Yeah i got an extreme brass button too. . . . Why do alot of people hate them???

Got exactly the same problem. Just randomly the speedo stopped working and hicas light came on and steering went heavy. . weird thing is that every now and then the light turns off and steering goes light again then it goes heavy again????? and im blowing smoke. . was something else and that was fixed but now it only smokes when i back off (valve seals have been replaced and still does it) and it blows smoke out of the catch can ONLY when boost is on when its not on its fine???

Had the same problem. . . oil in the intake turned out to be blown turbo seals and the oil in the breather pipes was blown rings from excesive crank case pressure blowing the dipstick out and blowing oil out the breather pipes

Just remember if you finally decide you want a turbo, sell your car and get a turbo version. . . dont do a turbo conversion . . trust me . . . its a bad idea. . .

Ash nah you have the wrong guy lol. . . i dont know this guy. My mate was also there that night Daniel im the daniel there talking bout lol And paul nah i dont think my mates will do a turbo conversion after what i went through lol

Its been very hard not letting boost come on. . . it starts coming on at about 2500rpm

Ok swapping the rocker cover hoses seems to have fixed the problem. The only smoke i get now is a little bit when i change down gears as im coming to corners.....

Try looking in the for sale section and also have a look in the cosmetic section to see what is around

Ok found what it might be. The 2 breather hoses on the rocker covers were conected to the intake pipe just before the throttle body which when it built up boost was putting it straight into the rocker covers. We had the guy that built the bottom end come round and have a look and as soon as he said that we could see the problem. I feel like an idiot now for missing something so simple but it was good to have a 'fresh' set of eyes to check it out, i was looking too hard for something more complicated. It still smokes but nowhere near as bad as before, ill give it a few runs this week to see if it improves Cheers for the help and sugestions guys

Yeah it is but i wanted to do the 26/30 but my motor gave way before i could start building it. I was gonna build the 26/30 over bout a 1 to 1 1/2 years but since my motor blew i had to fix it as i had nothing else to put in If that makes sense?

The original plan was to drive this around with just bolting on a turbo for as little as i could spend which nearly happened for under 2k, till i couldnt find a turbo ecu (no one wanted to seperate it from the half cut) The idea was to drive that around and get used to a turbo car while i built a 26/30 combo with the best parts in it, which was going to take a while but my motor gave way before i could even start (oh i got the 30 bottom end that was it) so i fixed this motor and thought cool i can start building my 'big' motor now, then a few days later (yesterday) it gave way again, and i dont wanna get another motor or really fix this one again and then put the 'big' motor in Its a hard choice on what to do but i might have a better idea once the guys that built the bottom end have a look at it, which will hopefully be this week. . . .

So any ideas on what i should do with it? Strip the parts and sell them, sell the car as it is or fix it up again?
