he is talking about a solid or semisolid gearbox mount -
Rb20det Forward Facing Plenum
Proximity Motorsport replied to Proximity Motorsport's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
obviously shorter piping is going to meen less lag. Hence why wrx has a top mount... or mad drifters have v mount... less piping meens more response... anyways......... I dont know if the greddy plenum is forward facing or not. I have found a few but there is a pic... it looks forward facing but it sais we have these to suit... rb25, rb20, sr20, etc... so i dont know if it might be a sr20 one or what in the picture. -
Installing Tein Coilovers
Proximity Motorsport replied to R33GTST4Door's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
not inside the shocks but ontop of the shocks. There are just little black boxes u put on each corner. all it does is spin a little knob ontop of your coilover. So what... id rather get out and adjust it then spend $600 plus install to have a fancy pants in cabin adjuster. Takes litterly 10 seconds to adjust them. -
thats a phat 33. I dont like 33s but dayum u did a nice job with this and i like i like. That front bar is tough. MAAAAD fmic

septone ali-brite i think thats what its called. Its pink. Like $15 for a 1L bottle i think. Get it from supercheap or any paint store even. Wet tyres... pour some ali-brite into a container and use a small brush... like a dustpan brush and dip it then scrub your wheels... then hose it off. It worked wonders on my old rays i had. They are a 1991 wheel. And they were haggered. I got them shiny as with alibrite

Rb20det Forward Facing Plenum
Proximity Motorsport replied to Proximity Motorsport's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
also forgot to mention it has a walbro pump and fuel pressure regulator. All of which were on the car when i got it. Yeah that might be true but it will help a bit and when i put everything on... i want it done properly the first time round. Dont wanna slap on a cheap kit then want something better later down track.. if you know wat i mean. -
Hey, I want to put a FMIC on my car... 1989 R32 4 door with RB20det. Mods are 3" turboback exhuast with 2.5" split dump, turbo smart bleed valve, and a rebuilt highflow rb20det turbo.. think its rated 450hp. ATM i am running below stock boost as i dont have a boost gauge... Need to see how my mates justjap gauges look cause i cant justify $1000 on gauges for defi. Anyways what i want to know is with the forward facing plenum i know the throttle cable will have to be shortened / lenghened. I was also thinking about getting a new throttle body.... would i need managemnt for this or it should be ok without it. Im guessing it is s my brothers s14 has a bored throttle with no management. Anyways i have a hybrid core at home i got for free... vgc. I was thinking custom piping so i wanted the forward facing plenum to help reduce the pipe lengh to reduce lag with that turbo. It doesnt start really getting into it till around 4500rpm. So question is what else will i have to do to all the hoses and stuff that go into my stock plenum. Can someone please post pics of their forward facing plenums, or brands of recommended plenums. thanks

i thought there was a thread for this but i cant find it. Anyways if someone could please translate this for me it would be much appreciated. thanks

i sent mine to fulcrum... they oxyd off old ones and replaced them lol. Befor i sent them though i got one loose... i used wire brush to clean and then penetrene the shit out of them. Try wire brush... that will get all the shit off... then penetrene will clean under them. Just dont go moving it if its dirty cause it will cease even worse.

Hey, I wanted to get some touchup paint for my car... 1989 R32 GTS-T TypeM. Nissan fast... and my vin plate both say colour is KH6 but i rang nissan and though ill double check... he couldnt tell me.. So i looked at the thread in here and KH6 is a Dec 1989 Laurel colour.. no skylines have that colour... And it just sais plain old white as the colour but my car is Pearl White.... its kinda a cremey colour and it has like glitter through it in the sun. Another thread i have read said that colour code was Creme and found on r33 skylines... Dammit im so confused... i rang Russco in Mackay to get a colour match and he is out of business so im really stuck. I was hoping autobahn could help me but dam if noone else can get it right i doubt they can? Anyone got some ideas.

Scrubbing Bad?
Proximity Motorsport replied to Fujiwara's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
where does it scrub?? Front.. Rear... on gaurd... on coilover. Like i said in your other thread do not get new suspension as ythis owuld not be the problem. Try maybe wheel spacers if its scrubbing on the inside... and if its scrubbing on the outside try more negative camber. Scrubbing... if nots not too bad and not on a sharp object wont do much to your car. Another option would be get 215/35 tyres on front if its the front thats scrubbing. -
Choosing Suspension
Proximity Motorsport replied to Fujiwara's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
no it wouldnt. As with a lock bar you screw the tie rods into it and instead of the center being the hicas unit its a solid bar that wont move.. im sure you have seen them. Subframe bushes are for the rear... aso known as pineapples. They make your whole rear subframe tight so it doesnt have movement. when you think about it... the upper arm and lower arm both hold the wheel.... the longer the lowe arm is the more it pushes out on the bottom of your tyre... therefore giving you more negative camber.... The shorter the upper arm is the more it will pull your tyre in at the top... giving you more negative camber... either way works but most people go for upper arms as they are cheaper and easier to source. Try whiteline for the bushes if you want out cheap. Or if you want to spen $400 or so get the whole replacement arm... gives you more adjustment too. They can be bought from www.JustJap.com ... they are the cheapest i know of.. And as for your tyres scrubbing?? What do they scrub?? I doubt changing suspension will help in this area... save your money and buy adjuswtable upper rear arms and front upper arms for camber and a set of castor rods. JustJap have all of these items for fairly good prices. Then you will have a very good setup. -
Flywheel Advantages?
Proximity Motorsport replied to MR R34's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
also depends what you want the car for. Some like the lightweight one that will rev good... but it does lose some power from revving so easily as there is no momentum behind the flywheel, if you have a dogbox or a very heavy clutch might also be better to get a chromolly flywheel that is heavier for the added strengh ALSO... if you are replacing the clutch too might be best to get a flywheel clutch combo cause different compound clutches n flywheels will make it slip or chatter. Big writeup a few issues ago in HPI -
3 Piece Wheel Dis Assembly
Proximity Motorsport replied to rinmak's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
well yes, yes you do. Just like anything you will need to tighten them in a star sort of pattern.. N,S E,W, NE, SW, NW, SE etc till they are all done up and you will need to set them to the right torque. Also if you take the bolts out you would probably need to replace them as alot of high strengh things like that need replacing once removed as it caused a very larger stress on them. Call the manufacturer and ask for their price.... or... sticky tape mate. -
Tein Type Flex
Proximity Motorsport replied to nizmo_freek's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
i dont know how much tein flex are worth but i had super streets in my s13 and they didnt go too low at all. I have HA's in my r32 now and they go lower but not that low still. My brother has super streets in his s14a but he bought them from fulcrum and befor they even sent them they stripped them down, put on metal camber adjustable tops, scrapped the 5kg,6kg springs and got f8kg and r6kg springs and cut them (properly of course) and revalved it to suit the shorter stiffer springs. Needless to say after the dyno and all they cost him $2600 and they are the nicest coilovers i have felt out of any tien/hks etc. How ever HKS also go very low. My opinion... id rather spend $1500 on HSD type R which have metal tops, full hieght and damper adjust, never heard a thing wrong and apparently they go very low. Then you have $1000 to buy the sway bars and front and rear camber kit... then you will handle even better than what an expensive set of coilovers will give. Personally i think HSDs are a good coilover -
