Building An Rb26 For Response....
JimmyRickard replied to Antimatter's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks for the post Duncan. As for as your list goes, there's a couple of things here I am curious about: Smaller turbo - I'm assuming -7's are the 'smallest' turbo one can buy, since ceramics go pop at the race track. Lighter turbo rotating mass - as above More capacity - It's going to have to make do for now Smaller Cams - smaller than factory? Free flowing exhaust - I have sidepipes, not sure about the manifold though Smaller intercooler - I'm assuming there's no use in going smaller than factory? Holding wastegate fully shut until it opens - I'm still using standard wastegate. Is there any reason to switch to something else? Cheers -

Thanks guys. What is the ultimate response setup on an RB26? -

What would you be expecting? We did ask for a reliable tune. When I decide to rebuild I will chasing HP but at this stage I want it to last as long as possible. -

Running ID2000's because I will eventually run e85, just ran out of funds to flexfuel setup. Everything else is ready to go though, twin 044's and surge tank etc. As for AFM's, I switched from a vipec to a haltech platinum pro, so it shouldn't be relying on AFM's as far as I know. -
Building An Rb26 For Response....
JimmyRickard replied to Antimatter's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I recently got my car tuned with 'response' in mind. I have -7's, ID2000's on pump 98 and stock internals, and this was the result: Does this graph represent a "responsive" engine? Certainly feels responsive, as in there is very little lag when going full tilt. Obviously it has a long way to go as far as HP is concerned, but would that response be sacrificed if boost pressure was increased? -
Has there been any advances in technology as far as twin turbo setups go? I replaced my busted ceramics with -7's years ago, has much changed since then?

R32/33 Gtr Or Evo 5/6/7 As A Track Car.
JimmyRickard replied to JETGTR's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
I've driven a number of evo's from 6 to 10 and own a 32 GTR track car. The evo is ready to track out of the box with relatively few mods required. The GTR is a much different story as mentioned above. However, I find the GTR to be a much more rewarding car to go fast in. But you really have to LOVE GTR's, because they will test your patience. In all honestly I don't think I could in good conscience recommend a GTR as a track car to anyone, but I love mine and wouldn't trade it for anything (except a Radical. They're f**kin awesome) -
Any thread in particular? A search doesn't uncover much

Pez have you tried recording the tracks yourself? You had it at the SMSP South track day, how'd it go? My only concern with the shared tracks is how old they are. Not sure if Eastern Creek is still the same layout

Anyone tried the BFGoodrich g-Force R1? http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+R1 It's not far off a full semi and they are pretty cheap. what do you guys think?

Beautiful car. Just curious about the front towhook, how did you mount it?

What sort of difference in performance are we talking between shimming and a 1.5way? What 1.5way would you recommend? What about a quaife in the rear? Don't have any issues with spending money on good shit, but I am still on a budget and if I can get away with cheaper options where the difference in performance is minimal that's the route I'll be taking. I was under the impression shimming a rear diff in a GTR was good enough, so I'm interested to hear the differences

Nah 4WD is still balls. Waiting on a digital g sensor from japan. Shimmed or 1.5way in the rear what do you guys reckon?

Hi guys, bought a set of Panasport G7 C5C's off Yahoo Japan through Import Monster. Managed to be a decent price, with the only caveat being no one could tell me how wide the rims are. They're off a 32 GTR so I'm not worried about off set or them being staggered, but I'm trying to source some tyres while I wait til they arrive, and I can't buy tyres until I know what size they are. Hence the thread. Form the photos below, can anyone here reliably guess what size they are? They have 245/40/18 tyres so they must be at least 9" right? Any chance they are 10'? Anyway check them out and let me know what you think.

Any particular reason why you would put in a quaife rather than 1.5 way? And where can I buy quaife diff from? What's the damage?

What did they charge you? Did anyone go to Wakefield last year? From the footage I watched the field was pretty barren

Bathurst 12 Hour Sbs Live
JimmyRickard replied to _MotorActive_'s topic in General Automotive Discussion
Nope they're f*cked. Hit a parked Ferrari at the top of the mountain at high speed. In other news, Van Gisbergen has huge balls.
