Woohoo, tonights rain seems to have cleaned the dirt off my car haha. Hopefully anyway, guess I wont know til it's dry, but can't be as bad as it was today.

Anyone's elses car now coated in a layer of orange dirt since yesterday's rain? Only washed it on Thurs night ... first I had the birds sitting on my car and crapping on it (nextdoor neighbour has a bird bath right near our fence), now this.. yay. Was pretty funny seeing all the orange coloured cars driving around this morning though hah. Can tell whos car was garaged and whos wasn't.

Would a leaking plenum cause any other problems? Just trying to figure out if that is in fact the problem, because the car drives perfectly normal otherwise.

Three years warranty is good, but I'd be reading the fine print on that. Might say if you change anything the warranty is void etc. For example. if you put a boost controller on and the gearbox or engine blows up you'll be up sh*t creek because they could claim your new mod caused additional strain etc. Always have to be suss on car dealers and their warranties. Seriously though, I'd be buying privately.. so many cheap Skylines out there at the moment. Get on Carsales and have a look. Just be patient, it's so hard to do - but will be worth it in the end. Remember to factor in the price of a decent car alarm/immobiliser (if the car doesn't already have in).

I can hear a sucking or hissing type sound coming from my plenum at the moment. Didn't know what it was though, just thought it may have been normal. Guess my plenum is leaking then?

I've got my turbotech boost controller set to 10psi, and it worked great for about a week. Now when accelerating past 4,500rpm boost drops noticeably to about 5psi (although the gauge shows 5psi it doesn't even feel like it's making that much boost). It's a really noticeable drop off in power. I took it to the mechanics the other week and wouldn't you know it, the car worked fine when I was there.. but the problem is back now. Any suggestions of where to look? Will it just be a leak in the vacuum line? Problems driving me nuts.. boost seems to work and pull fine prior to hitting those higher revs, like the additional pressure is causing a leak???

The question I'd be asking is why has he replaced the standard steering wheel that contains an airbag? You'd have to be pretty stupid to do that in my opinion, unless it was in an accident and you didn't want to pay for a replacement airbag/steering wheel.

When was the last time you changed your spark plugs? Look at replacing them first if they're old. Then I would recommend changing your O2 sensor if you've never done it (fuel filter couldn't hurt either). Should only cost ya about $110ish. I used to have some slight popping whilst driving around. After changing those two things it no longer does it, and now I get much better fuel economy. win win. If you still have problems then start looking at coilpacks and spark plugs gapping.

As far as I'm aware all modded Xbox's are banned from Xbox live. The online systems communicate with the machine to see if the firmware's modified or something. All new games are brought out with hidden patches on them too that detects if the system is modded.. so any "new" modified firmware that gets onto Xbox live will eventually not work.

Gears Go Into Neutral Without Clutch Help...?
Simmo1985 replied to voox's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I had Nissan Pulsar Q (the SR20 model) and it would always pop out of 5th gear. The box wasn't f**ked, had to replace something though that cost about $300 from memory.. have no idea what it was, going back a few years now when I had little interest in cars. If yours is doing it in all gears though you could be in trouble. Where'd you get the box from? I'd say give a mechanic a call. -
Firstly, I'd try to not crash. Secondly, if you do mangle your car - how the hell are they going to know your exhaust is too loud?

A list of your mods might help mate.

I'd be checking eBay. I miss my old Sega dreamcast ... such an awesome console.

My car was doing this too. I took it to the mechanic this morning, mechanic took it for a drive.. comes back and asks me to go with him.. wouldn't you fkn know it - the car isn't doing it anymore.. I left the mechanics this morning without paying anything, although I think I would rather had to have paid for something broken instead of asking them to look at a car with nothing wrong with it.. lol. Ah well..

Nice car and rims. Good luck with the sale.

Mak 18inch Rims Qld - Sunshine Coast
Simmo1985 replied to C_I_V_I_C's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Hey mate, might be interested.. no gutter rash on any of the rims? Will get back to you in a week or so. -
I tried this tonight without luck.. stupid squeak!!! Definitely coming from underneath the car.. I put a reasonable amount of grease up into that sucker too.. sigh...

Hopefully it's something as simple as a lose or split hose somewhere.. Good old Skylines and there common problems... I had an 03 WRX for 8 months without a single problem before switching to my Skyline, had it three weeks and already had a few problems with it.. Although if I had to pick between the two I'd still choose the Skyline!
-
I got the same problem as this too (just posted in your squeaky clutch post coz I had that problem too haha). Will be interesting to see what people suggest. Wouldn't think rust holes would be effecting boost.

Apparently if you get some grease on the pivot ball this will fix the problem. I've got the same problem on my R33, going to put some grease on it tomorrow night. Read here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/t118831.html

I've read another thread where somewhere switched to a bellmouth and still had problems though.. so it may not be that simple. Good thing to try I guess though if you can source a bell mouth easy enough.

Who Still Uses A Mouse With A Ball In It?
Simmo1985 replied to Swiper the Fox's topic in PC & Games Discussion
Wait.. you do it on purpose? Hehe.. YES. YES IT IS. Depends what you use your computer for, but I'd upgrade.. cant stand old ball mice.. -
F**ken low lives... Hopefully karma comes to them in the form of a big black man named bubba in prison. Sorry to hear the bad news mate! Hope your car's ok and you and your mate get over the whole ordeal.

That's what I thought at first too. But the fact that my problem was fixed just by simply changing some lines around gotme stumped. Worked great for a week, but now got boost leakage.. *sigh* The battle continues..

I've pretty much got the same problem as you and we've got very similar setups. I'm using the turbotech boost controller still. Is that a Just Jap split dump? Looks like mine. I did most of my mods around the same time, FMIC, JJR split dump and turbotech b/c. I fixed my problem for a little while. I had to bypass the charcoal canister (just disconnect the hose that runs from it up to the T piece). Then connect the line running to the inlet manifold in the boost controller directly. (my FMIC did not have a nipple). After doing that the car held boost perfectly, fixed the TT controller to 10psi and it held it like an absolute champion all the way to redline. Unfortunately now (a week later), for some reason my boost is dropping off in the higher revs, suspect it's a leak problem but can't for the life of my figure out where. Any idea what else could cause that? Wastegate not opening or becoming stuck open or something? I want to get it all sorted out in the next week or so, don't like running the car without the charcoal canister hooked up, don't wanna get defected. Might have to go for a trip to the mechanics.
