The front end is now welded off and looking very strong.

We are still putting in lots of hours on Mark's R35 GTR build. More chassis bracing, weight reduction, more power.....its getting meaner than ever!! I am sure he will post up some more pics soon.

Car is due to hit the track again on wednesday for some further testing. Nothing too major being changed, just more development with suspension and aerodynamic improvements.

We are trying to put a plan together to have 10 Mercury cars come down, including Mark's R35 Time attack car.

Maybe without the engine in it?

2 workshops within 100m of each other, build two of the best R35 GTRs in the country, then travel over 1000km's to thrash them for 3 days non-stop, against each other and the best time attack cars in the world. LOVING LIFE!!!

This year was meant to be in Open class, with the focus being 2012. It was my push to make the step up earlier, hence the inclusion of Tarzan Yamada as a hired driver. It will be great experience for Mark this year, amazing learning for us as a team, but yeah 2012 has always been the focus. Hell, we weren't even sure if we could get the build done in time for this year!

I would pay good money for it to do a flat 30! Might be necking myself if it does a flat 40!!!

Being Brisbane based, it is hard to travel interstate to track days, especially as Mark (the owner of the car), is VERY busy professionally and has 3 kids to boot. I think we were lucky to get him out of Brisbane for WTAC!

Its very hard to have expectations, but we would like to be sub 1:33's but we have zero experience at EC with this car. I guess that is half the fun!

It is actually the only way the car will fit!! It is too wide at the front to get onto the trailer. With all of the tools/gear loaded onto the trailer and with the rear mounted gearbox, the trailer is very well balanced in this configuration.

That would be my ultimate car!

We have only spent 4 months on the car, used over 1200 man hours and many many late nights and weekends to get the car to where it is now. I think the whole Mercury Motorsport team is looking forward to WTAC, so we can have a break from working on Mark's R35! It has been a massive effort and I am extremely proud of the team, including our external contractors, who have pulled of what I think is an amazing build in such a short period of time.

Looks like we might be building on of these (alpha 12 kit + built engine) for a customer. Wants 1000+hp on a dyno dynamics from his R35 GTR.

Sooooo much to do to finish off the car. Made a LONG list today of odds and ends so it looks like another big week at the workshop before we leave on wednesday morning. Thanks to all the people who came out to the track over the last few days to check the car out and say hi. Looking forward to seeing the car painted, stickered, and ready to kick ass at WTAC!!

Anyone else notice that it hits 242km/h on the straight!
