  1. Great news that you managed to back the 7 sec run up guys I have no idea how long or when the season runs over in Aus - have you got many more chances to get back out again to drop it further?. As others have said you join a very very very special list of cars & you must be over the moon that all the years, blood sweat & tears & all of the hard earned expense now seem well rewarded. We will bust our guts to try & get our car to join you in the club this year but no guarantees. Would love to see a huge worldwide event in the future say 2010 where all the cars come together for a weekend - would be incredible. Hope you enjoy a few beers !!
  2. Huge well done guys & no doubt a lot of beers will be sunk after the event has finished Good luck with the rest of the event & definitely more to come if you hit the rev limiter.
  3. Awesome weekend for the car even though the last 2 days were rained off Qualifying Fri/sat with eliminations starting Sunday pm Friday we had 3 runs 8.11 @ 166, 8.14 @ 165 & 8.16 @ 170 & lay 2nd in qualifying overnight Sat crap first run with me asleep 8.6 @ 173 another 8.14 @ 166 & then we said ok got the consistency up the boost from 1.8 to 1.95 for the last run. We were lined up against a 7.7 sec Ford probe which has been around for a few years & a bloody good driver so my backside was twitching a bit Both got cracking launches (his 1.12 & mine 1.15), halfway i'm 6/100ths behind & then at the 1000ft mark whoosh i get a windscreen full of water from a split hose, engine off straightaway, gearbox in neutral expecting the back end to bite but thankfully the water went up & not down so glided to the end of the run @ 8.14 @ 148 mph. The other car completed at 7.8 @172, worse case we might have slipped to a 10th behind him if we had a clean run. car was fine, no issues with water temps so new hose sorted for the sunday & bugger rained all day so no racing then today rained all day so no racing - have to wait 4 weeks now for the next one. So 5 8.1 runs out of 6 over the 2 days which is great & really chuffed with the consistency. Hope to carry it on & at least when we do get into the 7's we should be there consistenly.
  4. Little vid from a couple of weeks ago http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=z38G4aDqVK4
  5. cars getting close to running soon now then Good luck with her - be great to see how you get on
  6. Thanks adrian, Great weekend for the car this weekend, really warm with track temps 45 degrees, whole focus was purely to get some consistency to start with instead of worrying about power & really getting there now 8.51, 8.44, 8.39, 8.31, 8.30 all on 1.6 bar boost. Turned it up to 1.8 at the end & 8.29 with the car going very sideways towards the end (.6 lateral g ) which meant i had to get off the throttle for 1 sec which cost us time. Run again in 2 weeks - really looking forward to getting back in her now
  7. Hi fellas - hope everyones well Well finally we have started running again & great to have a full year ahead to work on the car now Spent the whole day testing doing nothing but working on clutch set up & launches & really started to pay off towards the end of the day with the last 3 60 foots being 1.26 then 1.18 then 1.17 which is great (best last year after the car was finished being built in august was 1.29). Still think we can get that down further to around 1.02 - 1.05 with more work/knowledge & further runs & more datalogging info. Determined to work slowly but methodically this year ticking a box off at a time rather than trying to rush things. wont even look at turning the power up until we start getting consistent launches first. piccie below from the day & start running in anger in 2 weeks - cant wait Cheers John
  8. Thanks Adrian would love to mate I would have loved to have brought it over but the time just isnt right yet & I dont want it to stand still now - a hell of a lot to do yet
  9. Well after loads of thought really sorry guys but I won't be bringing the car over in 2008 With the car only finished & ready for testing in August this year it has really been an uphill battle so far to learn quickly before the end of the season here in the UK which finished last saturday & what a bloody learning curve ie/ 2 engine failures due to oil flow, clutch settings, all new to us etc etc. We are there now on reliability since fitting the dry sump - last 2 meetings no issues at all & 9 runs in total which is great news & means we can start next year (Feb or March) with the nos system installed, more boost & get testing very early. Data logger is installed now (last weekend) & finally providing much needed info. Will also have a 2nd RB26 engine to use at the start of the year alongside the existing(completely different layout) to make comparisons against & choices which again puts us in a really strong position that early in the year. I don't see the point in shipping the car to Aus in Dec & getting it back in April when to be honest we are nowhere near where we want to be yet in the great scheme of things, it would just lose us 4 months development & dyno/engine building time & want to be out testing in feb (subject to the weather), cost us shedloads of cash when it could be better spent elsewhere for now & to be honest what's the point bringing "another" 8 sec car over to Aus - i would much sooner bring a 7 sec car over in 2009. It could also work out a lot better - HTL are open to the suggestion of both cars running together in 2009 (i need to get the car competitive in a big way first !!!!) :laughing-smiley-014: Still 8.51 within 8 weeks of the car being finished on low boost & no gas is a good starting point for next year. I'm still going to come over to watch the Perth & Sydney Summer nationals & would be great to say hello to a number of you when I come over Cheers John
  10. Mike you jammy git - hows Perth ????? Got the shipping costs for next year & not good !! - trying to barter like a bugger at the mo
  11. Fantastic time mate - well done to all involved what was the 60ft time? - any vids?
  12. Fantastic effort & by the sounds of things long overdue - you must delighted mate & great reward for all your effort Time for the RH9 stickers to be applied
  13. Bugger me this drag racing lark is hard work Had issues since the car was finished in August with oil flow so fitted a dry sump system & the car ran at the weekend for the first time with it fitted & great to say it now looks reliable at last Got about 7 runs in over 5 hours and no issues at all. The clutch needs working on more as we are really struggling to launch at full revs without it fighting back so hard it cant be held on the line so more adjustments required we turned the power up for the first time for the last run (over 2.5 bar, was running at 1.8 bar) & errmm interesting is the best description - wheelied off the start line straight across the other lane. Couple of minor changes to the suspension will sort that no hassles so looking to get back out again before the end of the year with more power & the cluth sorted all in all a mixed year, great to have the car back on the road & great to get a mid 8 but bit frustrated at not going dry sump to start with which would have given us more track & set up time to get the times down further before the end of the year but at least it gives us a great starting point for 08
  14. Thanks guys - well now have approval from Andra to run who have been really really helpful which is great news Perth Motorplex have also confirmed they are happy for us to run so only waiting on WSID now & it's all systems go which is amazing We will run in the Super Sedan class when we are over in Aus & for me this is a dream come true - a pile of testing to do here in the UK between now & the end of October & we will bust a gut to see hopefully a 7sec run before the car gets put into a container & shipped. I can feel a lot of beers coming on in Feb/March 2008 :sorcerer:
  15. :laughing-smiley-014: I can see Adrian now talking to the parts I really likee you :laughing-smiley-014:
  16. Looking good Adrain - going to be a beast when you're finished
  17. Cheers Mike was just great to finally launch the car for the 1st time after 10 months we kept the rev limits low to 7500 to play it safe & boost was only 1.8 bar 60 foots ended up at 1.3 so still another couple of 10ths there but fantastic to see the car back up & running. it runs straight as you like which really helps confidence in it & just seems like it could take twice the power without any probs. Just testing testing & more testing now really to get some time in the seat & learn where to save some time & crank the power up slowly
  18. Mike you are a legend mate & gutted that you'll be leaving the UK you lucky lucky bugger :laughing-smiley-014: Huge thankyou & amazing work you have done over the last few years not just for me but countless people here in the Uk. Guys if any of you live near Perth pop & see Mike, with a spray gun in his hand - amazing he's also a raging alcoholic :laughing-smiley-014: - thats a different story !!! - lol See you in March Mike in Aus mate - get the beers in the cooler !!!!!!!!!!
  19. thanks mate - here's a vid of the first power run 1/4 mile on the dyno whilst still running the engine in http://www.motovideo.co.uk/projectgtst3.mpg
  20. Many thanks mate - will let you know later in the year when exactly the car will be over. Good news today following more mapping Did 17 1/4 mile drag runs on the dyno today Best terminal was 172 mph Car made 1087 bhp at the flywheel at 1.9 bar or 921bhp at the hubs We up the boost much further once the engine is run in ok & tests seem fine & still have a big bhp nos system to connect Already though we have over 120 bhp more than last year ready for the first test & the car is 300kg lighter - going to be interesting First track run next Monday
  21. Quick vid taken yesterday when we cranked the car over for the first time http://www.dropshots.com/day.php?use...cdate=20070715 Had planned to run today but yet again the crap British weather beat us - worst June on record followed by what looks like a simailr July never mind testing as soon as we can now
  22. yes the 9.93 we did was on MT slicks, we will whack the RB25 in again at the end of this season on the new chassis (still on slicks though). Good luck with your times on the street tyres
