That's a huge amount of money to spend to get a car over the pits without spending on handling/safety modifications.. seems like the point of actually getting a vehicle road worthy has been lost in the political legislation jungle.. flawed system indeed.

Direction Of The Speeding Vehicle On The Photo Evidence.
bryno replied to Luk's topic in Western Australia
Re two direction use of the cameras.. I stopped and questioned an operator late last year after we were flashed.. He said the cameras were capable of reading the speed of traffic (and capable of photographing both directions) if they were set up properly on the right angle on particular roads that allowed it. He was a pro and mentioned he could always set his camera up this way, so it's worth being aware that you can still get done whilst traveling in the opposite direction by nice guys that believe in infringement equality. also, don't speed, pay up. -

Guilt-toy In Georgia (former Soviet Union)
bryno replied to Swiper the Fox's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Are there any rules associated with what types of cars you can import and register? Or is it just find a car that starts. Given the story about the cops, sounds like it's a drivers paradise.. or they've never seen a skyline and haven't had time to work out how to make money from burnouts. -

Exhaust leak from the exhaust manifold to turbo maybe? What point was the exhaust removed from? Make sure all the bolts/nuts are there and tight.. might need to replace gaskets.

Depends where you stay and if you want a luxury-spec holiday.. Can get flights to Tokyo return for around $950-$1400, flights to Sapporo for a few hundred again. Bus to Niseko from the airport about $70. Accommodation can be had for around $100-$150 a night p/p for a self contained apartment with 4 people (fairly good apartment). Ski passes around $60 per day depending on exchange rate. Last season (this year) the exchange rate was terrible so living expenses were a hell of a lot higher for people from Aus, but the year before the rate was around 100Y/1AUD so everything was very affordable. Meals for around $10-$20. Really dependant on the exchange rate obviously and haven't really compared closely with NZ but hope that helps a bit...

Thanks for the info people. Hakuba is definitely tempting but I didn't really mind the crowds at Niseko.. was no where near as bad as a season in Canada so on the odd chance we had to wait a couple of mins for a lift it didn't really bother us. Then again, nothing like being able to jump straight back on a lift without waiting. I'd heard differently about the ski patrol in Hakuba.. apparently really strict.. for good reason though I guess if there is a high avalanche risk. Pretty happy with normal back country stuff though without having to duck ropes, haven't done any avalanche courses or anything so I'd probably die. Good to hear there is a Lawsons there though.. their crispy chicken is so damn good haha That icon 6 video looks mad.. If we had more time, money and could actually speak more japanese than asking 'whats your phone number' then a road trip would be amazing. I might send you a pm though Mark, wouldn't mind finding out about a couple of other places.

Hey people, Understand this is a car forum.. but I know a lot of people head over to Japan (or live there) and try to get some snow with their car fix, so I'm looking for some opinions if possible. I went to Niseko / Hirafu for a week or so during the 08 season for snowboarding, and will be heading back to Japan again for the 2010 snow season. Has any one been to both Hakuba and Niseko and/or can offer some insight in to which would be good to visit towards the end of January? So far I've found that people have said Hakuba is warmer, has less powder and is occasionally icey, whereas Niseko (and from past experience) was pretty bloody crazy powder wise but visibility and weather were pretty average some days. At the moment I'm pretty set on heading back to Niseko just for the awesome snow, but if any one can offer any reason to go to Hakuba over Niseko then I'd love to hear it. Night life isn't a huge deal, would be cool to head out one or two nights I guess but it's not the reason we're going. If any one knows of any semi decent apartment style accommodation for 4/5 people that doesn't break the bank that'd be awesome too! Main reason I want to head there during Jan is for the TAS as well (token car reference). Cheers

How Would You Build A Street Sleeper?
bryno replied to R33_Dude's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Old school Audi gets my seal of win.. Audi 80 or S2 General lee audi for example.. Simple rule with a good sleeper though.. probably doesn't matter how they look because people won't be able to get a good enough look in time any way. -

Are you saying you'd remove the current plastic lense and replace it with a new mould? That'd still involve taking it apart, so perhaps you could try cleaning the inside of the current lense with a cut and polish and resealing it (stuffed seal is probably the problem any way) before you go and try recreating everything. I think you'd get close to the cost of new genuine lights having to design and fab new stuff. Also don't think you'd get any where near good enough quality and/or replication of the genuine items.
