  1. Hi all, As the thread title suggests this weekend (saterday), I'm changing the timing belt on my 1997 S1 RS-Four stagea. I have had a litle bit of experience with car mechanics but mainly mountainbike mechanics and motorcrossers.... In preperation for the belt replacement I have purchased the following: Dayco Timing Belt kit (Including: Timing belt, 3 seals and Idler and tension Pulleys) A Inductive timing light from SuperCheap A harmonic balancer puller from SuperCheap(SC) Coolant as I will probably be removing the radiator from SC Transmax Z incase I need to remove oil cooler from SC A 27mm Socket to remove the harmonic balancer I will be using the following guides to help me along the way : http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ca...m-B-t73824.html http://www.skylinegts.co.uk/Cambelt.htm Just a couple of quick questions: Without a rattle gun in an Auto will I be able to remove the harmonic balancer bolt? Checked timing today and it seems to read between 25/30 degrees advance (shouldnt It be 15!!)? Also if you could leave me any tips or tricks that would be awesome. Cheers, Chris
  2. Had that anoying squeak coming from the front of the car when I'm under brakes for the past week.... Tonight Removed front left wheel to inspect pad meat and the outer pad has about 2 or 3mm if im lucky so its time to replace them. Anyone know who stocks them in Adelaide? Car is a 1997 series 1 RS-Four. Ive looked at SK's brake thread and apparantly im after some Bendix 1398's or Lucas 1250's is this correct? Also any ideas on cost of these? Thanks in advance, Chris
  3. Got my 13 piece harmonic balancer puller today, from supercheap for $26. Seems to be the same one as SK used in his how to thread. Also got a timing light, Inductive xenon timing light, TFT brand cost $60.00.... Plus the usual tyre shine, leather protector and coolant.... Anyone care to answer terminals question:
  4. Thanks Gary... Was always going to use a light not go without like some have said....
  5. An example of what i mentioned: taken from:http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Timing-Marks-t211594.html&hl=timing+light
  6. Reading more into Timing adjusting in the forums... Reading a fair few post of people saying their lights read double the actual timing? Some people are saying this is becuase how the light is hooked up to the car. Ive establishedi should purchase one that is externally powered, but what sort of conection should it use to connect to the car?
  7. Its in the sticky of DIYS and FIYS at the top of the page.... Also im wondering what timing lights people use... not willing to spend alot as im probably going to only use i once or twice
  8. Hi all just wondering if this "Dayco" Timing belt kit will suit my 1997 Series 1 RS Four stagea. Build date of 5/97. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TIMING-BELT-KIT-NIS...7QQcmdZViewItem At $186 delivered including belt and pullies It seems fairly tempting for this 100,000k service im approaching! Thanks. Chris

  12. Have answers to all questions except which timing light do you recomend for me to use on my Stag. Dont really want to spend big bucks as Ill probably only use it once or twice! Hi All. Have a couple of questions... Just wondering where I check the level of the transmision fluid on a '97 RS Four? Also Im approaching the 100,000 so I will be in need of a timing belt change, How much should i i be willing to pay? Also If someone had the part number for the belt that would be great. I've read the how to's on doing the timing belt change and it doesnt seem to hard, if its going to be overly expensive Ill probably have a crack at it with a mate. Thanks in advance, Chris
  13. Im in. Any idea on where we should go people? Apparently their were 2 stageas going down greenhill road last night crusing together? anyone from here? I got woken up by a mate saying come back and pick him up but it wasnt me....
  14. ALL SORTED. Added about 200ml to the brake fluid level and cya later light ... loving the car
  15. Hi all, Took delivery of my new S1 1997 Stagea today. Im extremely impressed with it. One quick querey.... The parkbrake light stays on sometimes while the brake is realeased. Sometimes it goes out after a bit of driving but otherwise it stays on. Do you think it just needs a litle bit more cable tension? If so how is this done and where are the adjusters? It still holds the car on a hill and the pedal springs back but the light doesnt always go out? Thanks in advance, Chris
  16. did the bulbs die after the Headunit install? Chef_stage's did and we left it 2 or 3 days and they decided to start working again?? :S good luck!
  17. just wondering if anyone in Adeliade has had a bar fitted or a car with one.... Not looking to tow anything really heavy just a trailer with 1 or 2 the motorcross bikes, small speed boat and sometimes the bike rack with the downhill bike, so it really doesnt have to be that overly built?? Cheers in advance, chris
