  1. Great thanks for the suggestions guys!
  2. yes true that TAC pay in a normal situation... but they (like the insurance company) -potentially- could refuse to pay due to you driving illegally.
  3. Hey, I picked up a helmet today - Revolution Racegear currently has a sale till the 26th June or something so I got a full face graphic (riced heh) for $135 supposedly down from $220. Anyway, now the next thing to do is the secondary bonnet restraint. I spent a fustrating 10 minutes just staring at the bonnet closed to see how I could do this and could not come up with anything. I know you can use webbing strap and then tie it to the toe hook, but I couldn't see where you could attach this to the bonnet? I prefer if there could be some form of "hook" fixed to the bottom of the bonnet, that I could latch onto the frame - IE have it latched all the time to a) prevent bonnet opening even on the road and B) to take a thief a few more sec to open the bonnet. I tried thinking of how to do this too, but there isn't many holes in the bottom of the bonnet and not many place for a hook (that you can reach with the bonnet semi-closed (ie lever pulled but still latched). Does anyone here have any pictures of how they've done it? If it helps its for a S1.5 R33. Thanks
  4. Something you should think about when driving unlicenced is that all insurance is null and voided... If you hit someone (big big bucks, $100,000+, compo, rehab etc) or some car, you'll have no insurance cover, so also hope you don't hit a merc or something.
  5. Hhehe I know this guy
  6. Doh! Sorry, I stand corrected!
  7. You should teach me a few things if we're in Queenstown the same time BTW, I think we may have a mutual friend, Chiev?
  8. Without engineers, they are.
  9. Ferni: Heh yeah, I used to have more weight on my backfoot as I thought that gave the impression that I wouldn't go as fast, however, took me a -long- time to work out thats why it took forever and a more before I could do decent turns. When you have 50/50 turns are so much easier, but you also get a sensation (possibly true) that you are going faster.
  10. You will be a rating 6 and judged as not ever having insurance. It's stupid, I was in the same situation, I even got a my insurer (GIO) to provide a written statement that I was rating 2, driving 4 years, no claims, but it was not accepted due to the technicality that I was not "the policy holder". However, if you've had insurance in your own name (even third party) then most companies will give you some kind of NCB - which I think is a bit stupid... people with 3rd party don't normally claim so if they've had an accident the insurer doesn't even know, but if you have full comp you would normally claim.
  11. Unplug, then rotate the housing (where the plug clips into) a quarter turn and it should just come out.
  12. I'm heading off to Queenstown first week of Aug for some snowboarding too! I'm still relatively new though, this will be my third season.. but I love it!
  13. You can get some Motul 5.1 500ml for ~$11 / bottle
  14. How is it a "Celeron Pentium 4"? There is no such thing... For that price, it must be a Celeron.
  15. Rhett dude, sorry to hear I'm the asian dude who spoke to you are the GOR cruise (the guy who left after lunch before the photo shoot)
  16. Aww, thought this was how to make the rollers and stuff so you could run your car as if you were on a dyno.... great for those who are leasing and have to make up some KMs
  17. I was told to use Mobil 1 5/50 but its a bit pricey ($65/5 Litres) to keep changing every 5000k... and wouldn't mind going for a cheaper (but don't really want to get something thats inferior) oil instead.
  18. I also work in IT (IT Consultant)
  19. It's a little grey and may be 50/50 depending on the circumstances of your claim. Insurance will "cover" you when you tell them of your a/m modifications (adding to your premium of course)... but technically speaking (vic) your car does not pass EPA, hence is not roadworthy... and if you have a look at the fine print of your insurance policy, it does not cover non road-worthy cars. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't
  20. Great! Thanks Duncan!
  21. I've done a search but the results where there used to be pics.. are no longer Does anyone have any pics of how they've attached a 900g/1kg fire extinguisher in a R33 skyline? I was thinking about whipping up some frame thing from the two rear seat bolts and having the f.e. on the little hump thing (very accessible) but the frame would basically eat into rear passenger leg room and thus not be a permanent option - unless some clever metal work was involved. The front passenger seat left hand rail bolt isn't straight to the right hand rail bolt so not as easy as just putting a bar there either. I would prefer options that can use existing bolts in the car.
  22. Looks cool!
  23. Oh... my apologies, I didn't mean offence to anyone in this club - from all my time here, generally everyone here seems to be good characters. I was not aware it was also posted on NS/MelbCCR (especially the latter who have had bad reputation, especially most recently with the R33 incident)... I hope that everything still goes smoothly, I'll judge it on the day and if I think its wise to pull out mid-cruise or something then that might happen.
  24. I've never gone on any cruise with 'public' groups before so this will be the first one for me. I generally only go on cruises with friends, or people who I trust etc so I'm also hoping like NRB that it all goes smoothly. I'm also a slow driver so I'll probably go last
