Cheers guys, thanks for your input Looking forward to getting it done!!!!
-
Cool, thats fair enough though as long as it is not an exorbitant increase and there is appropriate justification. I would imagine a remap and a tune would be different for each car, so it could take longer I suppose.....
-
Yeah, I did notice that thread but it is about 12 months old and I am mainly referring to their remapping skills with the Nistune Rom and general workmanship.
-
I was just wondering what everyones general opinion of Hyperdrive was? Has anyone had any good/bad experiences at all? I am going to get a remap and tune with the Nistune product and I want to make sure that they know what they are doing..... So I guess more specifically, has anyone had their Skyline remapped and tuned at Hyperdrive and were you happy with it? Cheers!

Sweet man, let us know how it goes. I am trying to find a good mechanic to do my 100k service..... Kinda don't trust my car to anyone
-
LOL, thats pretty cool besides the absolute wank factor
-
hmmm....you have got me itching to whack it on now I think i would appreciate it more if i put it on and do a full tune with the injectors and fuel pump..
-
Also, whats the number of that place? I can't seem to find anything in the white and yellow pages.
-
Thats a really good price...... Does that include the timing belt being replaced as well as the idler and tensioner pulleys?!? Cause they can add about 300 bucks to the bill if they need to be replaced....and then there is the water pump... I have been quoted around $1000 if you want everything to be done... On that note, does anyone recommend a good workshop to go a full 100 k service on a '92 R32 GTS-T??

I am about to put in a RB25 turbo from an R34 on to my RB20, and I was advised to get it tuned straight away as it will throw out all the air to fuel ratios...... If you boost the RB25 turbo to 12-14 psi, i would be a little concerned about it leaning out......

Hmmm i dont get it.... How do we become a member? I have signed up but i don't see anywhere to become an actual SAUWA member.....

Man thats sucks I got my car badged and that pissed me off enough, i can't imagine how angry i would be if someone did some real damage to my car.... I spose there is not much that can be done if its a daily, just gotta park it and hope for the best

I am running iridiums in my RB20 and was having no problems till I upped the boost to about 12-14 psi It then started misfiring at high RPM. Took em out and they were gapped to 1.1mm, so reduced the gap to 0.8mm and have had not a problem since. The car runs great now.

Profec B Spec-ii Setup And Tuning (help!)
Douse replied to damuscat's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I would turn down your SET to something a little lower and and go for a few laps and then gradually turn it up until you reach the boost you require. Turn your GAIN all the way down to 5% for the time being.... Mine SET is at 50% to 55% depending on the weather, but yours may be different to reach your desired boost.... -
Slightly off topic, just got a query about the Toshi remap. Is a Nistune ROM and remap essentially the same thing? Hyperdrive in W.A say they can remap it and tune it for $800. Is that reasonable? Also, i have heard that remaps are better then a SAFC and tune, but i have nothing to base that on.....

Hmm i might start increasing the SET GAIN on mine then..... Maybe thats why it takes a little to reach full boost... -

There shouldn't be any difference when it comes to boost levels. The power will be different of course due to a larger turbo on the RB25, but basic settings should be the same. If you have a series 1 R33 with a steel compressor wheel it may be a little laggy so increasing the SET GAIN should allow the boost to come on quicker, but once again i am no expert and i have a R32 so i am only going by what i have read -

Since it has gotten colder i have dropped it down to about 50%ish as it has been hitting 1 bar a bit more frequently -

Yeah I am fairly certain that the SET GAIN is too high which is causing your issue. Your setup seems correct, I also have a blocked off pipe which appears to be in the same location. It was blocked when i got my car, so the previous owner in Japan must have had an EBC in it, but removed it. I am at work atm, so i will have a look in a bit and let you know... -

According to your settings you have the SET GAIN set to 100 right? Does this mean 10 psi? If this is the case, then this is your problem. You want to set the SET GAIN to 50 which would be about half of your max boost... -

I have my controller unit mounted right next to the turbo, as i was under the impression it should be as close a possible. But this probably wouldn't make too much of a difference.. -

The GAIN which I have set to 5%, is used to control boost high up in the rev range. If the boost is dropping off in high rpm, you can increase the GAIN and this will increase the boost in higher rpm to maintain a steady level. Be careful increasing the GAIN and this will increase the maximum boost achieved which can be HIGHER then what is SET. I have mine as low as it can go as i don't need to GAIN as my turbo is stock and i am not reving my car harder than 7000rpm... If you are experiencing the boost bouncing off when full boost is reached, decrease how hard you want the boost to come on. This is done by the SET GAIN. In your case I would say to try and reduce this value. About half of full boost should result in a nice come on, and if you want it to come on more aggresively increase the SET GAIN. I am no expert, this is just what i found when messing around with my EBC, as it was confusing as all hell when i got mine.... And BeerBaron is right, tuning a EBC for street driving is difficult, as i find the EBC settings act differently when in WOT in lower gears and higher gears. -

From memory these are the following settings for my Profec B Spec 2 on my RB20. SET = 55% GAIN = 5% SET GAIN = 0.53bar (7.687014 psi) WARN = 0.95bar (13.77861 psi) LIMITER =15% I find reving out in high gears it sometimes reaches 1.00 bar (14.5038 psi) I also find, that it does not reach optimal boost until i am reving at about 4500 to 5000 rpmish. I would like it to reach max boost sooner and hold all the way out through the rev range without creeping to much at high rpm. But the gain is turned down all the way.... But if i increase how hard the boost comes on (set gain) too much i find that it comes on too hard and reaches full boost and bounces back of the boost. The current settings are fairly good, some would say i am pushing my stock rb20 turbo a little hard, but it don't normally hammer it in third gear all the time so 1 bar isn't reached that often. -
Relocating Battery To Boot - Battery Mount
Douse replied to Scooby's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I have been thinking about this for a while, and everyone i speak to says that voltage drop is a serious issue... Is this the case? A battery relocation is not a necessity, but i would like to have the roomier engine bay, and the option to increase the battery size as the small jap one in my car sucks the big one.... Does running a fat power cable such as 2G eliminate voltage drop issues? -
About the timing belt....i thought it was meant to be done at 100,000kms as well........ I would be doing it fairly quickly if you are reaching 150,000kms. As well as you idlers and tensioners....
