Rb30 Block Wanting 600 Safe Hp. What Do I Need
jet_r31 replied to ncrdbl's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
you'd put smaller cams in it for a start...272 and rbs are a good receipt for breaking shit, revs are not your friend, you want area under the curve..and lots of it for a streeter small cams/ stock intake runners/.decent comp 600hp is pretty much a stocky, built right and tuned well..the vl turbo guys have been doing it for a long time..since the mid to late 90's ..skyline guys just take no notice..lol and twin cams are far easier than a sohc head Just depends what you personally feel comfortable with doing and your budget cheers darren -
you would just get a a .82 housing of him, no need to get another turbo. cheers darren

S15 SR20, 250,000km old with full service history from older age owners, aust delivered. Standard motor headstuds and mls head gasket BC 264 vtc delete and valve springs, rocker stoppers 6 boost, 45mmex gate 1000cc inj walbro 460l E85 plus pre turbo water injection Hypergear Td06 20.5G 8cm T3 rear 19psi 314rwkw 23psi 366rwkw....power is still climbing..its just hitting the rev limiter Tried to turn it up at end of night...made 386rwkw...at 28.7psi...lol...at only 5800rpm....then started misfiring. Plugs where done and it was getting late in the night so we stopped for now..nice little turbo We used a china cast t3 mani before and 38mm ex gate...went from 314rwkw at 23psi to 314rwkw at 19psi from just those changes to 6boost and 45mm..and spooled 300rpm quicker To give you a idea how dyno reads, the best 0p6 hypergears hiflow skyline on 98oct has done 290rwkw at 19psi on this dyno, best skyline auto has done 260rwkw on 18psi on 98 oct Now its onto getting the atr45.5 test car up and running. cheers Jase and Darren

Yep Mike at MV autos in adelaide sell upgraded ones..stock ones are piss weak. And no you cant use the yella terra flexplate, i have one in my vl turbo, the Re stagea box and the vl style jatco flexplate are different, i know this as i had to change my r31 skyline Re box flexplate to a vl flexplate when i fitted a powerglide to my r31 10 yrs ago cheers darren

[Closed] Borg Warner Efr Series Turbos
jet_r31 replied to Lithium's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Id hazard a guess he'd just throw away old comp wheel and fit the ebay gtx style billet 11 blader that everybody uses? -
If you want ponnies. Its type b or nothing...type a would be a waste of money not big enough over standard. Dont expect a huge power gain. Lucky to do 10rwkw more up top. Id put headstuds on the list before all that anyway. Otherwise your on Borrowed time 260 ponnies lump nice if you want them tuned that way..can get a nice rump/rump/rump outta them..if thats what you want.. cheers darren

add 10 percent methanol.. cheers darren

.63 t3 housings make heaps on 4 cylinders(350+),much more than the little t2 housings ever will You havnt got no where near as much backpressure as a rb25. You could try the 20.5g he builds. Ss2 comp.l2 turbine 8cm housing. We have one on stock bottom end sr. Does 315rwkw atm on low 20s boost and e85. We used a china cast mani which had no boost control. Now gone 6boost and 45mm gate, trying to get it booked in for tuneatm and will be put "on kill" shortly.... Another guy in qld did 370rwkw on one on 27psi ish with a bit left in the tank so be interesting to see what it makes. We fitted a small water injection nozzle pre turbo this time aswell Have a atr45sat ss here aswell ..have joked about fitting that..lol Cheers Darren
-
a mild rb30 will do that..easy..even with a sohc head without a gtx cheers darren
-
youd be amazed how far a stock rb30 can go if your not a wimp...the main difference is the secondhand 2J hasn't done 200,000+km ... a refresh still on stock internaks and the gaps not as far as people think a 2j will still snap a rod with the current offering of midframe turbos on kill just as easy.. cheers darren
-
got a boost graph aswell?, is it on kill? power is shit if it is cheers darren
-
i will bet the last line you posted is correct aswell...those 1.06 housings are good for killing backpressure in bigger motors, like 4.0 barras. the turbine hardly flows any more on a 3.0 with one..and the lag sacrifice is ridicilous..fine if your auto..manual not so much cheers darren

Yeh.its a little turbine driving a big comp wheel.\ My mate has a 3582 on a vl in a 1.06 housing with that wheel. Makes 450rwkw through a loose converter on 30psi. Ran over 140mph.\ But his gate is plumbed back into restrictive 3 inch exhaust aswell. On 30psi it made no more boost..unplugged gate and went straight to 40psi and maxed fuel pumps out coming on Another has gone 145mph on 30-32psi with gates vented to atmo with that turbo The comp wheels a decent thing..needs a gt37 turbine ot similiar. Peformanz turbos in perth selll a turbo with that comp wheel in a 3582 core and gt37 turbine.. cheers darren
-
you talking about the 11 blade gtx style t04z wheel that every man and his dog is throwing into 3582's? cheers darren
-
6262, comes in a ford 1.06 in gate housing option ..which means a 6062 should fit aswell.... or people get them machined into the ford housing..so im guessing you could machine it into a .82 3582 in gate housing..? cheers darren
-
Yep i know this.. I also could work out pretty easy its not on kill..that turbo is a 61mm ish comp with a 64mm rear..it would want to have plenty left ex gated.. Cheers Darren
-
How much boost to make 330rwkw on the SR20VET stao?..im guessing not a lot..and theres a lot more left in it cheers darren

Latest Tune, Thoughts On Cooler Setup?

Its nothing like that stupid bend in the end tank in a "conventional" return flow cooler, your tripping..lol they can mention whatever they want.....but without testing it means nothing. cheers darren -
Latest Tune, Thoughts On Cooler Setup?
jet_r31 replied to CEF33Y's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Your return flow setup you had is nothing like what people are talking about in the hypergear thread cheers darren -
^^ Ill be interested in results, as we are doing same atm, going from gate on ex housing to the same havoc setup cheers darren

Pt make the numbers, but they seem to be pretty fussy with oil contamination or old motors compared to Garrett stuff . My mates 6466 leaks oil out the core..after 50km..he didnt fit a filter..as he doesnt ever listen.. Another guy i know went through 2 BB 6766's in quick succession, then fitted a filter and had no problem. Wasnt a old motor.either. Both rb30s. Bad luck..dont know.. Would i buy a pt ..yeh (and have done and will again when 6870 t3 comes out) , would I ever fit one without a filter, nope , thats for sure. cheers darren
-
you'd want to put a a filter on the feed line...they are more fragile than a garrett.. cheers darren
