  1. My uncle just got his 300zx after waiting many months (i think it missed 2 boats) and then driving it back from freo he realises it's blowing clouds of blue smoke!!! If a car has sat for 6 months without being turned over or cared for, is it likely that the oil seals will have perished so that the first time it's given a decent drive they go pop?
  2. yeah thanks, I tried jash but he sold all of his pretty quickly, sourced one from a wreckers for $330 though, bit bloody pricey.
  3. $450, ouch, I've had a couple of PMs from guys over east, one was $120, the other $200, plus freight...but I have trust issues
  4. Anyone know where I can source a drivers side window for a series 1 R33 gtst? Some f'turd smashed it and stole my radar detector, called RAC and they said it would be cheaper just to get it fixed myself, $550 excess, then called O'Brians but they don't have one. Any suggestions? (except "Don't leave your radar thingo stuck to the windscreen while parked" :slap: )
  5. I'm after the drivers side window, glass only, for an R33 gtst, in WA. Called O'Brians but they don't have any, alternate source suggestions appreciated. Farkers stole my radar detector damn, I'll have to slow down somewhat.
  6. ummm...I think it's on at 6:30pm Perth time (like 5 minutes from now), at least that's what the Fox channel information is saying.
  7. Sounds like you can official take the "A very slow car" bit out of your info below the avatar
  8. my right headlight is out also at the moment. my left one blew last year, just the bulb so I'm assuming it's just the right bulb this time too.
  9. I've never heard this one before! are you sure about this Troy? and do you need to be doing exactly 80km/hr?
  10. hehe...chrome it, then you could put a little enscribbed plaque on and say "it IS the trophy" "you should see the car that won it"
  11. got it out finally, had to hammer a nice new 14mm spanner, I was waiting for it to shear off but it was ok, eventually budged it.
  12. well...all was going well, changed oil and filter, too her for a spin prior to putting the front bar back on just to make sure there were no leaks...all good...got her back up on the ramps, reattached the undertray, refitted the front bar...then proceeded to nearly tear the front bumper off as I reversed off the ramps, I completely forgot the reason I had the front bar off in the first place, it won't clear the ramps. BUGGER! no serious damage, couple of broken fittings and a couple of the anchor points on the bar are split or stretched. IDIOT!
  13. doh! now you tell me j/k
  14. thanks, got it out. smacked it with a hammer, tried it with the new 14mm spanner...eventually I was heaving on the spanner and smacking the spanner with the hammer at the same time andit started coming loose. I was just waiting for it to shear but it didn't, and there was a paper thin copper washer on it too. thanks, moderators can feel free to delete this thread now that I'm finished asking stupid questions
  15. do you hink it would help if I ran the engine till the sump was fully warm/hot? or would that make it worse?
  16. what did you do with the sheared off plug? (now your scaring me)
  17. I'm going anti-clockwise while lying on my back so...i think thats right!
  18. yes, well I don't actually own a 14mm spanner, I was hoping the socket and/or shifter would do the job, call it lack of foresight, if I can't get it off I'll be walking up to the local autoparts shop and buying a really tough spanner .
  19. any mechanically minded people know how to get a stuck sump plug out?
  20. God DAMMIT!!! I'm trying to change my oil and I can't get the F'in sump plug out, here doesn't appear to be a washer in there. WTF?! So far I've already snapped one socket extension, rounded one set of corners on the plug and emptied half a can of WD40 on it. Does anyone have any handy tricks for getting these suckers off? Please help...loosing it. I've already posted this in Maintenance but thought someone local may have an idea.

  22. I just had FM901s fitted today, feels great, very sticky, my rears are 255/40/17 and cost $350 each, not cheap but it feels like they are worth it.
  23. My rears have worn badly on the inside and I've just ordered a nice new set of FM901s so wanted to fix this before I wreck another set of tyres. For anyone who is interested I just recieved a quote for the supply and fit of a rear camber kit (includes all 4 wheel alignment), price = $360. Does this price sound about right?
  24. the filter # is 145A for an R33 GTSt, don't know if it's the same for an R32 though.
  25. int21h, I think the genuine nissan oil filter is actually cheaper than the RYCO 145A, and genuine is probably the best suited.
