  1. haven't been into the Valley since I moved back from Cairns about eight months ago, haven't been to the goldy since schoolies ha
  2. serioues question, which is better a night in the valley or a weekend at the Goldy? - I hate pills
  3. sold on the north or south side?
  4. 10Gs for a GTR! must be pretty messed up?
  5. people who deal in the economy and intangible assests defy my logic. the only thing I know is that channel Seven should stop the "mind your money" shows, the PM should appear on QandA not with Koshy.
  6. apart from the averageness of the reviews I think SBS has done a great job to bring you high brow people a good show. It was a massive gamble and would have taken thousands of man hours of meeting and programing and SBing. Its light hearted, I understand the references, anyone who doesn't enjoy paddock bashing with their mates is un-Australian. They'll never beat UKtopger for all the obvious reasons. and the review for the black, for 300Gs if its not farkin awesome i'd rather buy a house and walk to work.
  7. did you buy this plates as an investment?
  8. any reason why Nortons Ghost can't fill the task? or even windows backup?
  9. yeah jail in more an inconvient education sometimes.

    The Spit Today

sleeper FTW. I got pulled up once, like 4am. cop wanted to look at the turbo (why is beyond me) anyway long story short poor fella placed his hand on the hot end of the dump pipe...yes it did suck to be him that day, no it didn't smell like bacon.
  11. rebirthed maybe. seems planned, to go to all that trouble. Can't say I have any pitty for someone who drives totally uninsured though.
  12. that's awesome, my struggle for the last 3 years is trying to find what I really want to do. What do they say "if you love your job you'll never work a day in your life" also, if your pretty intellectual have you thought about working a hands on job while completing some higher education ie a graduate position?
  13. my old man tells me used to spray WD40 on his sparkies every 12 hours for days to get them out back in his day.
  14. I understand what your saying, but I'm pretty selective when i chose to do it, only coming to a halt. I have been racking my brain but cannot think of a situation where planting it will get me out of an accident without causing one at the same time. I was almost taken out by a Hi-lux which got under steer coming around a corner and headed straight for me waiting at the lights, but even then pushing forward into the intersection would have caused an incident also. I'm more concerned about doing damage to the drive chain. either the fuel saved is huge or my odometer is reading wrong because I'm getting 10.2L per 100Kms consistently without changing anything else.
  15. wow, sounds like the size of my bank account is no longer attached to your wheels! best outcome is no one was hurt. Do you intend to find out what caused this?
  16. anything staying on like a poorly installed head unit?
  17. wanted to see if dropping out of drive to neutral as often as i could (stopped, rolling into lights) would make a difference to my fuel eco. Its made a huge different now getting about 100Km/10.1L. Just wondering if anyone can think of any reason why i shouldn't do this? possible damage to the transmission or the TC? I wondered how the it goes finding and appropriate gear if i suddenly put it back into drive while rolling? cheers
  18. I'm not even going to bite at that, if your interested to find how your wrong I'll happily direct you to a pile of books and research data.
  19. Yeah somehow I don’t think I will add your so eloquently written words to my study. Clearly you wrote the book on media effects and have done heaps of contemporary ethnographic research. And don't make judgments on my character mate you know nothing about me.
  20. your right about the Bible, it is one of the few cases of direct media effects in action. Lots of people call for violent video/street racing games to be banned but its proven that more murders cite the bible as their inspiration rather then video games. So why is no one calling for the Bible to be banned? very off topic I know sorry. If you believe everything your told like gospel then how come your rebutting me? I've spent the last three years studing media effects dude, people aren't sheep.
  21. I'm not sure about your point on gun laws, I was young but I remember Martin Bryant being a major agent for gun law change? Your right about advertising however, there is large cognitive difference between buying the kids wheat-bix and, wait what is it that people actually do about hoons again? I don't believe the world is full of sheep, besides we aren't talking about the whole world V skyline owners. We live in a time where the "sheep" model of audience has never been more wrong. The young girls and body images debate often misses a major part of what makes advertising successful, the way people cognitivly construct their social environment and how they position themselves in that environment. re the religion point, your talking about something that takes years of education at a young age. I don't even really see the point your making, that doesn't have anything to do with the media especially not the Australian media environment and we have one of the most concentrated media ownerships in the world. what your saying is that if TT/ACA told you tonight that the sky is green, and always has been. Then you would wake up tomorrow and be shocked to find it blue?
  22. Radio and TV actually have very little power to influence peoples attitudes, sure they can set the public agenda but changing attitudes requires massive amounts of effort. I love the 'brainwashed masses' argument always leveled at the media. If everyone is brainwashed why aren't you, why is everyone else somehow dumber and more suceptable to media effects then you or every other high horse person who says that? Stop giving the media so much power ffs we are all intelligent beings capable of discerning what we see on shows like TT/ACA! if Skylines are the pin up car for hoons, who cares... it might increase the amount of people in the market for them. After all in the media it doesn't matter what they say as long as the spell your name right.
  23. This issue comes up all the time, I don't understand why your so offended being labeled a 'hoon'. The way I see it if your not hooning then you have nothing to be worried about. An ACA/TT beat up are completely inconsequential to any real outcome, be it policy or attitudinal. If a VNR could actually change peoples attitude towards an issue PR professionals would be pumping them out faster then broadcast networks could play them. at the end of the day if you break the law and can't be resigned to keeping racing behavior where it belongs, on the track. Then you should be labeled some degredating term, they don't make laws because its fun. Now I don't agree with all anti-hooning laws especially car crushing but if they didn't have a tough stance can you imagine how dangerous the roads could be. just my opinion anyway
