  1. Cheers, Sounds like the fue pressur regulator is the way to go, Install the SAFC2 and see what the tuner can do. WIll keep you updated on the progress.
  2. I wont worry about the big exhaust just yet, I have already got a 2.5 in system thats new, front half is mandrel bent but the back end is press bent, but I think I will modify the dump to a 3 inch for future plans and the higher flowing turbo. There are a few more thing that are on my list before then. SO I will keep you updated.
  3. Well the time has come for the turbo to be replaced due to it leaking oil and smoking rendomly pretty bad not to mention the squeeling sound it made when coming on boost. Anyway on the M35's the turbo is not realy that accessible especially after the importer modified the dump so that it couldnt be removed insitu I had to lower the motor about 250mm to get access to the turbo flange bolts. The first nut came off ok with a little persistance as it bound on the last few threads. Anyway I had a little trouble with one of the nuts and I snapped the stud. This didnt matter at the time as I had spent all day and got the turbo off which i what i wanted to do. I dropped the turbo in to be fixed, then i could think about removing the broken stud. A few days pass and I was prepared to remove this stud but to do so I had to lower the engine even lower so now its sitting on the floor. Anyway now that its on the floor if anyone wants me to photograph anything now is the time. The turbo has been modified by Bill at Adelaide Turbo Service and he has built a GT30/71 using the existing housings. The problem now is that the new turbo is now 18mm shorter ant that the existing cast aluminium inlet and outle pipes need modification, not to mention th eoil feed and witer feeds. This aside the other thing I need to do is an oil flow test to determin the turbo oil restrictor size. This is a little of a hassle as I have to now raise the motor again, connect al the looms and start the car to mease the oil flow throught the new feed tube. Afte this is done then lower ot again install the new turbo and modified parts and hopefully it will alll be good. Here are some photos so far. Will post some pictures of the turbo and modified parts soon.
  4. Thanks for the advise, Since I dont know much about tuning but have an understanding of what you are talking about, would it be fair to say that when you talk about using a FPR to increase the fuel pressure above say 4000 rpm to get the A/F ratios correct at high boost would it fair to say that you could achieve this also by installing slightly larger injectors then using the SAFCII to adjust the A/F ratios under other operating boost pressures and conditions. Would this be a better option if you have or are about to install a bigger / higher flowing turbo?
  5. Cheers, Let me know how you get on with the re-programming of the ECU. Even if they can modify the standard program to stop it taking control would be good
  6. Please PM me Ruby, Theres a good chance I might not be there as my engine is sitting on my shed floor awaiting my new gt30 turbo
  7. Do you know whta the problem is with the SAFCII ? Does the standard computer try to over right the settings and take control?
  8. Hi Guys, Has anyone installed an SAFC II on the M35 Stagea VQ25DET engine ? Does it work well and would you reccomend the modification ?
  9. Yea, if ou cimb into the back there is a small plug / panel down near the lock, you can remove this and then there is the manual release.
  10. I have seen some information on the V35 auto's where you can do self diagnostic test and count the number of flashes that the A/T does and it corresponds to a particular electrical signal that may be causing the problem, but it doesnt seem to work for the stagea.
  11. Has anyone had any issues with there autos stuck in 3rd or 4th gear? I have had it happen a couple of times where the auto is stuck in 4th. Once i restart the engine it seems to be ok but the A/T light on the dash flashes a few times. Not sure what the problem is. Fluid seems fine, I cant tell if it is slipping an any gears. Any advice would be appreciated
  12. HI Guys, I wont be able to make it tomorrow now. Will have to catch up next time. Things have popped up and I cant get ouf them. Have a good day. Post lots of pic's
  13. Ill be around that weekend, Count me in. Whats the plan ? Where would be likely to go? Some nice wines around langhorn creek might be cool
  14. Well, The problem with the smoke is all solved. It had nothing to do with the turbo, compression or valve stem seals. It was caused by a faulty PCV valve. Under boost the valve would not seal and therefore pressurise the crankcase and stop the turbo from draining properly and forcing oil out throught the seal into the hosing. I was also wondering why boost was dropping off at higher RPM's
  15. Awesome thanks, I tried some of the belt conditioner and and F*&k did it start squeaking after that. Will pick up a couple of new belts. Any suggestions on how I should try clean the pulleys or should I just put the new ones straight on ? PS, Has anyone removed the engine fan and replaced it with an electric one ?
  16. cheers, I guess I was hoping that someone could just tell me the numbers and I could get the right ones. I will check the numbers and take it from there.
  17. Hi Has anyone had to replace the Auxiliary drive belts on their M35 stagea yet and know the part numbers or what size to get. I wanted to replace mine as they are starting to get a little squeaky
  18. Thats what I thought, I would be good if the inlet and exhaust manifolds would bolt straight up the the Vq35. You see them in NA varient in the M35's so they abviously fit. SUrely someone has converted on in Japan of knows which bits can be interchanged.
  19. Does anyone know if the VQ35DE blocks are the same as the VQ25DET ones to build a stroker engine ? Would be good if you could just drop in some decompressed forged pistons and bolt the rest of the VQ25det bits to have a 3.5L turbo wagon Just dreamin at the moment
  20. For the price you wont get a better spec'ed car, look after it and you shouldnt have any problems. If you are not mechanically minded at all and have to rely on mechanics / nissan for servicing and repairs then you might get taken for a ride. You will find that if you have any problems with your car there are many people here that will be able to lend a hand and reccomend you the right people for the job. I would be extremely dissapointed if you decided to buy a commondoor or falcoon since you know about the stageas.
  21. HI, I have had my M35 now for about 9 months here in Adelaide, I have found the car to be great a all aspects, Fuel consumption has been around 7.5km per L around town and up to 9.9kM per L on the road. I thought I had some turbo problems with mine as it was puffing a little smoke but it turned out to be on a valve stem seal. I wouldnt say that they are renowned for turbo problems as they us a very similar turbo the rb25neo engines but the problem is removing the turbo as it is in a difficult position. How much are you looking to spend ? Let me know if you have any other questions. Dan
  22. What a great day for a drive. Here are some of the photo's I took on my phone.
