Wheels And Car Parts Cheap!
Simmo1985 replied to GuestyR33's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Damn those rims look tough. Would love to see what they'd look like on my Silver S2!! Pity you're in Melbourne. -
Would've been some drunk bogan walking home.. That blows.. hope I don't ever have to go through that. Was it just the window that was damaged? If so just be thankful you don't have to get any panels repaired / resprayed.

Looking To Buy! Need Advice
Simmo1985 replied to joeleo87's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
On your budget I'd probably try and aim for a late model schmick R32. The cheaper R33's are usually cheap for a reason. Depends what you want though.. the R32 and R33 are good for different things. -
Note to self... make my engine bay look that good one day. Lol. Looks great!

I'm pretty sure a lot of people have had success with using a R34 GTT SMIC on RB20's. Or was that on RB25's? Not sure, was reading it a while ago. You can pick up an R34 GTT SMIC for like $200 and will cost a lot less to fit as it will sit in the same position as your current one, piping should be very similar. Do a search, might be worth looking into if you don't wanna go down the FMIC road. You'll have to upgrade your current intercooler regardless I'd say, either the FMIC or R34 SMIC would be good options I'd say. Also - check out JustJap trader section on this forum for good prices on dump/hi-flow cats. Check out Slide for cheap walbro fuel pumps.
-
I've just bought a new Walbro fuel pump from Slide, should be here on Monday. I opted for the Walbro because I'm only aiming for around 200rwkw.
-
I probably could of got them machined, but figured I may as well just upgrade as I was going to eventually anyway. I'm not getting any vibration (not yet anyway), only squealing. Why do you say pad problem as well? Brake pads are less than 2 weeks old? Time will tell I guess! I'll invest in some anti-squeal stuff before replacing pads, see how that goes.

Damn.. wish I saw this ad last week haha. Ah well.

Like so many others have said - remove spoiler and burn it in a fire. Spoiler-less would look hawt. Sweet looking ride imo, only thing holding it back for me is that huge wing.

Slideways are selling Walbro 255l/phr fuel pumps for $160 delivered. Pretty good price. I paid yesterday and they've already PM'd today saying that the funds have been received and the items being sent via express post. Depending on what type of power you're aiming to make some people will tell you to avoid the Walbro's though because apparently they don't have as high of a pressure output as the Bosch fuel pumps. Can get the Bosh 040 / 044's from eBay (and probably on here) for around $240 I think. Apparently they make more noise than the Walbros and are an external pump.. someone with more knowledge can confirm.

x2 - best advice so far imo. However, if your old man is as stubborn as mine was when I was a wee lad then there's a good chance that even this wont help.

My current rotors have sort of got circular lines running around them.. they feel bumpy when running my finger up and down. The front break pads are new Lucas's, they were put on during the RWC before I bought the car - so it may well be the pads. I will be replacing the pads if the problem does not go away after installing the rotors.

Premium Vs Regular Unleaded
Simmo1985 replied to SKYL1N's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I only ever run BP Ultimate. I've found it to be the best fuel for me.. Never really tried Shell optimax though. Previous owner used to use Caltex Vortex - he filled up my car with it prior to handing it over, car would ping occasionally at higher revs. BP Ultimate has not done this. -
Can't wait for my RDA's to arrive!! Will finally be able to break without my rotors squealing. Thanks rs73.

Good Workshop To Change Clutch At South Brissy
Simmo1985 replied to Black Ninja's topic in Queensland
Don't mean to hijack but couldn't justify making my own thread to ask this. Where should I get my FMIC installed (Brisbane - southside preferrably)? And how much would this cost? I've also got an exhaust I want to get installed which I was going to get done at Right Price Exhausts (got my WRX exhaust done there and they did a good enough job / price). I'd consider getting it done at the same place as my FMIC though to save some dollars. Although - how hard would it be to do it myself? Worth doing to save the $$$? Thanks. -
GTAIV won't be coming out til like March next year I heard. Can't wait for Mass Effect and Army of Two though. Also just saw a trailer for "Mafia 2" for 360. Looks sweeeeet... http://www.spikedhumor.com/articles/123821...ut_Trailer.html

Simple 02 Sensor And Boost Gauge Questions
Simmo1985 replied to r32rb20detgtstQLD's topic in General Maintenance
I did my O2 sensor on the weekend and I'm not really mechanically minded at all. If you've got a nissan replacement one than it'd be easy as. Mine came with no plug, had to re-wire mine into the wires from the old O2 sensors plug which wasn't overly hard.. took about an hour or so. -
I have a 97 R33 with 60,000klms on the dash. Occasionally after starting my car it will splutter around a bit before idling correctly or stall completely if I do not rev it for a little while. This mostly occurs first thing in the morning but has occured on other occasions during the day after re-starting my car even as soon as 10 minutes after stopping it. Also while driving I will get occasional popping/misfiring noises from the exhaust, mostly on gear changes (more so changing up). These seem to be more noticeable after booting it. I purchased the car only a week ago and I'm slowly working my way through some general maintenance related which is working out more expensive than I expected, front rotors are stuffed - ah well, RDA groupbuy time lol. Replaced the O2 sensor, which although has helped fuel economy quite well has not fixed this problem. I think the problem is something to do with the spark plugs/coils. The seller told me he installed platinum plugs at 40,000klms. After a few searches it seems that everyone on here is not a fan of the platinums. I'll replace them with some copper spark plugs tomorrow afternoon to start with. What size gap / type do I want to get (pod filter, cat back exhaust)? I'm guessing trying 1.0mm would be a good idea? If the problem's still there I'll most likely be getting some splitfires. Is there anything else I should try before that step? Would spark plug leads cause this occasional problem? What's the average life on a set of splitfire coils?

Which Type Of Redline Oil To Use?
Simmo1985 replied to Simmo1985's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
After much reading I'm going to go for the Motul 300. Thanks anyway. -
I'm going to be changing my gearbox and diff oil this weekend and I've read really good things about Redline Shockproof. What type do I want to get for my gearbox and diff? Heavy or Lightweight? I got quoted $115 for a 3.8 litre bottle from "Performance Wholesale" at Slacks Creek (Brisbane). Does this sound right? Will this be all I need? I read somewhere that the gearbox takes 2.4 litres and the diff takes 1.4 so it should work out ok. Can anyone confirm?

@SLIPPERY: When I was looking at exhausts for my WRX I was told that a lot weren't interchangeable. Wasn't sure if this would be the case with the HKS.
-
Thanks for the replies. Looking at the Just Jap website, would this combo be a good option to use with my current HKS Catback. JJR Split Dump & Front Pipe - Nissan Skyline R33 GTS-T Price: $269 High Flow Design - 3 inch Stainless Steel X-Force 3 Inch High Flow Cat - Nissan Skyline R33 Price: $199 Flanged - Flows up to 570 CFM Would such a system be legal - db wise?
-
Hi all, I've got a R33 S2 and I'm looking to upgrade my exhaust to either a 3" or 3.5" turbo back exhaust. I've apparently already got a HKS cat back exhaust, not 100% sure on size however. (only got the car Monday night). What's my best bet? Should I just go to an exhaust shop and see what they can do for me? Should I keep the HKS catback and mix in other parts or would it be better to order a certain full TBE package from somewhere? I'm happy to support SAU suppliers if this is the case. I'm in Brisbane if that helps.

Wow, you did 15,000klms in 2 and a half weeks? Seeing as driving the car stresses ya, the past few weeks must have been pretty stressful!! Hehe. That's a huge price drop though. Good luck with sale.
