so enlight of my desecion to move out, instead of spending on the car. i can't stop myself from wanting to burn a hole in my pocket. currently i own an auto but I'm thinking the best thing i can do to get more out of my engine without actually working the engine is to get a better gearbox as the auto one i teh boring and slow in first. i tried to search the drivechain section of the forums but couldn't find much, which was surprising. i guess I'm try to research costs and where i can even get a gearbox from? what places charge to do it or should i do it myself? considerations that i just wont think off like pedal kits and mounts and crap. or even if I'm thinking its going to be much more different when in fact it wont be at all? thanks guys i really love having a wealth of knowlege like you guys for me to bounce crazy idea's off

not sure exactly which is which but there is a fuse for each light, get a pair of needle nose pillars, or something of that nature and pull them out, they should just pull straight up, try not to bend them from side to side if you can. if the fuse is popped it will look substantially different to the other ones. pull all four out one at a time have a look at it, put it back in if they are all ok then the problem is more likely to be at the next junction in chain towards the cockpit, either a switch or a fuse are the typical weak points. if the fuse is popped, you can get replacement ones from Supercheap/Repco/Autobarn all those good places. the number on the top indicates the AMPerage of the fuse, if a 10 is busted you need to put a 10 back in that spot. keep us posted!

apparently you cam aim them with the PC and they have sound effects and everything the only bit that sucks is retrieving the missiles i guess. i'm talking about the USB toy, not having a wank

thats a sexy engine bay
-
surely you don't mean that, please tell me you don't mean that
-
It doesn't come much more pointless – or fun – than a USB missile launcher

there is some fuses in the box under the steering wheel, and there are some larger fuses in the fuse box in the engine bay. i own a 32 so they maybe in slightly different spots and positions. my fuse box cover has a diagram which shows whats where but its in Jap so i can only make out the H/B. is yours in English by any chance? also what would you like a pic of exactly? i got heaps haha

sounds like you got a fun set of wheels dude - picsorban also i love Nuga's (Canungra) i only ever driven crappy 110 Rover's through there but would love to take the 32 for a run around there

sucks about the cash flow issue dude, i'm a uni bum too so i empathies with your position. but i would really think about what actions you take cause if you attempt to do it your self and drop the head or hit and its weak and it shatters (seen it happen to a PT Cruiser head) you will be in a certain creek without an important instrument. also i wouldn't pay off what Dan from ERD says, i don't know him but the "in" people on here give him rave reviews about his work and knowledge... experience is your friend.

hey dude, I'm writing a tut on one of the many ways to fix this problem at the moment buts its not finished yet. its pretty simple so don't pay an auto-lecy money for a job you can do yourself. i found the problem to be in two places, firstly the roller switch which operates the parkers and the standard beam lights (SB) and then further a issue with the contacts on the back of the mech that controls the High beam (HB) on/off and the pass function. sometimes on the roller switch the the little heads that push the contacts up and down either snap off or become worn with age which means they don't push the contacts together enough to turn the light on (both lights have individual contacts). i pulled the roller switch apart and cleaned it up and fixed a broken head by making one out of Areldite (spelling?) which fixed the lights for a good while but just last night the problem came back. this time i traced the problem back to the HB control in the steering column, its really easy to pull out takes 10mins its only three screws. on the back of the mech there is five contacts on the far right side are the contacts which control the SB on and off, the far right one is for the Passenger side beam and the next one on the left controls the driver side SB. try turning on the ignition to ACC and then push the contacts down this should turn the light on and pulling them up will turn the light off. this is as far as i got today because i got to go to work/uni but when i finish i will post up a photo filled solution to this common/annoying problem. NB: for a quick fix, flick your high beam controller to pass a few times and see if is enough to make better contact as its only a crappy plastic mech which lifts and depress the contact that would wear with age for sure. NBB: if the contact gets hot after a few mins of playing around it means its not contacting proper and cause resistance which makes it get hot NBBB: everyone should own a Multimeter they are worth every penny

Hey guys Was on me way home today sitting in traffic and my R32 simply went from a low idel to dead without giving much warning. it felt like a stall but it was pretty quick, it started up again straight away no trouble but it did it again about 20 mins later sitting in traffic again. its only just started, and i havn't had much of a chance to look at it but i'm short on time at the moment and short on cash to so a tiffy is not an option. where do you think i should start? i think the sparkies were changed at 76,000 its not got just over 150,000. the air fillter looked pretty clean, no idea what the fuel fillter looks like. its an RB20DET - no mods standerd Auto tranny

yeah i remember SDT had a performance driving course(i still have the add), but it got canned because soccer mums said it was producing hoons or something like that

I'm surprised this thread kept well on topic, very impressive. I'm starting to think moving out is the best option at this point, once i grad Uni i can look to earning some real money then getting a 34 GTR or something nice like that. i was looking into other engines to drop in and along the way i found out my dad is a raging fan old model V8's (i only just found out he used to drive a V12!) particularly the Buick Rivera and Wildcats and i think i would much rather either by my dad either a fully restored or work in progress car for Christmas and restore that with him rather than potentially kill the Skyline. besides the idea of buying my old man a car makes me far more happier then making him worry about the thought of me strapping the V8 into a power pole any day.

if he gets a new front end, cause i think the ends can be tin snipped together, that shit will buff right out
