Bogging Down For 3-5 Seconds On Downshifts Only
jet_r31 replied to rondofj's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I don't like it either, but its better then my wife having a accident from random stalling, and ive spent enough on a family car i now rarely even drive to get rid of afm.i didn't have stock airbox, i have a pod in a big airbox i made. I could get it not to stall through tuning but this is the thing. If youve never driven a stocky and drove it, you would think its ok, but after driving stockys you can tell the way it returns to idle and its general manners thats its not as nice. i shifted the afm and didn't tell wife, after 3 days she asked what i had done to car as it now drives so nice. i'll guess ill just have to make cleaning the afm meter another service job during oil changes. Seems to be more of a problem with autos. I even changed blow of valves, 2 stock ones, turbodumb one, then spring changes ffs. and those stupid turbodumb ones are meant for R33 rb25's, they are a different height to standard cheers darren -
Will 272/272 Cams Idle Different To 272/264
jet_r31 replied to GD51LA's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
well i hope they aint reverse staggered cams..f**k that cheers darren -
yeh i will, personally id weld a 11mm T4 open spacer to a stock manifold if it was mine, the T3 housing will be the killer, Should run 9's in a manual vl though once car and driver are up to spec. Just did 390rwkw with a t04Z/3540 1.06 T3 internal gate on 30psi and united 100 for reference, think it went 10.4 @ 134mph(manual) with that, although area under the curve is dismal with that big comp wheel driving that turbine, laggy POS hes gone E85 aswell now cheers darren

Bogging Down For 3-5 Seconds On Downshifts Only

Still doesnt work on some cars, scotts intake was no good on mine, no matter what i did it f**ked around, randomnly stalled, hiccups of decel ,tried everything, but even tuning around it was just covering up a polished turd. AFM now in cooler pipe, its a totally different car..autos are far worse for the problem though cheers darren -
my mate is after this type of setup atm, but due to no results atm, has gone for a Precision 6466 T3 .82 on a rb30 sohc low mounted./gate on stock manifold. cheers darren

I agree, Staos a legend really.with what he does, and the price of his product doesn't really reflect the manhours put into his product at all.. cheers darren

yep they do ben, pete gave me a base tune for 700cc injectors and 3076, started first go, cold start is good, i drove around on it for 2 weeks and didn't foul plugs, drove like stock and when we went to tune on the dyno it was all pretty sweet on light load stuff Was pretty happy with thers service. I got my map of another tune they did with a few tweaks (they do tune), and they tuned mine cheers darren

Ball Bearings For Turbo Where To Get
jet_r31 replied to joe blo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
why, why, why Ben..i wanted to see how it turned out..lol cheers darren -
I did ditch the BOV, i never run them on auto cars unless i have to, its not that loud, bit disappointed actually, i quite like the pigeons under the bonnet My Gt42 sounded awesome. cheers darren

I just drove my car home after finishing changing the turbo(and a million other things). Im liking this turbo whatever it its..lol, a SS3 with a paddle-steamer turbine..lol I only was game to run it up to 5psi without a afr meter, but its making boost by 2500rpm, super driveable at this stage, pulled up the hills in Drive no worries. So that was my only worry, and its all good.. Thanks to my mates Dream15 and 4bidn1 for the help! After changing piping, 2 blow off valves, changing tune and generally f**k arse arounding for a year, i finally put the AFM in the cooler pipe, now its sweet with returning to idle, should have done it ages ago.. cheers darren

This is correct, a more aggressive ramp rate on the lobe will do this, depends on motor to motor though, some you can have your cake and eat it to cheers 'darren

Dirty 25 Ideas Based On Oe Block Rods And Headz .
jet_r31 replied to discopotato03's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The Rb30 woudn't cost anymore..Only if its 4wd you have headaches...if your after a peak power you just have to remember that due to higher capacity there will be more backpressure and the turbo flow will be capped a bit with the turbo stuff thats smaller on the exhaust size. but midrange would be epic.. I thought with the thinnest headgasket comp ends up in the low 10's from memory. My mate built one a while ago for a customer cheers darrenr -
Dirty 25 Ideas Based On Oe Block Rods And Headz .
jet_r31 replied to discopotato03's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Ill take a stock bottom end rb30 with a Neo head on E85. Would have the fullest power curve and be the most fun. Can't say im a Rb25 fan at all woudn't waste my money on one unless i had to. cheers darren -
yeh right, i never realised that was kingsleys old car.The first 10 sec gtr in australia. It spent a lot of time in mt.gambier after he first sold it.kingsley was a Crazy bastard..lol cheers darren

yes it is definitly a relative term Lith. yeh the 68 turbine is a q trim wheel, looks like when they updated from the 65 to the 66, it probally made it a little redundant though maybe?. i was thinking in auto Rb30 terms., with the extra load a bigger turbine would keep the egt in check and make the motor a whole lot happier in the tune up ,the 6766 is no doubt always going to choke on a Rb30 in the turbine section and not the compressor side with 93lb of flow id guess. although some of the 2j supra results are outstanding.. Can't wait for this 6870 deal.. cheers darren
-
lol, im keen to try a 6766, but even with the modern tech, i have a funny feeling it wont outperform/or be as good as my old gt4294 setup have to wait for this 6870 maybe. Pity Pt wont make custom turbos a 6775 would work well... cheers darren

haha tripper...the scene has died everywhere, not just s.a qld/gold coast was out of control in the late 90;s early 2000s.., like adelaide in mid 90's or less, but thats all gone now aswell, so its not just s.a.. best bet now is just do some form of motorsport to get your fix cheers darren
-
the car scene really died in adelaide in the mid 90s...imports becoming popular in around 1999-2000 brought the scene back to life a little, but still nothing like the older days.. cheers darren

that kia must be a laugh to drive....throw some m/ts on the front and go down the princes highway on a friday night... cheers darren

Msd 6A + Blaster 2 Coil Advantage?
jet_r31 replied to Gareth87's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
whereas the ls coil thing is the trend atm..... the msd6a setup still punches well above it weight over the years , ,as proven on lots and lots of 9/10 sec vls, do whatever is easiest. I doubt you would blow out spark from either.. the ls coils setup is probally more reliable in the long run though. some people get a long run from the 6a's, some only get yrs cheers darren
