  1. how much are these indy blues new (they 1600cc yes?) and will they suit a sard rail or does it need a bigger one?
  2. Yep mine sounds pretty much the same as fineline's car, though i have different sized cams (more lift and duration)
  3. its very close to being ready to go, just need to wire up the new ecu setup (only recieved that today) now and the car loom, done a few changes and its actually in a bloody gtr. Engines been sitting on a stand for over 2 years now while building the car up. I might paint it green too
  4. ive got bigger cams than that and people reckon it sounds like a rotor at idle. Even a rotor workshop owner told me lol. Ill post a sound vid when its actually running again.
  5. cant remember if i posted it in here ages ago but mine has gone 585rwhp on 18psi and 98 pump, t04z, 2.7L, extensive headwork and big cams. It also made 605rwhp on 22psi but was misfiring so backed off early. I ran 11.3 @ 124mph in a 1740kg car when it made 520rwhp on same dyno. The new car in nearly ready to run again with this engine so looking forward to seeing what it can do.
  6. NPC twin plate, engagement is smooth (unlike os giken etc), pedal is pretty easy, definately daily driver material and only about $2050 from memory. Handles 600awhp (rev limiter drag launches) on my 1750kg car no drama and would definately reccomend them. The best part is they are only about $300-$400 to rebuild, where as os giken etc are like $1200 etc to rebuild. My twin plate is massive, its bigger than the os giken quad plate i had before.
  7. That is some top quality cage work and welding, one of the best ive seen!
  8. thanks guys the magazine wanted the feature back in 06 lol i held them off trying to get to drags and had dramas with breaking gearboxes and stuff so finally got it sorted late last year and its only just got published. The whole driveline is now in a 32 gtr and pretty close to completion with a few more serious additions to the setup Shall be pretty interesting with a car weighing around 1250-1300kg compared to the stagea weight of 1740kg. Ill post pics when its all sorted and on the track. The stagea now runs a fresh 26/30 with a 3076r and actually is pretty quick, only making 320rwhp or so at moment but still goes alright (for my expectations anyway). Im in 2 minds whether to sell it as i bought another car the other week too, but its had so much work put into it in the 6 years or so ive owned it, its hard to part with it.
  9. Personally the only reason i use egt sensors is to moniter the difference in each cylinder to adjust trims to even them out. So that means 6 egts (1 in each runner) and a logger setup.
  10. nice work Simon, definately come along way from last i saw of it. I assume you didnt do the paintjob with a paint brush or roller like the black it used to be Colour looks awesome, good to see something different for a change.
  11. Its on sale for another 2 or so weeks, i have a copy but no scanner. Im sure i could take photos of the pages though
  12. check it out if anyones keen to see how it used to be in all its glory pretty modified ran 11.33 @ 124mph, over 600 wheel hp and 2.7l jun stroker, dogbox, hks t04z etc etc.
  13. Nope mine was a 5 speed dogbox (ppg). Its actually featured in the current HPI magazine at the moment for anyone keen to see how it used to be
  14. why does nitto remind me of vipec lol?
  15. I think most threads these days follow the same story... ask for advice and still stick with original intentions if advice isnt what you wanted to hear. Theres more to offer parts wise than the japanese calalogues. Get out and actually speak to people who have fast track gtrs and get advice, not people who wish they did. Sounds like the blind leading the blind. Ive read heaps of info on the bad design of the 32 front susp yet people will spend thousands of dollars on bolt on options that dont actually solve the issue. To the OP if you have used Ikeya then what else have you compared it to? people are quick to say how great something is but dont even have anything else to compare to? Same with the rock hard suspension, how do u know if they werent a little softer it wouldnt have been 10 times better?
  16. save all that cash for the rebuild Or spend it on decent things to make it reliable rather than pushing it harder and it break even quicker. Go down to a race meet at Barbs and see what parts they are running, very limited amounts, if any of the brand name stuff from Japan. Reading HPI magazines and going to AHG skidpan days gives people the wrong idea on what you need and dont need to make a car quick. Barbs is a pretty big open track too and once the motor goes bang and gets rebuilt your going to wish you had the bigger 2860 -5s.
  17. so from this thread the advice is to throw in a rb20 wrecker motor and rip all weight out and have some cheap fun im looking for some carbon doors for a 32 gtr myself, what state are you in Uber?
  18. i assume it would depend on power output as to how much traction you may sacrifice going the smaller diameter. Will be keen to see how it would go in the racing.
  19. complete with pins and hardware along with some used pads with about 4mm left.. $1500
  20. I know what your saying, but what if the engine combo is capable of that without reliability issues, then im sure running 250rwkw is only gonna cut it for so long when you know its got alot more in it. Whatever you have power wise its never enough in my opinion after a while, unless lag becomes an issue which isnt until over 450kw + range. I remember when 200rwkw felt quick and now i think 350kw is alright, and 450kw is fast but depends what your used to i suppose. A gtst gets to a point power wise where the gtr is going to start having an advantage, im just asking at what power level in a gtst is too much to use it effectively?
  21. so from the opinions it seems big power the gtr is a benefit and if lower power then its not worth carrying the extra weight and costs. So what power can a 2wd chassis handle comfortably and get power down around a track before traction becomes an issue on semi slicks? 350rwkw+ i assume would be better in a 4wd chassis?
  22. i dont have much experience with gtr vs gtst debates but i think with a gtr you can make it the same as a gtst if you like, but cant make a gtst like a gtr. In the gtr chuck a 2wd sump on the motor, take out the front driveshafts and rip out the attessa pumps and its 2wd the same as a gtst, even put in a rb25 box if you want to save the extra weight or cut of the tf case and remove internals. The benefit is wider gaurds, ally bonnet and guards, chassis allows for 4wd if you want to run it in the future if you go all out on the motor combo. So many people say ohh i only want 400hp etc and then the motor lets go and next minute they build a forged setup and wack on a 600rwhp capable turbo and then wish 4wd was an option. Well thats from my personal experience. different horses for different courses i suppose they say!
  23. yep they are easy to deal with, usually around 200 bucks for full rb26 set from memory
  24. lets face it, which ever platform you buy to modify to race your going to spend more than the purchase price of the car on mods in the end over the years so ive always said make sure you get what you want and dont compromise on the platform choice as the last thing you want is to want to upgrade to a gtr or something in 2 years after forking out 10-15k in mods on a S14 or whatever. Start with what you want and it might take longer to get where you want it but it will be exactly what you want as a total package. So basically that means gtr gives you the option of 2wd or 4wd (for when you make more power after the rebuild ), better aftermarket support overall, better resale value in the future, more potential, etc Thats my 2c worth
  25. i have done the same and just used some aftemarket cast pistons as they were needed due to worn block and only cost 300 bucks with rings. If you do forgies then its the rods as the weak link and then oil pump and on and on it goes. I decided to save the $1750 and just limit the setup to under 500rwhp. I have one engine running a 3076r and its currently not running the correct cam timing so power is down but its running 22psi and 330rwhp. This shall be retuned very soon to around 400hp or so when i get some spare time to do it. Another engine the same exact setup will be using a hks t04z and we shall see how it lasts with 500rwhp or so. Just finishing off the final touches to the donar car at this stage so wont be running for a while yet.
