Those "raffles" are so dodgy... The prize is what 80k.. but if you check how many tickets they sell, they probably nett $500,000, give $250,000 away to charity, $80,000 to you and keep the remaining $170,000 in "administration fees"... Just like in that 60 minutes thing about the Red Cross Bali thing with the RC keeping 1+million for "administration fees".

Wouldn't it be cheaper to sell it as is and buy a manual one? Not to mention once you do that modification, your insurance (and anyone who you sell it to) will be a bit hazy cause its a major change to the car - Ie you cant call it a manual gts-t legally, you have to call it a auto converted to manual gts-t...

Just cause you have insurance doesn't necessary mean its legal. Remember insurance is a business as well and they are in it to make money. What better way than charge you a premium then when you claim, they pull the "disclosure" clause then deny your claim. They walk away with all the 1000s of premiums paid, and tell you its too bad, it is up to you to check whether you are legally supposed to be driving the car or not.

Cops make pretty good salaries... 2 years and then the AWARD (they get more for overtime etc) is already 58k. So much for the days when IT paid big bucks (I'm in IT btw) - I should join the police force

None of us weary people have anything against Famous.. I'm sure they're an excellent company. But in the end they are only an AGENT of Heritage.. which means if Heritage disappears, it is not the problem of Famous, nor can you sue Famous etc. With 380 "oversea" insurance agents registered in Guersney (as counted on their website) it sounds/looks a little dodgy. It is going to be too much hassle (and hence cost) to find lawyers to hunt down overseas parties.. and even if you find them (Heritage is listed with a PO BOX?) theres no guarantee that you can sucessfully sue them since they're under different jurisdiction (think of Christopher Skase). Bottom line, Famous could be 100% excellent company, but if Heritage disapper then you will not only have nothing to claim from, but end up having to pay: 1) your own car 2) their car/property 3) legal fees 4) anything else I've forgotten Because, basically you will have zero cover aka no insurance at all.

How tight are the police in Melbourne about oil pods? Have you got yours in a sealed box?
