not, it will be what I vision down to each detail of the build.

Don't really care much for drag. Turbine choice is will be bigger than what is on there, however I am primarily looking at T51R Kai or TO4Z as a starting point. I will not go bigger than the Kai for obvious reasons as it will remain a street car. There will also be no more 5 speed box behind the engine anymore either. It will be once done an incredibly quick street car that at the end of the day I will be happy with and it's what I want. I am not interested in dyno comps or drags but it will eventually get taken down to most likely Brisbane to turn laps around QR. I only need to shake my head at the people that thought this turbo was to laggy... If I wanted boost off idle I would have bought an naturally aspirated car, can't get more responsive than that lol

Always thinking negative Phil

Lolyea should get up and boogie. Turbo set up will be a waste of time on the new combo so something a little bigger will make it's way in there

My Rear Seat Delete & Interior Modifications
Weapon replied to PM-R33's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Looks good dude, you will have to hear an external pump set up with no back seat and subsequent fuel smell haha. Was keen to do something similar to mine but will off the road for a while so it will get done eventually lol -
Lol it's all good there's a good chance my car won't see the light of day for around 12 months so you'll be safe for a while lol

S15 Wide Body Build
Weapon replied to Veilwest's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Please no, it might just be my taste but the exterior and wheels will make a massive presence and a simple colour will actually further drive it home. I am not sure what sort of colour but white carbon vinyl is a little auto salon for my liking IMO I reckon a nice darkish metallic silver or would look awesome, just me though -
Looking great dude, will keep an eye on this

I have it at work
