  1. dude that is the hottest cima kit i have seen! also, has anyone had any luck getting the tv/nav working? I managed to install a kit that lets me watch dvds/av inputs while driving.. cheers, k
  2. Sweet.. did you have any particular wheels in mind? I'm still looking for the perfect set for mine.. the stock 16's are really awful.. Does anyone know who is working on the Fuga compliance.. the Cima is a great car but it's just a tad to big for me.. Fuga is a good size and similar interior space to the Cima and a few more toys too
  3. hey guys, i have the same phone connector in my car.. I went through the manual and it says that it is only compatible with au phones. For those who don't know au is a CMDA-1 phone network run by KDDI in Japan. There are quite a few phones designed for au by different manufacturers so I am assuming that all of these phones must have the same connector? Check the lineup here. There's a Sanyo phone there under global passport which is gsm and cdma so that should work.. But I really would prefer a phone adapter Just did a bit more digging... you basically need the reverse of this cable.. I actually have an adapter that does the same thing.. just need to reverse the flat connector
  4. hey dude after about 11 months of dealing with the stupid aus bureaucracy i finally took delivery of my 2004 Cima VIP on friday.. all i can say is it was worth the wait just when I thought it was all over the bloody rta want me to go for the bloody identity inspection even though the car was inspected by dotars last week... anyway, i had the chance to drive it down from the workshop down to the rta and what a great ride.. I was tossing up between the Cima and the v35 skyline but after seeing the cimas in japan i couldnt resist.. in terms of costs if you want to do it on the cheap you should be able to pick up a 2001 model on the road with everything for just under 35K... you are looking at 5K for compliance the only two places in aus that can do them are shogun in brisi and mobility engineering in syd.. i think theres a guy in perth who is trying to get compliance and has a few of them already but he wants to sell his own cars so he wont do byo compliance.. the really hard bit is finding one that has what you want as they come in so many variations and options if you wanna have a chat pm me and ill run you through all the specs and options.. cheers, k

  6. Haven't tried but have a look at instructions here
  7. Yes this is normal, its a safety/security feature on a lot of new jap and most european luxury cars which ensures that the window is sealed.. State roads don't know what they are talking about. Congrats on the purchase
  8. hey chris, no offence taken... I was just posting up info for those who might want to get it done there and also if you are going to spend that much money building a carpc or getting one built might be a better option especially in terms of scalability.. My car has video inputs in the car so I will probably stick to using them rather than fiddling with the stock setup.. have you had any experience with the $100 dvb-t boxes? They claim to get good reception even while driving...
  9. hey guys, I went over to check out the system that JapLink have got running.. the guy has managed to pass sound and video through to the main unit.. he is using an external gps unit which he claims is off the bmws but it looked like it was some cheap taiwanese rip i think it was called devtona or something.. tried googling but couldnt come up with anything.. the guy is charging $1800 for this setup! He has also managed to pass through a hdtv tuner box to the main unit which he is charging $900 for.. I'm looking at maybe putting together a carpc with a similar setup to this I've had a quick play with roadrunner and it looks pretty robust.. as for the gps im going to have a play with mapmonkey which can apparently display the AUS Destinator maps.. Has anyone tried setting up tv tuners in their cars? I am looking at a few hd car tuners on ebay going for about $100.. I wonder how good the reception is especially while in motion.. any ideas?
