Importing A Car Inerstate
autoworx replied to cieehh's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
you might want to thoroughly check the details of the accident "Statutory write-offs Statutory write-offs are damaged vehicles that are deemed unsuitable for repair, as the damage is too severe. These vehicles are known targets of car thieves because they can be purchased at low cost. The vehicle’s VIN will be recorded as a statutory write-off. Statutory write-offs are ineligible for registration in Western Australia and in any other jurisdiction within Australia. " -
ive got a 94 gtr with 70,000km on the dash , full service history and certificates from nissan for all work carried out .car is now 14 years old . i have put 2000km on it its entire aus life. i had a friend who lived in japan for 5 years , bought a mint gtir pulsar with plastic wrap still on the interior , all books , history . he put 5000km on it the whole time he was there , ask yourself where are you going to drive your car if you live in a huge japanese city ? your not going to have it as a daily to work and the shops i had a 96 r33 sedan in recently with 40000km on it , supplier thought it was one of the best he had seen , experienced nissan mechanic inspected it and could not find a single fault . the car was genuinely immaculate and underneath the car you could have eaten off it . every bush and boot was as new . the car was amazing , compression was perfect . possibly it had done 70-80,000 km but i have never ever seen a car in that sort of condition that had done 150,000km. so it does happen . under some circumstances some cars do very low km. get the car inspected by someone who knows skylines well . its very easy to tell the difference between a car with 49000 km and 149000 km . if condition is poor and km clearly do not match then take it up further . if condition is excellent be happy and move on

this is not an attack on brokers but the RAW and the broker have 2 different interests at heart its in the brokers interest to find you a car as quickly and efficiently as possible and make the most money for the shortest possible expenditure of time , effort and money its in the raws interest to comply the car as quickly and efficiently as possible and make the most money for the shortest possible expenditure of time , effort and money thats not to say either one doesn't care about both , but priorities are always slightly different a good example of this difference is I have a few trusted sources who have proven to be far superior than others so I use those primarily , because its in my interest as a RAW to have a car that has no problems , is able to be complied smoothly and efficiently and leave the customer happy and satisfied by the compliance process. If I was a broker it would be different as my primary goal is to find a car so the most sources available makes that process better. Thats not to say the broker doesn't care about the condition of the car as he wants happy customers too , but as you can see the priority placed on each task differs as each task and role is different.

What Are The Most Popular Immobilisers Here?

cyclops is not bad autowatch is better -
if you are ok with reasonably high km say 80-90k then you can land and comply for 40-50 but we just sourced a grade 5 with 17000km on it for a customer and that was a lot more still these cars are almost 10 years old now so 80,000 is average k's

Cars You Want, But Your Country Wont Import.
autoworx replied to Rabid's topic in General Automotive Discussion
apart from higher reciprocating mass and limited flexibility for valve and timing arangements such as variable valve timing and multiple valve configurations. its main advantage , smaller size , is not realy an issue in a smaller capacity forced induction or high output NA engine either
