He said that the guy spent 30g all up on the car, not that he could sell it for 30g. With the whole grammar, its not worth raising a massive issue about it, I'm starting to feel as if I'm on Today Tonight. 'there's an epidemic, people aren't using capital letters, it was horrible... he didn't put a full stop at the end of the sentence, 10 000 people died because of it' You would think that since we're all skyline owners and we all enjoy using this forum, we would try give each other a break every now and then instead of attack at every chance? comments/thoughts?

Yeh i know, old msn habbits

Yeh fair enuf, soz i mistook it. I'm starting to think its the tyre/suspension combination, since it used to be fine before, mayb tires just getting worn out. Don't know, my car duznt have all that much power, just got problems with putting it down cuz i havnt touched the suspension since the last owner (im tempted to say the front springs may have been cut:S, either that or he has super lows on front but standard on back, dunno). But jeh abit off track, neways soz for taking it the wrong way, guess i was just pissed off that on skylines australia of all places, people would automatically assume that my friend was hooning around (even though im sure it is a cause of accidents on our roads).
-
Hodl up, i never said that the car was 'too much' for me, just said that the car has a tendency to kick out under no power. Obviously I'm not a pro driver, and mayb its just that my suspension is horrible (don't know what the guy before me has done to it, but it feels weird), but thats just my opinion, and without you ever seeing me drive, you don't have much of a right to say that. Mayb i took this the wrong way, or mayb you did, i don't know, either way, i was just highlighting why my friend crashed so people would stop automatically assuming that he did it whilst hooning. And i tend not to get scared in the car when im being silly since i expect it to happen so I'm ready, i feel its alot worse when you go over an unseen bump while cornering and the car just steps out etc... thats what i don't like about the car, i dont have a problem with controlling it in the wet, its just that you have to be alot more carefull and concentrate alot harder then driving a normal car. I am getting new suspension soon, which will probably fix that. But either way, mayb you are right since I am only 18, and I could do with some more practice. The point i was trying to make by saying 'driving in the wet is a nightmare' was that at least my car tends to step out a shitload, and i think most drivers (especially young ones), could do with an advanced driving lesson. I would like your opinion on this (im assuming you're older and have probably done something like that before)
-
Yeh there is definitely that, but it depends on what kind of road you're on, what kind of suspension you have and what type of tires you have. In the wet, i don't bury my right foot, the car slides on its own alot of the time (not powerslide), and the whole boost thing duznt make it any easier. But thanks for the constructive criticism.
-
Advanced drivers course would definitely help. Driving a R33 gts-t in the wet is a nightmare. In the wet around corners hyundai excels get away from me lol, the back just steps out of line. (probably has a lot to do with my crappy suspension, but I'l definitely get into one of the driver dynamics courses, just so i can get some tips on safer driving in the wet.

ATP GTS, his name is Adam, good friends with the guy who crashed. He was already at the go-kart track (i think) when the other guy crashed.
-
The guy that crashed is my friend, he's perfectly fine (thank god for airbags). He walked out without a scratch. What happened was the road was a bit slippery, car went on boost and kicked out, the guy didn't manage to recover it and smacked into the pole. I think he panicked and hit the accelerator instead of the brakes (I didn't want to get into too much detail with him). They were on the way to go go-karting and thats when it happened. The thing is, the guy is 24, off his P's and only had the car for a year. I think if he was a hoon and practiced drifting, he would've recovered it, but i suppose shit just happens. The car is a complete write-off but i suppose the main thing is that hes fine and the night didn't end with us having to call his parents.

oh and another thing, vicroads says that in your first 6 months of driving ure 2 (or 3) times more likely to crash. that just shows that the tests are too easy (i dont think ne1 stops being a hoon after 6 months)
-
a lot of ppl have said it and i agree, we need tougher tests here in VIC. i got my licence in SA and its significantly harder over there. but according to people from europe, even SA test is weak compared to the ones they had to take. alot of drivers are going out with not enough practice and quite poor driving skills. there should be a set amount of hours to be done with a qualified instructor and people should have to resit their test every X amount of years. just my 2c

dont quote me on this, but apparently swaybars (under 400$) give significantly increased handling without comprimising the ride quality (again dont quote me on this). so u should look into this. also if u think ure a bit handy, getting a pod and making your own CAI is worth-while. and if u dont want to keep peeling the defect stickers from your windshield, id also make a heat shield for it (plenty of guides on here on how to do it, just do a search).

Hey guys, just incase somebody else has this problem, i spoke to my mechanic and he thinks that because the exhaust is so free flowing and efficient now (no cat and good dump pipe) the wastegate hole is too small to let the air through, thus the boost creep. So he told me that a solution would be porting the wastegate, but the thinks that modyfing a standard turbo is too costly and pointless. He also says that skylines tend to just run rich, so the surge of boost won't actually hurt the engine too much, just will equal in a bit of smoke coming out and risk of R&R happening. He suggests taking it to the dyno and checking the mixtures just to be on the safe side. I would like to ask how much porting the wastegate would actually cost if anybody knows? And also is it possible to do it yourself. Also he said that a tune (SAFC) would come in handy just to correct the A/F ratios abit so less damage to engine and better performance. If porting the wastegate is too $$$ im just going to get a jaycar digital fuel adjuster and run 10psi and fix up the A/F ratios up top so the car runs smoother. Hope this helps anyone

if ure getting an fmic.... save money on the CAI and make it yourself. it will cost u 20 bux if u buy some PVC pipes from bunnings (u can put it through the standard cooler holes) im sure it wont b as good as actually buying one..but it will be very close and with the money saved u can buy a strut bar or some petrol... also if those are all the mods that ure going to do..u might want to look into getting a jaycar digital fuel adjuster. works like the SAFC but it will only cost u like 200$ with the tune (look it up)

hey just incase... did u just get a noise test or a full emmissions test? cuz if its just noise just get stock zorst from cat back (i passed mine like that without a cat and they didnt say nething cuz all they check for is noise)
-
i have the same problem...dont know what to do...if it turns out that the actuator is broken or whatever...how much would another one cost me?
-
lol to the fire extinguisher...

hey im from melbourne, and we also have the anti-hooning laws i have to agree that there doesnt really seem to be much of a correlation between the road toll and hoons. whenever a teen dies from racing it makes the news (not that often). the people that die while speeding often do it in the wrong type of car. there has been a lot of controversy over speeding fines and revenue raising. i dont believe fines were introduced to boost revenue, but at this point they are factored in to the budget. so it can be assumed that fines arent given just for safety reasons. some defets such as having a low car dont actually make it less safe (unless the springs have been cut). the police (at least here in melb) have the tendency to issue defects for tyres that are too wide, there isnt much reasoning in that as wider tires=more traction, but ahwel. also stupid defects like handbrake clicks (on autos) and pod filters is ridiculous. as for the whole emmisions thing, an r33 gtst has lower emmisions than most v8s of the same age. most jap cars have smaller engine size but account for it with turbos. while driving normally, the car doesnt burn as much petrol where as the v8 is constantly guzzling. though iv had serious luck when it comes to police *touch wood*, i still have to complain and whine and bitch cuz i know eventually the laws are going to get to the point where we are left without any freedoms (going past cars to drinking and smoking etc.) so we need to stop letting the government walk over us. the worst thing that can be done is to turn the other cheek and say 'oh its ok, its only a minor thing that theyre taking away from me'. the road toll is never going to be zero, because people have a tendency to screw up. even over-engineered space shuttles stuff up and theyre designed and operated by the most brilliant minds on our planet, so its safe to say that there will be accidents. though the road toll can be reduced, anti-hooning laws arent going to get the result that the public (and the government) claims to want. as somebody mentioned earlier, technological advancements are going to account for the largest reductions (ESP will reduce by 30%). lol i just realised i wrote a book, soz guys, hope someone read it and gives some feedback, also soz if i said something that was wrong, i just went on a bit of a rant lol...so any feedback would be nice (obviously support would be nicer)

um im not sure if it makes the sound when fuel tank is open... i dont think so :S...neways i bought some hard setting gasket type stuff :S....it says that its fuel resistant so im gona give that a go tomorrow (it only cost 6.50) and i'l let u guys know....but from inspection the seal looks alrite..but i do remember seeing lil lines coming down the quarter panel..so jeh lets hope its that and not the fuel lines...cuz i seriously dont wana go through the pain of taking off fuel lines from the fuel filter :@... that was the biggest bitch in the world
-
yeh i'l check it out tomorrow...thanks ..going to sleep...
-
i gota say...that was quick ... i took a look at the sealer seems to be fine.... im gona re-seal it and see whether nething changes .... if ne1 has any other suggestions (besides changing fuel lines) it be good to hear them just incase this doesnt work out and for ne1 else that might have the same problem thanks
-
yeh i got a fuel smell in the car, but it only seems to come around when im low on petrol. friend suggested leaky injectors (apparently a problem for vls), really dont know...i wana get it fixed up cuz well i dont wana have to keep lying to all the girls and saying things like (the car is so high performence that it has to have that smell). i looked around the forum, couldn't really get any ideas (also if ure not 100% sure what it cud be, but have an idea dont b shy we're all nice skyline loving ppz here ) thanks in advance
-
im doin exact same thing just that im in first year.... same majors and everything (white r33 s2 with frontmount and sideskirts)
-
nah rexies can hit 250 with minimal mods. my friend just had full zorst and frontmount he hit 250 (on a track ovcours). i think its ridiculous that the cops chased him. when they clocked him doing 250 they shudnt've even bothered cuz him trying to run away wud b even more dangerous. (im guessin no helicopter) so jeh i think thats bulshit to begin with. he shud get jailed for trying to run away, but the speeding bit depends on the circumstances. look doing 250 on the way to geelong at 3am on a weekday isnt dangerous. the road is perfect and no traffic, so i think it has to be looked like that and there should be some sort of system that allows that (i think there actually might be when u actually go to court, but im not sure) as for the whole car-crushing thing, i think its ridiculous, this isnt a communist country, so they shudnt b allowed to do that, or even sell your car. they should however b able to ban your car from being registred under your name (i think thats fair enuf) but the other stuff is just plain bs

yeh i gotta say, throwing your smoke out of the window or stomping it on the ground isnt that bad... i mean where else are u going to throw it (btw leaving butts in the ashtray leaves HORRIBLE smell) and as for stomping ciggies on the ground, i mean i always make an effort to throw into drain (lol kill fish) and anyway, paying fines to the government for what? i mean i wud support the whole invasion of iraq if petrol prices wud be lower, i would pay speeding fines if they actually fix up the roads or kik old people off or actually make an effort to educate young drivers (driving test in victoria is a joke) (im prolly just sayin this cuz i dont wana get dobbed in for throwing smoke butt out of window *shrugs* )
