Ok, so I disconnected the actuator rod, and took it for a spin. Boost obviously comes on late LATE, but still managed to hit around 14/15 psi, so not the actuator that's causing the problems. Now it seems that the wastegate flap got stuck onto something. So I'm gonna have to drop the exhaust and see what the hell is going on in there.
-
yeah i figure it will make it laggier, but an ebc should help a fair bit (obviously after i reattach the actuator pole and replace/modify it). As for the split/dump pipe, as i said earlier it was recommended by a tuner with a really good reputation, so I dunno, I'm hoping that's not the problem (since i don't really need another paper weight )
-
Yeah i thought so. There doesnt seem to be anything really stopping the rod coming off, do you know whether just pulling it off is alright? Also do you think that will properly diagnose the problem?

Hey, as mentioned in the title, i get boost creep above 4500ish rpm. I have a stock turbo, split dump pipe (recommended and installed by reputable workshop), gutted cat, and 3inch catback exhaust, FMIC. At the moment, I'm not running a boost controller. turbo spools up to 7psi, stays there until around 4500 and then keeps spooling to 14-16psi depending on the weather. The problem only really became noticable/annoying when i got the split/dump done and gutted the cat. before that it would only creep to 11-12 (which wasn't a problem as the ecu wudn't shit itself). I asked a mechanic what it could be, he suggested that the wastgate needed to be ported, and told me that would be costly and wasn't worth the money on a standard turbo. I did a few searches on sau, saw that a possible cause could be that the wastgate flap was hitting the split/dump pipe, or that it could be the actuator. In an old post, sydneykid suggested that pulling the actuator arm off would allow you to see if the wastgate is capable of releasing enough gasses to stop the turbo from spooling up too much. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/In...ifying+actuator (last page) I would like to try taking the arm off, but i can only see one place, and im not 100% sure that is where you're supposed to pull it off. If anyone could shed some light on this, it would be great. Also, in my search i found the 'bodgy wastgate actuator mod'. If it turns out that the acuator isnt letting the flap open enough, could the wastgate actuator mod be used in reverse? to get the opposite effect (i know it would mean the flap is always a little open). http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Bo...le+actuator+mod Anyone got any ideas? I attached a pic of my actuator, I've never seen another r33 one, so I'm not sure whether there is supposed to be a bend in it. Thanks in advance

hey, yeah mate i wasn't trying to have a go at you, its obvious you're just trying to look after people. I suppose when you think about it, the owner really should've said something about any previous accidents etc, so you really can't be blamed for trying to warn others.

I was reading the report, i thought it all seemed alright until it got to the body section, that's pretty bad. But I'm pretty sure that you shouldn't be posting something like that on a public forum (even though u might have just saved somebody a fair bit of money/drama)

i thought that insurance doesn't cover you if you're drink driving?:S

im just surprised they didnt include the terminator 'i'll be back' maybe not the most inventive quote in the world, but arnie made it cool

hey, great 60ft time, what tires/suspension were you running, cuz if I could manage under 2s 60ft id throw a party and invite u:), oh and what mods do you have, cause thats a great time
-
i heard that you can get sued for something that happened i think 5 or 7 years back... pretty sure insurance claim falls in that category... either way, that sucks, did u have full insurance with your old car at the time of the accident? because if you did they should have to pay for the damages to your car (if you end up paying them this time)... i feel sorry for you, btw, that A4 piece of paper idea is gold.. im thinking of sending one to my year 11 maths teacher... good luck

saw a white r33 gtst pretty sure it was a s2, it had an aftermarket bar (i think), on corrigan rd

look it depends on how old you are... if you're looking to settle down, then yeah of course a house is a good idea/investment. we all know that the house is the logical choice, there's no denying it, but a lot of people on here love their cars (not in a sexual way) i know with me, when i think of money, the first thing that i think of is how i would spend it on the skyline. selling the car will deprive you of those daydreams. it's the main thing i look forward to.... but then again, a lot of older people look back and regret spending money on their cars, so i dunno, maybe i'm too young to judge this..

hey, i was driving down greens road on friday i think, and as i was changing the cd, my friend said that he thought a 'morpheous' purple skyline waved at me...duno, just wondering if it was ne1 here, or whether my friend is crazy.
-
i figure ure gona have a hard time getting those drunks girls to come over if you dont have a car and you know ure gona die a lil inside if u get rid of the skyline

saw a silver 33 i think s2, turning right onto springvale road from cheltenham rd today around 5.45, saw sau sticker on the window
-
hey, I'll most likely be going to the fun day to see how this thing handles, i live in the SE suburbs (keysborough), so if anyone is going from there, let me know, it would be good to not have to cruise there by myself...a freeway full of skylines always looks good.
-
hey, soz to hear about getting hassled if i was you, i would write a letter first, and if they don't take the fine away, then i would take it to court. Good luck man
-
im pretty sure i saw dogknight's car on perry road near keysborough maccas, had the same rims, didn't see an sau sticker...
-
hey, I've never been to a meeting before, is there a lil cruise afterwards or is everyone going to be too drunk to drive by the end of the meeting?
-
On the 3rd point, I agree with you (obviously) On the 2nd point, I dont know, since I've never done the course before, I wouldn't know, I'm just going by what I've heard. On the 1st point, you're right, the car won't powerslide unless you've been giving it to it, but i wasn't talking about powersliding, i was talking about the car just sliding out (even without power being applied), and as I've said before, it could be just my suspension/tyre setup, either way, I don't think you can make that generalisation without ever driving my car. But maybe that wasn't directed at my, and was just a general comment. Anyway, this thread is about my friends crash, the reason that i came on was just to let people know what happened and that he wasn't trying to be a 'hero' as some people commented. If everybody is so divided about advanced driving courses/instability of skylines on wet roads/grammer, maybe seperate threads should be made just for those issues. Just my 2c

Thanks man, I do have crappy tyres, and I am looking to get them changed when they wear out abit more.
